Wearing the Veil (AD-Auridon)--Endurance test with laggy computer

I have tried this portion of the quest more times than I can recall, and I cannot finish it. My computer is too laggy for this quest. I am also assuming i must beat this in order to finish this quest line (which is a major one?)? I have even tried with stamina potions/food and using my horse, but the lag it too horrid to even make it. The furthest I have gotten is just half way around. What can I do, and do you think they should add more time for those of us with really bad lagging or perhaps have an additional, alternate test for those with laggy computers? Any help and feedback is appreciated.

Edit: On a side note, how do I get out of the disguise (the earring)? It is not under the disguise section for me to remove. I do see the earring under quest items, but I do not want to destroy the item. I'm not sure if I would be able to get it back.

I always forget some people don't have the broken horse, anyone notice how it doesnt get slower when you hold the stamina button down?

Yes, sadly with laggy computers and/or bad connections, the only real way to get through these quests are due to simple luck... Fair enough for an optional quest, exceptionally stupid for a quest you MUST complete to advance the questline.

Ideally, this type of thing should not be in a quest you MUST complete to advance the storyline, period. So the best thing to do would be to either remove the quest completely, or rewrite it to be doable on slower computers (maybe replace it with a sprint along the beach, or something?). I'm in the same situation as @MistryssNite, there simply isn't any way for me to complete this quest on my slow, laggy computer. And I'm not in the financial situation to "just go out and buy a better rig". Unless a GM can go in and advance the quest for me, or I can get permission from a GM to get someone with a powerful PC to log in to my account and do that part of the quest for me, I guess this is it for me, as I won't otherwise be able to complete Cadwell's Gold and move on to further content.

Sent them an e-mail detaling the situation, and was told it would be "elevated" up to their in-game support team. That was two days ago, since that - silence. Guess I'll give it one more go tomorrow after the server reboot, before unsubbing and uninstalling.

Sadly the only "help" their "support" was able to give was 'buy a better computer'.
Needless to say, I will not be renewing my subscription.

If you can't afford simple upgrades to run the game, then yes, you are probably better off unsubbing. Should give you more free time to work on those issues that are keeping you from earning enough to afford a pc that is current.

I mean even HD4000 graphics will runderstand the game on low settings won't it? Without much fps lag anyway.

Hey there @AngryNord‌. We tend to get a few different definitions for "lag" when reports come in for this quest. Would you mind letting us know if you're experiencing FPS issues or if the issue is with your network connectivity? We'd be happy provide some workarounds for either situation.

@ZOS_GaryA In this case, FPS issues (at least in my case, although from the way the OP made her post, I'd bet FPS is/was the issue there, too).

@AngryNord Thanks, that's good to know. You can always give a shot to lowering your visual settings during this particular part. If you drop the game settings to minimum, you should notice improvements to your FPS overall, which will help you complete this particular quest.

The release of 1.4 is also going to include some changes to the way the game processes effects, which will provide a boost in FPS for those that are running on lower spec machines. Once that patch is released, give a shot to using the new effects slider in the Video settings and see if you notice an improvement.

Best of luck in your next attempt, and if you continue to experience the same issue please let us know!

@AngryNord I do apologize for the frustration there. Once the maintenance finishes, give a try to changing the effects slider in the video settings. This should provide a boost in performance and allow you to complete the race.

If not, let us know. We have some additional solutions that we can offer to help you out!

If I may suggest, ask someone to tag along with you casting Rapid Maneuver. I must confess even with stable FPS I failed this quest sometimes and couldn't complete without riding a horse. I helped a friend too running with him and killing the mobs so wouldn't slow him down. I think a good fix would be extend the quest time lenght? I doubt another minute or two would break the lore.

I have a really good computer and this quest was nearly impossible for me to complete after multiple tries. I even abandoned it and went back to it later because I despised being stuck with that appearance and no option to change it. I sent feedback expressing my deep hatred of this quest. I dont think it should be a key faction completion quest.

Hmm, I didn't think grouping up had any effect on this type of quest...
Yeah, adding 40-70 seconds to it probably wouldn't hurt

Amen good sir... I wouldn't complain if this was a side quest, that could be skipped without consequence, but this is a quest that MUST be done in order to advance the Auridon questline...

I'm sure you meant well, @ZOS_GaryA, but the effects slider was already at the lowest settings post-patch, so nothing to lower... And the suggested performance improvement on lower-end systems with v4 is nowhere to be seen, if anything, the FPS is now _worse_...

If you have a few points in stamina on your horse the mobs will hit you but you can still keep going without slowing down. I go through the path once or twice to see where the markers are and to see if I can stay on the ground and not waste time climbing ramps. With this quest you can stay on the ground and save some time avoiding the ramps. Also as mentioned if the mobs are an issue find someone to get their attention as you ride a horse through the quest or kill them right before you start the quest so nothing is in your way. The only ones that may possibly be an issue are the 2-3 by the ramp as you move towards the beach and if you ride a horse, stay on the ground avoiding the ramp and hug the wall on the left to go around them without being hit.

There's at least one ramp I can't see any way to avoid (the one past the Ayleid ruin), and there's also one portal that for me at least, spawns right on top of the Ayleid ruin, with no way of reaching but jumping, and timing that jump is next to impossible with a slow, laggy computer, poor coordination and a hyperaggressive imp pommeling you... Meaning at least 10-20 seconds wasted on repeated attempts...

Sadly never got a reply from @ZOS_GaryA, but this time I actually got extremely lucky at the Ayleid ruin and managed to catch the pillar there at the second attempt, but still ran out of time JUST before the pillar beyond the pier... And that's like, what, halfway?? This quest REALLY needs the timer extended by AT LEAST 40 seconds.

    @ZOS_GaryA

So, I was finally contacted by a CS rep promising to help me through this quest, provided I gave them a time I was online. I said I'd be online from about 2PM CEST today. I was promised a CS rep would contact me in-game at that point. Logged on about 1:40 PM, stayed online until ca 3:15. Guess what - I was NOT contacted by ANYONE despite even having sent them an email just before I logged on to confirm I'd be online. NOT particularly happy right now!!!

Though I completed the quest with a tight timing I sent feedback on it in game, to extend the quest time. Anyone sympathetic with people that for a reason or other should do the same in order to press the developers. The game is supposed to be fun not frustrating. Won't affect anyone's gameplay if some players get a buff to complete that quest somehow.

i hate all jumping required tasks i just suck at getting the timing right... took me over 30 attempts to get past this "test" on my first toon and i just passed 20 attempts on my second toon... and i have 2 more AD toons waiting in line...

please consider an alternate path for folks like me that perhaps are offered after a failure counter passes a given number of failed attempts at tasks like this.
i would suggest 10 would be enough of a penalty.

you could treat it like the way the persuade and intimidate talents work and have those options show up after a set number of fails on any task that requires fine dexterity of the gamer.

remember that folks with disabilities also play your games in my case a bad case of arthritis in my fingers and hands makes the game mechanics almost imposable to complete
