However did you come up with that? Jess said it's a code fix, not that they can't fix code.
Makes it sound like they can't do fixes that requires recoding.ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »This issue requires a code fix, which is why we haven’t hotfixed it

The bug has definitely been around for ages, and I agree that it's taken them too long to fix. About the recoding though; by definition, a hotfix doesn't require a patch download, and you need a patch to fix code, so that's why they can't hotfix a code fix.

Well they have had plenty of chances to ship a fix along with a patchIt's pretty game breaking that some people can't progress a skill line.

Whenever we're able to hotfix something, we do. A hotfix is possible when the change is to certain types of data on the server or client. If a fix requires changes to anything else, that's when we require a new game build and patch (and takes substantially longer than a hotfix.) In this particular case, the fix we're testing affects the entire skill line infrastructure, so we're being extremely careful and testing extensively.

Primarily yes, but there are client-side hotfixes as well. This requires a small download to take place, but isn't a "patch" as it only affects a variable value and not any code.WalkingLegacy wrote: »Patches
You need a client side patch when the issue or change is with the player client side. The code is on our PC.
Hotfix
A hotfix is something that is handled server side thus not effecting player client.

ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »Hi everyone,
Apologies for not getting you an update on this issue before now. This issue requires a code fix, which is why we haven’t hotfixed it (it’s not hotfixable.) We have a fix we’re currently testing, and plan to roll out in a future patch. We’ll be able to provide you with a more specific timeline in the next few weeks.
You mean another 30 weeks?
