We absolutely need a vote kick ability for group finder.

So, here is what happened: Banished cells group, ran smoothly up until last boss. We get to the last boss and everyone except the tank has the pledge for Banished cells (today's pledge) and we all want to do the gold key challenge because its relatively easy and we definitely have a strong enough group for it. Once we suggest the idea, the tank throws an absolute fit over it, refusing to do it and giving no clear reason as to why other than "reasons". We do the fight anyway, and all but him decide to not attack the adds, and keep at least three alive. We end up dieing because we have to prolong the fight due to the tank trying to ensure we cant do the gold key. After we wipe, tank (who was the leader unfortunately) goes off on us, kicks me because I was the main person questioning his "reasons", and then he himself bailed on the group. Five seconds later, fortunately, I was reinvited to the group after he left and leader was passed to the healer.

This new group finder is amazing, and I love it dearly, but we need a system in place for the other 3 people in the group to be able to remove someone if they are being rude/obnoxious/uncooperative with everyone else. Especially if that person is the leader and they try to hinder the group at the last moment.

When I que in with random groups I make it abundantly clear before the dungeon starts that I am going for the gold key and check at that time if I have any folks not on board.

I also discuss that I plan on skipping any unnecessary mobs/bosses speed mode style.

I ask if anyone has any issues with that.

I ask what the dps is of the 2-3 dps who que in with me.

That conversation takes a minute and a half at best and saves a ton of time and headaches.

I definitely agree with you. As a side note, ZOS did mention they are working on a vote/kick system for the group finder in their article all about the updates to the grouping tool. So as far as I'm concerned, it's on it's way.

I'm baffled by the fact that the tank can focus down the adds while tanking Rillis before the DPS and healer could burn Rillis down. That's actually quite impressive I might have to try that on my tank today. You could have not healed the Tank let him take a dirt nap and then finished the fight.

I think it was all a situation of no one knew what to DPS at that point, so we didn't do our full rotations

I wonder what his "reasons" were for not going for the gold key? Did he want to wait to go for it with his preferred group or something?

A kick feature offers even more chances of being abused. WoW has one for their dungeon grouping tool, and it's abused constantly. People are getting kicked for no reason at all, all the time. I don't think the community in MMOs are mature enough to handle such a feature. It has to be 100% bulletproof and offers no chance at all of being abused. If there's just a little thing that can be abused, it will be. That's just how the MMO community has evolved.

Sadly, all things are abused yes. But its a matter of benefit vs. abuse in most cases, and I feel in this case the benefit outweighs the abuse because of situations like these. Its all for the greater good.

    aFhWSah.gif

Jokes aside tho (been waiting to use that for a while), its a system that prevents the leader from having abusive power, and puts the power more in the overall group. With the current system, the leader can kick everyone out if he feels so inclined, with a vote kick system it ends up being majority rules in that case, so its less likely to be abused because the overall power isn't vested in one individual who could have questionable motives.

+1 for this idea it would be nice. one person having all the power is never a good idea... especially when you are in large groups haha.or when the leader decides hey im gna go to the store and stay logged in the game and you are waiting and he goes offline.... like now what we cant pass leadership since he is in group but offline and now dungeon/ whatever is -1 person and cant kick and add more haha

I've only ever twice been in situations where I wished there was a vote-kick feature.

Once when I was kicked by the group leader for being a tank. I was the only one in the group with tank selected, so I guess he felt like he didn't want a tank for vet Darkshade Caverns. The sad thing was he was a guildie, and he didn't bother to wait long enough to realize that I can actually switch between all 3 roles on that character. The good thing was I got into another group for that pledge immediately and, with me switching from tank to ranged DPS for the last fight, we blazed our way through the dungeon with the greatest of ease, and when I got back to Grahtwood the guy was still spamming /zone looking for people to run the gold key with). That was the time when I thought "wow, it's *** to have all the power for who gets kicked in the hands of 1 random person, when that random person might be a total ***".

Once when I was in a group and the leader kept on Leroy Jenkinsing everything, and wouldn't listen to anything the rest of us in the group kept saying. He kept on dying and running past mobs/bosses while a ghost, while the rest of us were actually trying to do the dungeon. That was the time when I thought "wow, it's *** for the 3 of us who are actually trying to do this dungeon to not be able to kick the guy who randomly got to be immune to being kicked, and who is ruining this for us and not listening to anything we're saying to him".

So it's not something that has come up much for me at all - the vast majority of my experiences with grouping it's been a total non-issue. Still, it sure would be better than the current system.

well i like the leader can kick anyone. i useally do plegdes with my guild and sometimes we want to scale the dungeon and player so we need to use groupfinder. we party up as 3 use groupfinder. kick the player we find with groupfinder after first player enters dungeon and invite guildmate in group. sure it's not really nice way for the player we need to kick but there is no other way to scale.

Just to add another story to the pot...

Running vCoA right now - guy queues as healer, tank and DPS. Then refuses to tank - we can't get past Fire Maw without a tank, I call him out on it, he says 'no', he then goes on to kick the lowest level player in the group as he has group leader, tried to requeue for a tank, I tell him he's being an absolute *expletive*. He reacts by travelling out of area but not leaving the group, so we now have me and a healer sat part-way through the dungeon with this absolute *expletive* as our group leader, who is wandering around Grahtwood.

Maybe place that tank on ignore since he was that beligerant.

But yes, a gf formed group should require a vote to kick with anyone being able to initiate that vote. The leader should be powerless in this regard.

Edit: and the leader should not be imune from being kicked by a vote.

Yeah this ranks right up there with the lowest of lows. Not nice? Down right cruel considering how long it sometimes takes to get into a group. Do you at least explain why you are being such a jerk before kicking them?

To fix this I would suggest if you use group finder you couldn't invite a player until after the first boss is defeated. If someone drops from group before the first boss group finder can just find you another player. After first boss you can still find someone that is willing to help out despite not getting the key/reward so you don't end up starting over. Wouldn't completely end this kind of abuse, but would cut down on it.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I think what the group finder needs is a "mic Y/N" option.

I only started doing dungeon runs recently when I got to VR16 and the lack of communication is maddening. For example, my healer didn't have repentance on. I didn't even think of it because my normal running buddies are all magicka builds. If the tank in my group had a mic, he could have easily said "Can you please equip repentance? I need the stamina to hold agro." I would have done it no problem. Instead we get to the last boss, he basically insta-dies, and I get a message saying "You dumb (fill in blank) ! Equip repentance!!!!" Before I can even respond. He immediately starts the boss fight again and, once again, insta-dies, followed by an even more ridiculous message.

So with that story, I request a mandatory mic on field for the console group finder. Saves time, would help coordination, and would reduce the likelihood that an 8 year old will curse you out for not reading minds.

If the person you vote-kick was queued with you randomly, it should disable manual inviting until a random replacement is found.

This would be to prevent guilds from kicking a random player to invite one of their friends at the last boss.

If you vote-kick someone who was manually added to the group (or manually formed the group), then yeah you can just replace them however you want.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.
