I think you may be right. Their customer support pretty much said as much & weren't very polite about it. I was checking about this bit & my try for a Diablo 4 item. They said it should be purchased either through Steam or Epic.

Can we really not obtain this mount if we don't have Steam ESO? I purchased the game through the website and use the client to launch it, I don't own the game on Steam and I'm not going to buy it a second time.

I'd love to know if I have any other avenue of making this work, the mount looks pretty. :(

I loaded the Steam version of the game onto another computer and launched it through the Nvidia app (not GeForce Now) and was finally able to get the mount.

Hi all, just wanted to follow up quickly here. We are looking into why the NVIDIA App does not automatically add the ESO "direct form ZeniMax" client. Currently investigating and will update once we have more info.

I've never been able to properly add eso to the nvidia app (or its predecessor) -- it can retain "settings" for eso64 but can't "play" or "launch" like other recognized apps (eso was not through epic or steam).

Same. Well, not 'never' per se, there have been a couple of occasions where the 'Geforce Experience' app detected ESO, but they were short lived. Maybe a patch cycle at most.

This is the ZOS supplied version rather than the Steam one.

Even after manually adding the directory where ESO 'lives' it would not detect it.

The new nvidia app (the successor to Geforce Experience) has never been able to detect it for me.

regardless of the fact that this is a great promotion if it doesn't even work well for nvidia players who don't play via Steam,
It looks like there are no codes left because they were limited

Based on what I've read from others and my own testing, the standalone "ZOS version" of the client is no longer detected as it itself depends on "steam_api64.dll" and has that file included. The NVIDIA app hides any potential "ZOS version" of the game client that has this DLL file to avoid duplicate entries showing up for Steam users (as it would detect Steam installations as both the "ZOS version" and the "Steam version").

So seems that as a workaround, one might be able to rename the file "Zenimax Online\Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\steam_api64.dll" and the Nvidia app will find/detect the game. However, to finally launch the game, one would have to rename the file back to the original name, as the game requires it to be present, but that might once again screw with the detection.

Hi all, for those that are having issues with the NVIDIA Lan mission, we are checking in with them to make sure everything is working properly. In the meantime, if you do not want to wait, you can submit a ticket to our customer service team. Please note the promotion and they should be able to assist you in the short term for the mount.

Welp, I own ESO through steam so I thought this would be no issue. Finally downloaded GeForce Now, signed up for a free account, and played the game through one of their machines, through steam, for the whole hour i was allowed to.

I got nothing so far. Yippie friggen do.
    Hoping for more playable races

If you own ESO through steam you just need the Nvidia App, and to play ESO with the nvidia app active, you don't need to use GeForce Now at all, after the requisite time you'll get a claim code under rewards in the nvidia app.

@coop500 : I am almost in the same boat as you (did not play via the GeForce Now app but in a browser).

I came to read again, the mail that NVIDIA send out to GeForce Now players, and there it says:

    Begin Quote:
    How to Participate:
Play any of the 5 GeForce Greats games missions during the Online LAN (starting Jan. 4 at 4:30 PM PST) and become eligible to receive the game’s exclusive reward. Rewards will be available to redeem on Thu Jan 9, 2025.

Act fast–rewards are first come, first serve. Don’t miss your chance to add these rewards to your collection!
    End Quote

    And in small print:
    Begin Quote
To become eligible for in-game rewards, users must launch and play a single session of the participating games. Quantities are limited. Offer valid while supplies last. Offer subject to change. Rewards will be distributed on or around Jan. 9, 2025. Rewards Promotion ends Jan. 11, 2025, 11:59 P.M. PT or while supplies last.
    End Quote

So I am waiting and praying.

    Hopefully on Jan 9.

That's only the case if you use a Nvidia GPU, which I do not. I tried installing the app and that's exactly what it told me.

I put a ticket about not being able to launch ZOS Launcher from nVidia App as suggested. ZOS customer service says put a ticket in with nVidia. I had already done that prior to concluding people who purchased directly from ZOS were precluded from this promotion.

Same boat. They did that with the previous promotions as well. If you bought directly from the ESO site, you get nothing. lol

Basically ZOS got more money from you (because Epic/Steam take 30 percent) and you get punished by getting less from them. That's life.

I opened a ticket with Nvidia and they were not helpful and didn't seem to understand my issue, it's been over 12 hours since my playtime yesterday and no Redemption on the app. I've now opened a ticket with ZOS as per Kevin's advice here and hopefully someone can help me redeem the mount, as I'd hate to miss out on it just because I don't play through Steam or Epic.

Same here. Played for an hour today and yesterday. Made sure the NVidia app was open, and double checked that the game was linked. Still nothing.

Nvidia customer service chat told me it had ta be purchased through Steam or Epic & tried saying that was the only place to get the game. I told em they better redo research on that bit lol.

this actually did make the game recognizable by nVidia app, and I was able to launch the launcher through nVidia app, but when I clicked play, it wouldn't play without the steam_api64.dll. I am trying an experiment: I moved the steam_api64.dll, launched the launcher through nVidia APP, then moved the steam_api64.dll back, and hit play. I will play for an hour and then see if I get the mount.

For the third time, and the literal title of this, I CANNOT use the app, because you need an Nvidia GPU. GeForce now is the ONLY option for AMD users.
