PSA: The Elk Promo is only for Nvidia GPU owners

Contacted ZOS Customer Support and was told the truth about this. The GeForce Now app does NOT work for this promo, you must have a Nvidia GPU at a GTX Series 10 or higher model and play the game through GeForce Experience OR Nvidia App.

So I guess AMD users and Console users are completely excluded.

Was curious if this is possible to get if I am using an AMD GPU, or am I just out of luck?

Update: People, please stop suggesting the Nvidia app. It cannot be used if you have an AMD GPU. My only choice is GeForce Now.

It should be just for using GeForce NOW the streaming service, not for owning an Nvidia card. There is a free tier of the service that might work.

It seems that one way to do it is via Nvidia app. It might be accessible that way? Or I could be mistaken.

(It would also help if Nvidia would refrain from listing it under their GeForce NOW rewards page if it is not in fact a reward for GeForce NOW.)

Update: A friend of mine was able to claim the reward after streaming for the required 50 minutes through GeForce NOW. It won't actually be delivered until the 9th. (The discrepancies on end dates between Nvidia and ESO is also a point of confusion.)

Some Nvidia content creators are saying you can use the GeForce NOW app instead of the GeForce Experience or driver app. Unfortunately I won't be able to test this on AMD hardware myself because the free memberships for GeForce NOW are all "sold out" in my region.

How do you stream? I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I have Geforce Now & a Nvidia card. With the previous horse, I just played the game on my PC & it counted. I've never streamed anything before.

I was able to complete this "mission", receive my reward code, and redeem it immediately afterwards.

I played ESO through the Geforce Now (nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/) browser-based streaming service for 60 minutes - the max session time for free accounts. Because it is browser-based, and you're essentially streaming your gameplay from a machine the service provides, I don't think the GPU type/brand or PC specs matter all that much.

Signing up was a little annoying, and I had to link my Steam account as well - since that's what I play ESO on.

The worst part was the wait - took nearly an hour for my session to start up (120 players in front of me waiting for session time). Once it did, it was pretty smooth - but performance wasn't the greatest compared to my usual PC experience, plus no addons or reshade. I just did basic housekeeping, home tours, and simple things until my hour was up.

Afterwards, I went into my nVidia app (downloaded that earlier thinking I could do everything through there... and maybe I can, but I couldn't figure it out), at which point I saw the reward on my account populate, claiming it provided me with a redemption code - then I just signed into my ESO account (elderscrollsonline.com) to redeem the code. Logged into the game and bam, new mount.

Was it all worth it?

Well...
It is a "free" mount.
It is green.
It glows in the dark.
And considering one of my main characters is a wood elf arcanist, it does kinda fit the vibe nicely - I dig it.

Hopefully that helps if anyone else is a little confused, I definitely was at first. I'll check the thread throughout the day tomorrow, if anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask and I'll try and help if I can!

So far the nividia app doesn't recognize ESO and won't let me add it manually and the geforce now app let me register for the free trial and will let me know when I can play I guess? not seeing how many players are in front of me just that i registered for the free trial which is sold out

The Nvidia App can't detect ESO no matter what i did. Even tried adding eso64.exe.

So then i played the game with an steam account, who has buyed ESO, on Geforce Now for over a hour while the free trial lasted.

Geforce Now and Nvidia App are using the same account, but i didn't get any notification about an rward.

Do we need the ESO game linked in Nvidia App to get the reward? The nvidia FAQ page, https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5609, only says we need to use app.

I also tried to add the game to the app but I found out that this issue is around since the Elsweyr update. And it was never fixed. So I just quitted the idea of trying to add the game.

Also like others, I can't figure out how to play my ESO through it & I got it through the ESO website. So how are peeps doing this? My GeForce Now is a free membership & I don't see cloud anywhere on the website.

No idea what that screen is, or what CloudGG is - I'd say you're probably doing something wrong.

Maybe I was lucky because I already had a free Nvidia account (was that some bonus thing I got back in the day? I dunno), but I definitely didn't have to pay anything for my account or to use the service for an hour. Just had to watch some ads and wait to queue.

Nothing about it was straight forward though, the honestly couldn't have made it more of a convoluted process if they tried.

If you've got a free membership, then forget the app for the moment.

Go here in a browser (nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/) and Login. Once logged in, scroll down a bit and you'll see a green icon button saying "Play Now" - click it.

That should open a new tab (play.geforcenow.com or something) and you should see "My Library" and then the accounts/games you have linked/connected.

For me, it showed 1 of 5 connected accounts, and then I could also see ESO with an "In-Game Event" tag on it. Hovering over it should give you the option to play (make sure ad-block is off when you queue - mine wasn't the first time and my queue failed after waiting a bit, was pretty lame).

If ESO isn't there, click on the Connect Accounts option and see if you can connect your Steam or xbox accounts.

Hopefully that helps a bit!

I had success unlocking the mount using the Steam client while running the Nvidia App. I was unable to get the app to detect the standard ESO client.

So did you just have the Nvidia app open and running in the background while playing ESO on Steam?

I tried that originally and didn't get any notice or indication of any reward - and my app has no problem detecting all of my Steam games (they all show up under Home).

Yes, I had the NVidia app opened while I had both the Steam Launcher and Steam ESO client open. Not sure which it was detecting since the Nvidia app only took me to the Zenimax Online folder in my steamapps installation directory.

i just had the nvidia app open en played the game trough steam, played way more thn 50 min, closed game took 30min shower(very importnant to get the reward), and reward wasnt in yet, closed the nvidia app and restarted it as recommended on the site and got an notification symbol in the redeem part,

so if u have problems try restarting the app

My eso is from this website not Steam or Xbox but I do have the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Would that count? Looking at the App, it doesn't show that I own the game as I bought it from this website & not from Epic or Steam.

Did you log out of the GeForce app and logged back in? After relogging the reward should show up in the Redeem tab of the app.
Edit: I did no use GeForce Now though, so it might me different

Yeah this sounds like too much trouble lol, way too unclear. Some of us just wanna play eso and not spend time troubleshooting and playing with some outside app. Might be a nice mount to bring back in a future golden pursuit or something!

@ESO_player123 , Yes I logged in and out a few times. Nothing is showing up to be redeemed in the Nvidia app. Also, the Nvidia app doesn't detect the ESO game client, so playing through that didn't give me any reward either.

Edit: Played for an hour using the Windows GeForce Now App with the Nvidia app running minimized. Then played for an hour through GeForce now on my phone. Then played for another hour through GeForce Now on my computer with a web browser with the Nvidia app running minimized again. Something is obviously broken for me.

I own the Steam version but only have the client that I purchased from this website installed. The client from the Zenimax store does not show up at all in the Nvidia app game library and hasn’t for several months now.

So this promotion only works if you have the steam version installed?

It looks like you can manually add a program to the Nvidia App but how do you do it so it'll play? I didn't get mine through steam.
