However did you come up with that? Jess said it's a code fix, not that they can't fix code.

It's merely a suspicion and a question, since I've heard from other players that this bug has existed for ages. Also the fact that she writes:
This issue requires a code fix, which is why we haven’t hotfixed it
Makes it sound like they can't do fixes that requires recoding.

The bug has definitely been around for ages, and I agree that it's taken them too long to fix. About the recoding though; by definition, a hotfix doesn't require a patch download, and you need a patch to fix code, so that's why they can't hotfix a code fix.

    You mean another 30 weeks?

Well they have had plenty of chances to ship a fix along with a patch  It's pretty game breaking that some people can't progress a skill line.

I agree man. It looks like ZOS will never fix it. Look how many people have the same issue. And nobody from ZOS staff talk to us about that! NOBODY! The support is just ignoring my tickets now. I have one ticket opened for 30 days, and I've sent messages every couple of days and no answer.

Whenever we're able to hotfix something, we do. A hotfix is possible when the change is to certain types of data on the server or client. If a fix requires changes to anything else, that's when we require a new game build and patch (and takes substantially longer than a hotfix.) In this particular case, the fix we're testing affects the entire skill line infrastructure, so we're being extremely careful and testing extensively.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom I appreciate your feedback, but I'm a bit confused about your replies. This bug has been around for a long time. This thread was created several months ago and your posts today were the first official reaction. People weren't asking for hotfixes or patches, that is more or less irrelevant, they just would like the bug to be fixed. By saying you can't "hotfix" it, you make it sound like ZOS just now learned about the bug, because there have been a number of actual patches since this bug was reported and the code fix could have been included in those.

    Patches
You need a client side patch when the issue or change is with the player client side. The code is on our PC.

    Hotfix
A hotfix is something that is handled server side thus not effecting player client.

Primarily yes, but there are client-side hotfixes as well. This requires a small download to take place, but isn't a "patch" as it only affects a variable value and not any code.

Anything that handshakes of course but that is still a patch :)

Finally ZOS answered us. Thanks. We still don't have ETA on that, but an admin came here, so they know and are working on it and I will take it.

Let's pray they are going to correct it right after the next dlc.

    Hi everyone,

Apologies for not getting you an update on this issue before now. This issue requires a code fix, which is why we haven’t hotfixed it (it’s not hotfixable.) We have a fix we’re currently testing, and plan to roll out in a future patch. We’ll be able to provide you with a more specific timeline in the next few weeks.

    Thank you for the update!

Small update: We're looking to get the fix for this into an incremental patch after Thieves Guild launches on PC/Mac, but before Dark Brotherhood.

Don't be silly. It means that in a few weeks, they'll be able to tell us how many months it will take to fix.

More than likely since it is player client side.

I understand there is no perfect MMO, bugs take time to fix, etc.

But the way ZOS treat customers is really bad, that arrogance, "we dont have to inform about bugs".

Sometimes i think the admin´s are boots, all i see is a copy paste, and Gestapo tactics censoring everything.

    "but before Dark Brotherhood"

Maybe we get a fix in march 7 or december 7, but before 2025...

one week to TG DLC by this time you guys already know i we have a fix or not in march 7

is really to much to ask speak clear? is all we want.

I've just leveled Mages guild to rank 10 just by collecting the lore-books.

Looks like the problem does not affect all the players.

Right, most don't know to do that. But the fighters guild is bugged for some.

Before dark brotherhood LOL. I am failing to see the reasons why we shouldn't all quit and return upon the holy DB update. Balance, skills actually working?! Ill believe it when i see it, which is probably never.
