Is this game a success or not ?

    • People hitting V12 in one day after release

Why is this important to define if this game is succesful or not?
Everyone needs to value this for himself. You can, but you don't need to V12 fast.

As usual a matter of preference and play style.
[*] We're not getting hot fixes

Not true, its more that some players don't get what they want ...
That doesnt mean Zenimax is not working on hot fixes or reproducing and try to find the problem in code.
[*] There's no reward system from dungeons

I agree, here is room for improvement.
[*] PVP system isn't rewarding (or lacking true fun)

Gaining awesome skills to pimp your class would be rewarding,
one reason why DAOC was so succesful with RvR ranks.
[*] We're getting game changes based certain player interest and not as a whole (i.e. RPers wanted collision, so we all were forced to endure it. that's just one example, this isn't pointing fingers at RPers.)

    Strongly disagree.
Changes are made after internal evaluation and some of them come to the same conclusion like player suggestions and justify implementation affords.
I really like this game (and you're hearing that from a NB) but I'm worried I have nothing to reward me when I hit V12 (currently V9). I'm seeing nothing to keep me busy in this game after I (we) hit max level. (and those already V12 have already said they have nothing to do PVE wise) Aside from that Group Quest Content is not appetizing in the least. Questing should stand as solo content, but some disagree and others agree.

I guess I do not get what this game is all about (help me if I'm off). I'm just not seeing the longevity of game play. Are we going to get content releases that just make us quest and quest?

I get our gear/weapons are better than anything in the game. But if dungeons are not going to drop the more uniqueness that reward us and make us want to hit dungeons all the time then I don't see where this game is going.

Honestly I'm shocked patches have not been released to address the Nightblade bugs riddling the class. Instead we were told "next content patch release". Why would this company make us wait? Such a horrible attitude to force frustration out on your players.

Really, I'm getting a bit lost here.

I love my NB and i still have fun to play him no matter what content.
But mainly public dungeons , PVP and working on strategies to solo group content. Sure, a matter of preference and play style but i am motivated and have fun to play the game.

If your problem are missing rewards, I agree it could be more rewarding.
But they should not be the only factor for your motivation. That is actually a bad sign in any game. This is like having no fun at work even if you get paid very well ...

Really, I'm getting a bit lost here.

Let me help you out then. The following was a section posted by Matt Firor in his road ahead article on May 1st. I believe this answers your question. If none of these things interest you, then perhaps it's wise to save your money.

I came back to add: I just entered a solo dungeon that by all means is NOT solo (as a Nightblade). I have asked for help in the zone I'm in - but guess what? So many have quit the game I actually have a hard time getting groups. Before, it was quite easy to find people.
It's not a lack of players that prevents you from getting groups in Solo dungeons. It's because nobody really wants or needs a group for solo dungeons. So essentially, your requests for solo dungeon groups are simply just being ignored. It boggles the mind how you can claim that any of them "by all means is NOT solo". I have yet to encounter ANY solo dungeon that isn't easy peasy solo (regardless of class).

From my point of view as a player and customer no.

Since 1.1.2 patch the game is unstable and DCs and then 301s. (10 days now)

If one can't even touch the content due to technical failures all else is moot. I can't play. Total Failure as a product.

    Depends who you ask.

    Is one having fun?
    - If so, then that person would consider this game a success.

Is one not happy that this isn't some other game, etc.?
    - Then they might find any excuse to think this is the worst thing since ***.

I'm displeased with some of the more serious issues / bugs (like memory leaks, etc.), BUT I am happy to see all the quick fixes and very fast replies to tickets, etc.

I'm generally having fun, but the game is very much in freefall.

They're not vocal enough about what is happening. They're not putting fixes out nearly fast enough, and they're not prioritizing the fixes they need (class balance and class bugs) over the things they don't need (VR10+ content) at this point in the game.

Zenimax has proven unresponsive and slow to react, which will doom a release with as many bugs as this game has.

As in all the games I play, I came for the combat. TES rewards RP and combat quite well, although the older ones were more RP. I am an MMO newbie so I have no baggage.

