leveling has always been the best part of any MMO for me. New everything from skills to attribute points to gear etc. End game can be fun but never as much fun as that first leveled character

It seems from the posts that maybe I am playing the wrong game. I thought I was playing Elders Scrolls. Elders Scrolls to me has always been the RPG and questing king of the hill.

However, it seems that people here would be happier if they could just buy a level 50 toon fully tricked out with the best equipment and skills from ZOS.

I have seen the first 15 levels called "tedious" and how horrible it is to have to spend 8 to 10 HOURS (not days) grinding through them.

My wife and I have been playing since early access (and betas before that) and at this point have 14 to 16 toons each (depending on the day of the week) none of which are over 14 yet. And we are loving the game.

    Are we alone?

I'm just like you, I milk every last bit of fun out of every quest or map that I can. And, have 3 alts that I rotate through. It will be a few months before I cap.

I have one character, which is V12. I have no current plans at the moment to try other classes and replay the quests( i dont like quests much). But I would like to repsec and try out some different weapon choices, however at the moment its simply too expensive.

    I had fun leveling though.

    I enjoyed leveling from 1-50.

But the VR content sucks like ***. All you low level noobies, you will start to hate the PvE side of the game once you hit VR. Trust me. It's in *** shambles.

People already VR12 spent their time playing 15 hours a day grinding stuff in Craglorn. As soon as Craglorn was out, a few hours after people were already VR12. What the ***. It's one giant grindfest.

Sure, you can level your VR rank by doing the opposite faction's quest areas and ***, but it is terrible and very alt-unfriendly. I don't know why ZOS thought this was a good idea, but whatever.

I'm VR5 now and the only thing that keeps me playing is PvP. Lets hope they don't ruin it any further than it already is.

Levelled 10 characters in wow to max level and about 5 in swtor. ESO levelling is fun but I'm not burning myself out anymore. Just one character for me I think.

You're not alone. I am thoroughly enjoying leveling up on this game. Most fun I've had on a game in quite awhile.

A lot of people play MMORPGs as a sort of race to the end. It's been that way for years now. I don't really understand it either.

The only thing I think that gets people so turned off about the vet levels. Is EVERY other level takes about the same amount of time, there is no gradual increase in time to level. Then once you hit Vet1, you feel like you need to keep going but it takes WAY longer for just 1 level.

However their changes to increase vet xp from mobs and pvp should help drastically. While it may be a "grind" its actually pretty much exactly the same as 1-50 except it takes longer. So if you enjoyed 1-50, you should enjoy vet levels, unless the only satisfaction and fun you had was when you Dinged a new level.

Leveling a character is what I enjoy the most from an RPG. I am creating it. I am making it my own. I have all 8 of my character slots filled with toons of different races, genders, factions, crafts, and classes just so I can go slow and enjoy that process. None is higher than 34. I never have a lack of new content this way either. If I were just interested in running around killing stuff I would have bought a shooter.

AMEN! You are a true gamer. So many who play MMO's are all about the end game. Make the rest a of the game a breeze, but let me play the END GAME. They forget, the END GAME is the END. I've played MMO's ford over 35 years and seen most die because the END wasn't enough. If more people enjoyed the getting to the end many a good game would still be good and fun to play.

I am playing a static duo and we are only level 31. I have two crafts (Prov & Alch), he has none. We stay in sync as far as quests go so we can do them together. We both only have bank alts for additional storage. We do enjoy ESO, and would probably play it long term. But the Hackers, Broken Quests, CTD, and so forth are starting to weigh heavily on us.

Has anyone else noticed how few complaints about ESO there are in this thread compared to the other threads in the forum? Maybe most of the problems are with end game content?

Well the veteran zones are much more peaceful and bot free then the starter zones imo. But yes the levelling is pretty top notch until you get to the higher vr zones. Even they are a bit better now though.

I enjoy it. It's an open world game though, and just like in real life, people want to be first have something and show it off. I always laugh when I see someone in rare armor sitting on their horse strategically situated so everyone has to pass by and look at them. Or better yet...they get up the railing. (We really need a peacock animation...lol) So ya, I get a chuckle and go back to leveling. If you were expecting a Skyrim experience though, it has aspects of that, but an MMO is a much different animal than a single player.
  • Rodoscrolls
yep ,love the leveling in this game. the journey is what ESO is all about. I'm going to level a character from all 3 factions to 50(and probably a 4th as I have an imperial as well...) and then do the VR levels for the one I enjoy the most. I don't care how long it takes, its the way the game is designed....to take your time. This game is about the journey and experience and not the endgame. I'm laughing at all the mmo locusts who power leveled to endgame and have nothing to do or are bored or don't like the design they found when arriving at said endgame. Heres a clue this isn't the style of game that you rush to end game like everyone does nowadays in mmo's and then farms endgame for months and expect to be entertained.

