Battlegrounds Solo queuing only

I can't believe Zos decided to only give the option to solo queue for battlegrounds after all the feedback on the PTS forum threads.

Would it of really hurt them to have two queue's?

Sure the grouping queue might take much longer to get matches, but this is an MMO first and foremost.

People would not of minded waiting if it meant they could play alongside their loved ones.

To me it's madness that you can no longer group with your partner or best friend in a game that is all about teamwork.

I would like to think most people would agree with me on this that Zos should of allowed for both queuing types.

I really hope in the next few weeks we see this get resolved.

Thank you for reading.

That is honestly the best thing that could ever happen. Premade BGs were so unbalanced all the time especially if you fought randoms. I couldn't be happier about that change, finally BGs evolve to a challenge, where you can't rely on your team anymore but have to be good yourself. No stupid Synergy teams anymore that win by pressing X.

I see it like this, you guys (read premades) had your fun, demolishing new players, now its time for a more fair fight, if you wanna be premade, you have 2 out of 3 versions of pvp still, where you can be premade.

But that makes no sense, it's a team based game, it's you and 3 other team members.

Not like it's 12 players and everyone is solo and has to kill off the other 11 players.

I'm not saying get rid of solo queuing I'm asking for 2 individual queue's

I can't stand BG's but I do think this is a weird decision. Why would you not let friends play content togehter? It's gotta be a nail in the coffin for BG's.

We need to wait and see how this does in a live environment with a lot of traffic, versus the PTS which is historically a smaller sampling. As mentioned in the patch notes, we'll be monitoring both feedback and how it impacts the system once everything goes live today and in the coming weeks.

The PvP Guilds I am in are mainly happy about it, they have group play in Cyrodiil and BGs to proof themselves.

Attributing our fails to outer sources seem the easy option in PvP these days.

Some people are just better than us.

I did 4 BGs in total in my life - for the wreath of Mayhem

Won two - lost two with total randoms

1 was ez, 2 other fair fights and in the last one I had literally 0 kills, couldnt even move than 3 seconds out of spawn points, perhaps they would wreck us in cyrodiil or IC too

They were just good, I even took a screenshot of it to lul at it with my guildies

    :joy:

Did you not see all the PVPers complaining about pre-mades? I do agree with you. I pretty much only played BG's with my friends and now I don't. I'm not a PVP master and only ran BGs for fun.

Well this is why I'm giving my feedback, if people like myself don't speak up about how we feel you would just assume everyone is happy and leave it how it is.

At least this way you now know some people are unhappy and want change.

Not like I'm saying remove the solo queue, I'm asking for us to have access to both.

This way solo player's can use the solo queue and people who have partner's and friends can use the grouping queue.

    This way everyone is happy.

I doubt that there are enough players for your second queue, because ur 4er premade teams a very rare. thats why u normally play against random guys.

It really behooves me why you guys did this. One of the biggest appeals of BGs for me is/was being able to to PVP with friends that are different alliances, taking that away feels crappy. I don`t want the only shared PVP experience with my other alliance friends to be duels or overland PVP in Cyro/IC. Taking away cross alliance BG teaming ability really really makes me sad. The sooner they revert this change the better.

Me on the other hand am going to start doing BG on the regular now.

Nice to know that everyone will be put with randoms.

I am in no way claiming that I'll be dominating, but it is a much fairer player distribution system.

Regardless what they do some will be happy and some will be upset. I get why people want to play with friends but I also get why solo people who have no shot sometimes have a problem as well.

I agree with having 2 separate que's being the ideal situation but if we only had one path to choose, going with solo que's is probably better for the majority of people. I have a couple of friends that have moved away from the game but come back to play bg's with me so it's kind of sad that I'll get to spend less time in game with them now...

As a pve-er I really enjoyed doing bgs with friends. Usually just as a duo. Even though I'm certainly not the best - far from it, and we got rofflestomped often enough, I had fun. And most of that came from hanging out in discord laughing and cursing together.
One nice aspect was, that they don't really take a lot of time, no horse simulator is involved, and if you're getting zerged is 8 people max.
Now, I don't see myself doing any unless forced to - meaning when another event requires them.