I have 7 chars with 3 fighters rocking through the game. All styles, I have learn this stuff you understand. I appear to be better than most and my son and I did a 4 person the other day for the jollies. A real hoot, we did die a a bit, but we are both long time deathmatchers and death is expected. We cleared it in good order.

It may seem broken to those who think they know what they are doing, I doubt most of that BTW, but to us newbies it's a world of fun and games.

I do take it seriously and have FTC pouring out the numbers and I think I will be playing this for a very long time. I will end up in Cyrodiil at the end of all my chars progressions but PvP is why I'm here. I have less interest in raiding although I think it's probably a good way to hone ones skills.

I think if you came for the loot you made a mistake. I just make all my stuff and some for my son as well.

I have NEVER EVER seen a mmo with this *** lag in PVP - completly killing the game for the Hardcore pvpers.
    - End game SUCKS too..
    - Only thing to do is trials.. and wait for people to leave PVP so you can play with LESS lags.
    - I had a 1on1 fight in cyrodiil, no players around whatsoever. I couldnt even cast a spell, neither could my enemy. We just ran pass eachother for 5 min, until the server crashed.. ***
-The game was running much better in beta for me as well (with the exception of quest bugs which drastically improved).
-Can't speak on endgame, not there yet.
-1v1 in Cyro had the exact same thing happen. It was comical. I'd attack..wait 10 sec...circle, circle, he'd attack...wait 10 sec...circle, circle...fight took forever, LoL.

It's way too early to say if ESO is a success or not. Make no mistake it's struggling right now but I'm not convinced that those who "quit" are walking away permanently. I might have to take a little vacation myself but I'd be back.

OMG THE SERVER IS DOWN AGAIN HOW DARE THEY DO THAT WHEN I WANT TO PLAY?!?!?!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE FIXING GLITCHES? THE VET LEVEL ARMOR COLOR IS WRONG AND THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THAT YET!!!! WHERE'S THE END GAME CONTENT THEY PROMISED? I'M AT VR5 AND THERE IS NOTHING TO DOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Zenimax is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. They get rage posts if they take the server down to patch things. They get rage posts if they don't take the server down to patch things. They get people posting they are quitting because there is no veteran level end game. They get people posting they are quitting if they don't stop working on vr level content and fix the normal level game. If they say they are trying to fix issue X, they get rage posts about why they should be fixing whatever issue the poster wants to see the most. If an issue proves to be more of a problem than they first thought and they miss the deadline they mentioned, they get rage posts. I think they know no matter what they say or do it won't be good enough, go far enough, or be fast enough for some people. Better that they keep working and keep their mouths shut.

Definitely hasn't. The only people who are leaving are people who thought this was Skyrim online, or this is their first MMO launch (You think this is bad, google hte first 6 months of WoW....or literally any other MMO). After about 6 months it'll be fair to start judging lag/bugs.

Oh really? So you know the minds of every unsubscriber? Well, I've been playing MMOs for about 7 years and wasn't expecting another Skyrim but I have unsubscribed.

Now, I don't hate ESO or anything like that, but it's just simply boring. Bots and goldspammers everywhere, 5 skills at a time, generally boring combat and quests, unmemorable NPCs and story. To me the crafting, although deep just feels grindy and unrewarding. The whole experience is just dull.

Funny thing is that I started playing Wildstar today and despite it being everything I thought I'd hate in an MMO (the cartoony graphics, the silly cutesy characters, the old fashioned combat mechanics, etc), I'm actually having fun.

I think after all the problems, a lot of players have lost faith in Zenimax and when it comes down to it, ESO just isn't much fun.

I'll second the post above - it's just not that much fun. And I SOOO wanted it to be. I subbed for 6 months, more fool me. And at the moment I cannot see myself logging back in to play - and definitely not resubbing.

It's just simply too dull - which is quite something for an mmo which are mainly based around repetitive type quests/goals.

I'm quite pissed off that ZOS sullied the whole ES legacy with this poor effort.

the game had a good potential. But The dev team seem to be totally unable to follow up. Fixes and balance are so slow that you could think that the whole team was kidnapped.

Currently, 80% of the people in high level share the same build with a few variants. Because all the other ones are sub par and only masochists like me play them.

