[game breaking bug]: no progress in Fighters/Mages Guild skill line

Hello folks,

I can not unlock Dawnbreaker because I can not progress in the Fighters Guild skill line anymore. I am stuck at level 9 (1596/1600) and killing daedra, undead and doing anchors does not give me any experience anymore. It is really depressing when you want to play with those skills, especially the ultimates. (For example I can not use flawless dawnbreaker as a stamina nightblade.

Did any of you have this problem before or knows how to fix it?

Everybody else who experience this bug, please post here and send a bug report/ask for help too so we can finally get their attention on that issue. Same goes for everybody who can not progress in the Mages Guild skill line

Edit:
- some experience the same bug with the Mages Guild skillline
- I first noticed that bug a couple weeks ago (around the beginning of September)
- killing daedra, undead and doing anchors in different zones does not work either
- putting Fighters Guild skills in my skillbar and trying to progress in the skill line with doing so is not working either (I don't think that this normally works anyway)
- Fighters Guild quest also not working in terms of progressing the in the skill line
- You don't have to complete the Fighters Guild questline to reach rank 10 in the Fighters Guild and unlock dawnbreaker / Mages Guild - Unlock Meteor
- redownloading and reinstalling game does not help

On the screenhots you can see that I killed a skeleton. This should count as an undead kill and therefore increase my fighters guild skill line. But as you can the skill line is still stuck at 1596 of 1600.

Pretty sure I am having the same issue getting from 9 to 10 in the Mages guild...

I'm havin that same issue with the Fighters Guild skill line. Last night I played for 3 hours in IC and I still couldn't get the last 3/4 of an inch that I need to get to 10.

Furious, the undaunted actually stops at 9 for most people as there isn't actually another level (I wish ZOS would fix this before they at a true 10th level for undaunted with and ultimate or something).

As far as the others are concerned, is this everywhere? Have you tried collecting lorebooks and killing daedra in multiple zones? If so, your skill gain is definitely bugged. If not, try a few different zones. It may be that the mobs in a particular zone are bugged. Either way, once you narrow it down, you can submit more detailed bug reports, both in and out of the game. Good luck.

I have the same bug with Mages Guild. It's been stuck at 9/10 for months, and I don't know what to do about it either....

Edit: I've used Mages Guild abilities COUNTLESS times btw, still no progress.

Edit 2: Got it months ago by getting the last 2 lorebooks

Some for fighters guild you need to kill lots of deadra

Thank you for your response. For me it does not matter where I kill the daedra, undead or where I am doing the anchors. I first noticed that bug a couple weeks ago when I was grinding in Alik'r Desert (killing zombies). After that I tried different zones and it didn't help. I also played tons of hours in Imperial City the last days. I couldn't progess in the skillline either, unfortunately.

This must be for PC because I have not had this issue on PS4 and I just very recently hit Mage's Guild Lv10, like a few days ago recently.

Stupid question but is it possible you guys didn't beat the whole FG MG quest lines and that is why they are frozen?

It is a valid point so I wouldn't call it stupid. I cannot verify this because my main had already completed both quest lines long before he maxed them out at 10.

My V8 has been stuck on 9 since lvl 40 or so. PS4. On Cadwells gold now. Quest line was done ages ago.

You don't level skill lines by using the skills, you get it from Mob Kills. Well, you also get skill experience from quest experience if the skills are slotted when you turn in the quests, with the exception of the Guilds. Fighters you only level by killing Daedra and Undead, Mages by reading Blue Lore Books.

Some say that you get Fighters experience by doing FG quests, but not that I have noticed on the two quests I paid attention on the before and afters. It seems that the exp you get from the FG quests are just related to the mobs you kill.

Doesn't really address the point though. If completing the entire Guild's Quest Line is basically mandatory to unlock the Ultimates then that is the reason the experience meters are frozen for those people if they have not completed them yet. If they have completed them though and the bar is still frozen then that means it isn't mandatory and there might just be a bug involved.

Thanks for the responses.

As "Kemosabe2point0" points it out: You don't have to to complete the fighters questline to complete the fighters guild skill line. I can confirm that too. My main character unlocked dawnbreaker (rank 10 fighters guild) and i have only done like 2 or 3 quest from the fighters guild with him.

Just want to say it again: Everybody else who experience this bug, please post here and send a bug report/ask for help too so we can finally get their attention on that issue since they did not give any useful response at all yet.

for the mages guild you need to read books to get it to max out,

You gain 5xp from each book you read..

That is true. But that is not the point of this thread. Some people report that they can not progress in the Mages Guild even though they pick up the right books.
And for me, I can not progress in the Fighters Guild skill line anymore. Even though I am killing daedras, undead, destroying anchors and so on...
It is definitely a bug, unfortunately.

My Fighters Guild skill line seems to be stuck too. Does anyone know if killing things in IC count toward leveling FG?

I'm having the same issue, although my mages guild skill tree reached to lv10. My fighters guild stuck at lv9 1599/1600 experience points. It is really frustrating as a stamina nightblade.

All Undead and Daedra slain count.

Update: redownloading and reinstalling game does not help either

You need to kill daedric and undead creatures which give XP to make their deaths count.
So, if you don't have XP - it doesn't count.

You need to gather lorebooks to make Mage's guild progress.
