Does high crit-resist makes crits hit lower than non-crits?

With all the Impregnable set craze, and keeping in mind how even the devs in the last ESO-live were all rocking that set. I was wondering if high crit resistance makes critical strikes eat less of your health than non critical strikes.

If it is true, then how much crit resist do you need to reach that kind of place?

---

As a side question, how much crit resistane is enough? or too much?
Is it a smart choice to run impen on top of impregnable set?

You need 5k crit resist for overworld PvP on a non NB stam class. Not sure about magicka, tbh.

Edit. This was not the case before summerset, but now incoming damage is huge. If you do not have some sort of major protection, 5k crit is a must for small scale.

    No.

But, you can achieve to take same damages from crit & non crit. It do not depend only by your crit resist, but also from your attacker crit damage multiplier.

    Base crit damage is 50%.
Templar & NB get extra 10%.
Minor Force is extra 10%, Major Force is extra 15%
CPs can get up to extra 25%.
Archer's Mind set get extra 15%/5%.

66 crit resist reduce that amount by 1% (so basically 3300 by 50%, the base crit damage)

Generally in CP PvP, people have around 70/80% crit damage

(Also, damage absorption shields have infinite crit resistance--it's possible to crit shields, but they just don't do any bonus damage because of that infinite crit resistance.)

A thing that most people ignore, the downside of that infinite crit resist, shields also have 0 physical/magical resist. So they take raw damages, and that's why penetration "doesn't work" against shields (in fact you overpenetrate, so 0 gain). A bit off-topic but a good reminder to not become a nerf sorc thread :)

You don't need any crit resists if your spec allows you to spam strong shields as crazy - shield can't be critted at all.

You can have like 4k crit resist and stamblades will still crit you for crazy numbers, so no.

To put into perspective, the only way to reach 70-80% crit resists is to roll all impen pieces with impreg set or use trans in a CP campaign. But you WILL gimp your sustain/damage and still be subject to taking hits from attacks where the build is stacking obscene weapon/spell damage.

    60% = 3960
    70% = 4620
    80% = 5280

The old saying from some retired, but amazing ESO pvp players was this; "while crit resists are really important, % dmg mitigation reduces damage and thus reduces their crits. Same goes for damage".

Basically get your percent mitigation amps up first to a comfortable level, then stack crit resists.