Then ask for another queue for premades, not reverting this change that many have happily waited for. This change simply had to happen, as power-creep between organized groups and randoms is just too big, they can`t really have fun at the same "sandbox".
I actually believe that premade-only queue could become surprisingly popular if such was formed, as then players would know exactly what to expect and get the challenge they are looking for.
Not everyone enjoy so called "seal clubbing" and that`s what premade vs randoms matches have mostly been for a long time now. Now that era is over and I say: good riddance.

Will this be advertised or highlighted in game? I think there are a lot of people who tried battlegrounds, didn't like how unbalanced they felt, and wrote them off. If the new idea is that these are to be a fast queue and fast action and a bit chaotic (due to everybody being randomly assigned), that might appeal to players, but there are a lot of people who just play the game and are not visiting this website or reading patch notes. If they still associate battlegrounds with getting their faces smashed in by pro groups, they may not even think to give battlegrounds another try. Will they realize that a big change has been made to battlegrounds? I also think that the whole re-downloading the entire game thing is gonna be the big topic on the forums and in-game chat as this Update goes live and could drown out the battleground change.

This is some kind of experiment. Z OS thinks that more player will go to Cyrodiil and to sewers for group play and leave BGs for soloing. We will see how impact this change will make.

As someone who is against the Solo queue, I saw no reason for Zos to change their mind based on the PTS for the reasons Gina has stated here. They clearly stated they wanted to see how this affected the speed of matchmaking and other aspects and that can only be seen on live.

If it's so hard for a competent game developer to make two separate queue options, it is definitely not that hard to speak with us on the topic. [snip] Is it a temporary solution? Will a second and possibly more queue options be added in upcoming weeks? If not, will these be added in future? If it's an experiment it won't work if you don't reveal your vision and plans.

    Zero communication as usual.

despite all of the feedback on PTS, the developer note is the same. Most importantly, you sold this feature to us as a group feature in 2016 and now you are revoking it with virtually no explanation and little clue as to where this is going.

    Is a group queue planned?

What is the goal of BGs long term?

This is incredibly disappointing. I recruited a group of friends into ESO over the holidays and all but a couple have quit because of this change. They don't even care that much about BGs - they just can't believe a company would completely revoke a group play aspect of a game with no alternative at all, planned or discussed.

On PS4 NA I know I’ve seen/heard a lot of talk about quitting BGs solely because we can’t play with our friends. I usually play with one other person (who isn’t a Cyrodiil/IC) player and now he won’t pvp anymore. Here’s to hoping that the change is reverted and that there’s actually enough traffic to get your data to prove BGs are terrible solo.

It’s an interesting experiment. It forces everyone into single PvP Battlegrounds. And means ZOS should get feedback about its effectiveness both from their internal stats and from players’ comments.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to only having single player queueing.

I’m not sure how many new players it will draw in/retain as the learning curve is high and the pain point low. But I might be wrong.

There seem to be no benefits to it being a team game if you can’t communicate with your teammates, but again players may find unexpected ways to deal with that.

Rather than simply whine, it’s probably better to try it out over the time few weeks and give proper feedback to ZOS about it, whether you liked it or not.

Could you / a developer, explain how these data will be useful? This would include longer-term goals for BGs.

What I mean by this is that if groups are driving a lot of the BG activity, the data you collect here is totally useless if you intend to introduce / re-introduce a group queue, as your Stream Team members have told people. On the other hand, if the longer-term goal of BGs is to be the totally solo option, then that makes it clearer what you are interested in with this change. It also clarified who should help with this change.

It is unclear what this change is meant to do. For instance, despite frequently queuing solo (and almost never in a group of more than 2 people), I have no interest in solo-only BGs long term. So I will not queue if this is the long-term goal. If instead your goal here is to collect data for something (the MMR system?) and implement a group queue in the future, then I might help by participating. But without knowledge of the long term goals, I don't want to use my gameplay time to test features where I don't know what their intention is. I bought this game because of BGs being introduced, and I'm not about to put more time or money in to them without some idea of what is going on.
