We’d like to provide a little insight and clarification on the upcoming changes to collectibles.
Currently, collectible trophies work differently for those obtained via fishing versus those obtained via monster kills. Fishing trophy collectibles grant the associated achievement upon item pick-up, whereas monster-kill trophy collectibles grant the associated achievement upon use. This difference was resulting in a high volume of bug reports and feedback in which players thought the collectible trophies were broken. That combined with the availability being limited by level-range prompted us to make the system more intuitive and uniform. That’s where the upcoming changes come in.
So what do those changes consist of? Here’s a short list:We hope that helps clarify the changes. Please let us know if you have any questions!
- All collectible trophies will now grant the associated achievement when the item is first looted.
- Monster trophies will always drop off appropriate level monsters for your character. A game-wide audit was done to make sure that no matter what level you are, there is always a place you can go to work on collecting the trophy you are looking for.
- Collectible trophies can no longer be banked and traded to another character.

Supposedly we can get ALL the collectibles at any level now.
Sneak_Thief wrote: »This is the only thing patch notes say: Monster trophies now work more like fishing trophies: when you loot one, you automatically receive achievement credit, rather than having to use it as a separate action.
Here is the Issue, I can't store my monster trophies in my bank. Why is this a problem? Well unless it has changed on this patch, I only get collectibles on mobs within my level range, So what ZOS has managed to do here is make it IMPOSSIBLE for me to finish my collection.
ZOS, please explain to me how do you expect me to finish my monster collections? If you can't then undo this action. As far as I see it, you failed to mention this change in the patch notes, and therefore a bug which needs to be fixed.
I wasn't happy when today i was moving some inventory around and withdrew all my trophies on a toon to hold them there, then I can't even place them back in the bank to use on my trophy collecting toon. You had this implemented for a reason to make it easier to gather your collection for one toon, have you forgotten?
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WE HAVE A BANK FOR A REASON, IT SHOULD NEVER PREVENT US FROM STORING OUR STUFF. IF THATS THE CASE, THEN SIMPLE GET RID OF MONSTER DROPS, IF THEY ARE AUTO COLLECTED ANYWAYS. Nothing pisses me off more than getting bank space and not being able to use it because so many things i can't store.
ok rants over.
And until I see the list produced out of the game-wide audit they did that shows exactly where a character of each level in each alliance can go to get these collectibles, I flat out don't believe it. I guarantee that all they did was a query of the game to see if somewhere in the game you can find at least 1 mob of the appropriate type and level. Some of these are probably in one of the rounds of DSA, or found in a single mob at the end of a vet dungeon, or in one of the trials, or maybe even in an instance you can only go to once at a particular stage of a quest or something.Stealing this from another thread...

No you completely mis read. "Monster trophies will always drop off appropriate level monsters for your character." Means your monsters need to be your levels to get the loot. Which means Ill never finish my collection.

Can't say I like this change but there will alway be a place where you can find monsters within your appropriate level.

Oh I agree with @UrQuan , I highly doubt they made it easy. If a mob type is included in possible dolmen monsters, they probably included those too.
I don't agree with the change @Sneak_Thief which is why I went on a mission to find that thread yesterday, I was just passing along the info. I'll be quite unhappy if I can't finish the collections on my main because there is some 1/100th chance that the mob appears at some dolmen which would give me a 1/100 chance of actually getting the collectible IS the mob shows (made up number, I don't know the real chances)

Yea and that is what i am saying, Its rather unfair to say we need to go camp one spot for a week to wait on 1 mob to respawn because they just so happen to be in our level, then wait hours and hours to get a drop. If that is the case then they should open it up to all mobs, but still a stupid, unneeded change that was the way it was, for a reason.

Nothing was broken about the old system. No one was exploiting anything or getting an edge over another player. I've been playing since near launch and was just finally starting to fill in some of my monster trophy achievements. I may never get them now. Not a huge concern but as I said, frustrating changes that don't add anything to the game should be avoided if at all possible. ZOS catches anger for legit nerfs and changes. Why add an unnecessary change to the list as well?
I would like to see the collectibles drop the same way crafting mats do. Allow them to drop from mobs that are not within 5 levels. And of course, for example, is a collectible is dropped from mudcrabs, EVERY mudcrab in the game should have the same chance to drop that collectible.

One example that has been brought up over and over again is Nix hounds for vet-rank EP characters. The only location I'm aware of where they can be found for the collectible is DSA, which has 2 of them. So unless there's somewhere else they can be found for an EP character, that's totally unreasonable.Sneak_Thief wrote: »