DK/sorc, light armor/staves build. Anytime, everywhere. The game lost about all its diversity in a single month.

And ZOS don't event comment on that fact. Judging by their silence, they seem to be totally lost.

It's a wonderful game. I have no idea what you people expected or what it is you hate. I have nothing but fun. I do enjoy a challenge though.

The graphics are great, the game plays very well for me. We do get lag sometimes and I have died because of it, whoopee. That is really rare and getting rarer. My RP is real good, my son just bit my witch and she is another much scarier char now. Impressive how my feelings changed when she became a Vampire. I walk around while everyone runs and the cute newbies I treat like delicious snacks, they are sometimes disconcerted by this.

Now I come from shooter deathmatch and lifetime in some of those is measured in seconds if you are not razor and know the map. Yup great fun, and when you get a hold of it and start to nail the top guys, amazing fun. So my son and I wearing down a 4 person is just a hoot. We die a lot but hey.

What can I say, I'm leveling 3 chars seriously and my son has a VR1 Vampire NB that is doing very well. The OP stuff in Craglorn just cracks him up.

I know nothing about loot, or care. The game allows me to make all the equipment I need for 3 fighters, I have 7 chars, and some for my son. I wonder a bit about the huge love of loot. I came for the fight.

The thing is, the people who are not having fun in ESO, whether it's because of the technical bugs, or that the game play is not what they expected, come to the forums to complain and look for validation from the rest of the community.

The problem occurs when the people who are actually having fun and understand that ESO is only two months old and will have technical issues disagree with the nay sayers.

The disgruntled people will then resort to calling them "fanbois" or having their head in the sand, because they think that their own opinion is the only valid opinion.

If you are unhappy with the game, and it's not to your expectations, why would you want to take away from the people who actually enjoy the game? What does it gain you, other than more frustration and aggravation?

Just close your subscription and quietly move on to something else.

Indeed I agree with the poster. And I feel that ESO has indeed failed in a big way. Lots of things I like about this game and I'm only V5 atm so I have not hit the end yet so really cant comment on end game but from what I have heard its indeed lacking in a bad way! Its the things I like about the game that has kept me hanging around by a small slowly decaying thread that might break at any time. I keep hoping that they are gunna fix things and make the game better. Also investing $80 bucks in the game makes me wanna get all I can get out of it b4 I just drop it for good. But, I'm temped to jump ship every day I play cuz some bug or other annoying thing has ruined MY fun.
Been thinking about giving FF14 a try since I LOVE FF11 so much. Tis sad that I still have not found a multiplayer game that even comes close to being as good as FF11 is. But, FF11 is not for the weak at heart and impatient of mind. Patience, pure skill, & at least half a brain is needed to play that game! FF11 is super huge and extremely detailed in its game play. So many things that effect everything that you do in that game. To be good in that game you REALLY gotta know your class very well. A game for skilled players only, to be honest. lmao...you would think I am a sales person for Square Enix. But, there is no question that they know how to makes games. Both single player and multiplayer. Now, I know they screwed up on FF14 when they first released it but at least they had the balls enough to take it down and fix it until it was actually worthy to be played and make people pay to play for something that was not broken! I respect them for that. Enough said ~gets of soap box~

    Did somebodies feeling get hurt?

Any to OP, I was loving the game at first in 5 day EA, no bots for starters and the problems I have since become aware of didn't see so prominent in the early levels.

I am still only level 22, but I love crafting, and for me, the bases of a good craftiug system is here, but to spend 2-3 hours per play session just to get a few scraps of hide to make half a sut of armour is stupid, moreover I continually outlevel all content by 3-4 levels. I got to Deshaan at level 20, am now level 22 and only completed 1 quest chain in Deshaan.

I feel the game is disjointed, bots have completely ruined my playing experience and sorry to say this, but there are no excuses for broken class skills in a game at launch and especially no place 3 months after launch. I gave Zeni the benefit of the doubt, but no longer.

I was an avid supporter of Zeni until recently, but no longer. If they cannot get the basic mechanics working I don't want to continue supporting them. I like my games to play as advertised.
