You have to remember something about the whole death screen thing: AOE ticks are added up the entire fight before you die, so if he stacked 3x300DPS AOE on you and you died in the 2nd second thats 1800hp damage shown on the screen.

I will play occassionally but going to give Wild Star a try. I declined all beta invites because ESO was so good. Lately however "VR content sucks"

IMO, Wildstar is a bad MMO. It's pumped on hype of being the next WoW, and granted it's launching with lotsa features, I almost hated playing it with any class combination I tried. The graphics are from the year 2000, the art stye IMO is kiddie lame, and the only draw I had to the game was how cool the developers approached the game. But really, when you get in game......it sucks.
I'm looking forward to the stupidity of the media upping this game compared to much better games along it's side.
Think we're perhaps the only two folks on the planet who couldn't find a way to like Borderlands. Nearly everyone else seems to think its among the greatest games ever.Took one look at cartoony Wildstar Graphics and said no thanks. been there done that with Borderlands.
As opposed to grinding through three times the boring levels to get to . . . um . . hmm . . . help me out here . . .It's not a question of difficulty, is that it's the typical linear wowclone where you just grind through boring levels to get to what?Raiding? No thanks.
That could happen. WoW seems to be changing direction with WOD so who knows? I don't have a crystal ball. But most people playing WS think it's a ton more fun than WoW and they love it. No one's going to quit a game they're having a blast playing.I don't doubt people will like it and play it. Till WoD comes out and they go F2P because all their intended public has gone back to WoW
HA! Now that's fist-pounding, pants-peeing hilarious! Unless by clunky you mean skill based, in which case . . . sorry. And the combat was very clunky and lame

I don't think I'll ever be able to play an MMO again that doesn't have 3rd person shooter mouse control as the default. Nothing makes me feel less immersed than having to choose between using A and D to turn, or holding down the mouse button.

In my experience people who claim WS sucks haven't played it past level 15 or given the reason because . . . graphics. Most people who actually played WS have a totally different view. To be honest I had no intention of ever stepping foot in that game because of the art style. Finally gave it a shot. The starting areas are indeed "meh" and at first the classes seemed "meh" as well.
But the thing about WS is the more you level in that game the more intense it becomes. After level 15 things change. After level 30 the game goes into omg-can't-put-it-down-it's-so-fun mode. Classes feel smooth and really well done. Abilities synergize and combat is AWESOME! Once you go into a dungeon or raid? That's it. If you like challenging, reactive, intense and fun content you're hooked. It's the most fun I've had since early WoW. I'm also SUPER impressed with the PvP.
This is all subjective, of course. If you like doing repetitive questing over and over ESO's your game. If you like endless zerg PvP, you'll enjoy ESO. If you like having access to tons of useless skills and builds, ESO's for you. If you like mindlessly mashing AOE abilities, you'll like ESO. If you like playing one of the two classes that actually make sense and spending hours and hours and hours doing linear quests for pocket change, then you're in the right place.
If you like DC's, hackers, exploiters, botters, bugs (and more bugs), broken abilities and passives, then you'll love, LOVE ESO. If you think that having to spend weeks and weeks to reach level cap = hard, then you should be playing ESO. If you think this game is at all challenging then by all means, keep playing.
As for me? On 5/30/14 at 12:01 PDT I'll be logging into WS with a ton of guildies, and you'll never have the pleasure of seeing my face here ever again.

I tried WS beta, I couldn't get to level 10 no matter how hard I tried. It's even worse than Allods online. Wowclone with boring quests, grind and clunky hybrid combat

It's garish, cartoony and kinda mindless.
Hurt my eyes after a few hours and after ESO's beauty and voice acting, it came across as 'empty calories' and kinda mind-numbing.
