Do you want a global auction house?

Yes, I would like to see a global auction house.
With the change in business model, it would make commercial sense for ZOS to emulate EQ2's broker/AH system, whereby all buying and selling is freely accessible to subscribers (subject to the usual commission arrangements) but non-subscribers have to buy tokens from the Crown Store in order to sell items (while being able to buy stuff). It works well there.

The guild trader system does not work well here. Buying involves a laborious round-the-world trip to check availability and prices, while selling is limited to those comparatively few players who happen to belong to the right guild that particular week. Prices are artificially inflated by the costs involved in joining a guild and selling through it. Those who oppose auction houses on the spurious claim that they distort the market are simply trying to preserve their own market distortion.

Given that roughly half the player-base wants some form of auction house, perhaps they should all make a mental note to add a suitable question to the forum topic for the next ESO Live. If enough people ask the question, there's a chance it might get addressed - and if not then at least the strength of feeling will get noticed.

Nope. Global ah system like guild wars 2 has just reduces the depth of trade to "may as well be a vendor". Having played games with that style of auction house, and ones with server based ones, then one like eso has similar to Dark age of Camelot, I vastly enjoy the type already here in ESO by far. More depth to the whole trade process and arbitrage possibilities.

Not really... it would be huge. At least in other games, they have servers that separate each auction house. This one would just be flooded, and a waste of resources to maintain.

No I dont, I do hope to see some kind of marketplace per town for those not in guilds or just to sell stuff without using the guild system. But I do however do not want a global auction house as I like the way its now, sure there can be some tweaks to make the current system better. But I love that you have to travel to towns to get the best stuff from various traders, very immersive.

So I say no to some kind of Ebay as it does not fit in the world of Tamriel imo.

Trade guilds are incredibly easy to get into, and I've yet to hear a valid argument for why someone wouldn't take advantage of one. The only people being penalised in the way that the trade guild haters are stated atm are those who actively choose not to join a trade guild - ergo they're penalising themselves.

some of them that actually sell charge people to be in their guild

the better the trading guild the more they charge

Actually I'd say the more selfish the guild, the more they charge. If it's a healthy, populated guild, they don't need to (and shouldn't) charge. Ours has been going since pre-launch, we do well, we don't and never will charge.

I'm torn on the issue. I'd really like to see more Kiosks available, and better search features within the kiosks as they are. The current search features built into the game are awful, and require heavy addon usage. I am afraid to think of what my game will be like when 1.6 goes live, in large part because no addons will work.

The other issue people bring up is the annoyance at the existence of 'Trade Guilds'. I have to agree that in part I find the existence of a Trade Guild as both odd and appropriate at the same time. Thematically, guilds and trading go hand in hand. When we think of commerce in the middle ages and the renaissance we most certainly consider the jewelers guilds, masonry guilds, clothier guilds, and so forth. The problem I have with Trade Guilds conceptually is that the only thing that they have really tying them together is a common greed, making them as interesting as a stock exchange aka 'Auction House'. Alphashado, I'm in Black Market with you, and the one thing I really appreciate about that guild is that Black Market has a definite theme which I believe will really stand out when 1.6 and the Justice System goes live. Many other Trade Guilds though have nothing to really build rapport, apart from some kind of raffle system.

In short, I'm on the fence about the issue which is why I didn't vote. I really think the Kiosk system is better long term, particularly if they can add more kiosks to the game, and if Trade Guilds can actually specialize. I suppose it makes sense that the most hard core traders guilds hold the kiosks that sell for 1-2 mil a pop. I think it would be nice if more kiosks were available though to give more budding traders out there a chance, and help the small time guilds get some business going.

    Lol at this thread!

The economy works because there is no AH. Why ruin one part of ESO that works really well?

There is plenty of guild merchants for players who isnt part of good trade guilds.

Fix the UI/Menu, add better search, and not leave us dependent on addons to utilize core game mechanics. Otherwise, I like this system much better than a global AH, which encourages miniscule undercutting and eventually absolutely destroys the economy (see Guild Wars 2...legendaries and a couple skins sell for decent prices. Everything else is rarely more than a few copper, and many items are actually un-sellable. We don't need that in ESO).

As far as the economy of selling, you know I've sold 100 columbine in guild store for 30k, which would probably never happen with a global AH......but the loss would be entirely worth not checking 5 cities kiosks when I am in need of something.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

it wasn't meant to be biased when I created it. I would love to add a "I like the system just fine the way it is" option to the poll, but I can't. At the time it was meant to simply be a Guild trader vs Global AH poll.

This thread was created in December of last year. It isn't a new poll, it just keeps getting necro'd because people are interested in the topic and they did a forum search to find it. It's funny how people will tell someone to use the search function to find topics instead of creating new ones, then turn around and poke when an old thread is resurrected.

Perhaps looking at the date of the original post might prevent this type of confusion in the future.

4 pages of replies is also a dead giveaway that it's not a new thread.

Plus I support kiosks, not a global AH. So you are mistaken on both accounts :)