I have been playing a couple hours a night since 5 day early access, stopping to enjoy the sights etc ,messing with an alt.My main is level 40, my 1 and only alt so far is level 8.This game will keep me entertained for months and months.Hopefully by then there will be more content out(we are talking like 6 + months from now anyways, for me....if not I will find ways to be entertained...)

yes I get the" play how you want "thing and people are welcome to rush to the end(people who claim the didn't, ...well.. sorry your lying......you are)but you missed the point of ESO, you really did, enjoy sitting around and complaining though or go locust another game and do the same because you will and its likely what you did before coming here lol ....good luck.I'll be enjoying this amazing game in the style it was truly meant to be played..........

Not a lot of point going to Cyrodiil unless of course you enjoy pvp.

    Not true.

I never liked PVP untill cyridiil. I use catapults on enemy walls. and pour oil on enemies who tries to enter ours

This is part of what I have a hard time understanding. I don't really want any xp and I am very happy with the gear I craft. Well, each to their own. As long as people are enjoying the game.

Level 35 here, taking my time, enjoying the journey :)
Opinions are like buttholes : Everybody has one, and they usually stink.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

No, you are not. You are right, this is an Elder Scrolls game. As I have said in my guild many times: if you are leaving an area without having opened every container, step foot on every square inch of territory, and talked to every single NPC, then you are doing it wrong.

This game is beautiful - the art is truly amazing. I don't understand those people who are so focused on leveling that they never just stand on a cliff side and watch the sun set over a city.

I'd enjoy questing more if they were more action-oriented or involved other players more (including, but not necessarily group quests). The go here, talk to this guy, run back an talk to other, click these five doo-hickies, etc. gets old after you've done it for the 10th time. This isn't unique to ESO of course, but that's no excuse.

I have been playing with a friend of mine and we're having lots of fun questing. She and i always end up discussing the pros and cons of moral decisions, why we like certain npc's etc. The truth is the quests in ESO don't feel grindy or boring or even trivial. They are fun, interesting and funny at times and always leave me with a sense of having done something meaningful.

I am also with the OP on this. I've been playing since early access, have 6 characters and the highest is 15. I have no wish to rush to the level cap, and after playing MMOs solidly since '98 the only game in which I've actually reached the level cap is GW - and only then because the cap was so low! In every other MMO I've played I've either never yet hit the original cap or it's been continually raised beyond my reach.

One thing I have never done is also pertinent - I have never burnt myself out on a game. By playing several characters, taking them slowly, and switching between games I have always kept them fresh. Of course, there's something else I've never done either - I've never run out of content!

Spending 30 minutes in a solo VR dungeon because there is a 3 man group every 10 meter with a healer that heals 25% HP every 0.3s is great fun!

Different ways to level but I do enjoy most of the quests. In fact I just hit about 5 in a row that were some of the best I've experienced so far (cloud9).

There are quite a few others quests though as you level up that start to all look and feel the same. I'd prefer they just throw some these out. Run into a bunch of these in a row and it will put you in a coma.

I play 3 characters (40's) and each one has a different play style. One is a completionist, one is rogue and does whatever he wants, and one is balanced.

There's people like this in every MMO. They don't want to play the game, they want to reach max level. Then they get there and complain about having nothing to do.

Just don't worry about them. They don't affect you.

The majority of players are just playing through the game and enjoying it for the experience.

Those on the forum are usually a minority of more negative players because people who are enjoying the game spend most of their time IN the game.

Personally, I don't care for end game raiding or pvp. I loved SWTOR for the story elements they added(which was unfortunate when they canned all future story lines). I have played ES games since Morrowind and absolutely love the exploration side of them. I am quite happy that they added that part into ESO. I find it quite fun that they don't just lead you by a leash from one questing hub to the next. I play for the journey and the stories along the way. I like that the player character builds a reputation and other NPCs recognize what you have done for them. So, no, you are not alone when it comes to others enjoying the questing and stories in this game. I say let the ones who want to rush to level cap be sad that they have little to do and regret they didn't spend more time enjoying the game instead of rushing through it while the rest of us just have fun and enjoy the experience.
