Suggestion: Monster set pieces from normal dungeons

I propose the idea of being able to get blue quality monster set pieces from normal dungeons.

The reason behind this is giving more options to the players in terms of making their builds and not getting kicked out of veteran dungeons due to using builds that are seen as insufficient,
such as a health resource using dps vampire build (with blood for blood). And i mean 64 health and still choosing to do dps. This is just an example.

I would agree for DLC dungeons as a lot of players struggle with these specially on vet,but base game dungeons are easy and quick enough.

Difference between blue and purple is irrelevant. There already is an alternative way to obtain monster sets: The Golden merchant.

Someone just starting out doesn't need DLC monster sets. Monster sets from the vanilla dungeons are still used in many builds.

Also one can choose to farm AP or gold and buy monster sets from The Golden vendor in Cyrodiil. Her selection is random and not ideal for looking for a specific set, but this is the true alternative to farming the sets via vet dungeons and undaunted keys.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I said other, because this would kill a lot of vet content in the only difference was quality bc people already farm on normal for most gear (except maybe jewelry). It is so cheap and easy to upgrade. However, creating a version that only gave a two piece bonus and then converting all helms into perfected versions would be a potential way to make this work. There still should be an incentive to do on vet, so I think perfected monster helms could be a way to do that. The other option would be to create a new (not that powerful) monster set that you can purchase for 1 key from Maj. This would mean when you get to 45 and can start Undaunted pledges everyone could buy a basic helm (maybe three options - one for each role). This would be able to serve as a tutorial for how helms work and that they even exist.

Monster sets are something to strife for when you ascend from beginner to vet. There would be no need to do vet content anymore.

You want instant gratification, but once you get it it's meaningless. And to be honest if you don't do hardmode almost all dungeons can be pugged.

I don't agree with the idea that monster sets should come from challenge and adversity specifically.

-The golden vendor lets you get hats without running content at all.
-The availability of hats is not evenly distributed by difficulty. Kragh is from fungal 1 on vet and is a VERY attractive 1 or 2 piece, while Chudan comes from a DLC dungeon and is largely ineffective. Its main buffs come from readily available skills and does not stack.
-Normal arenas and normal trials drop weapons and armor.

I WOULD agree with a vet hard mode clear resulting in perfected monster sets hence forth. Add a line of additional benefit thematic to the set on the 2 piece bonus similar to perfected weapons and armor.

ZOS has been moving towards vet content having better gear (i.e., better stats, not just better color/quality) than normal in recent years. They even shoe-horned it into Vet Maelstrom. So I can't imagine they will add the same monster helms to normal dungeons. Or they'll add them but then come out with "perfected" heads and shoulders that we need to farm all over again, like what happened with VMA.

Be careful what you wish for with ZOS. They have a habit of giving it to us in the most player-unfriendly ways.

I'm thinking ZOS might implement this with a wonderful twist. Normal dungeons drop all the monster helms in their current state, at blue quality. Veteran would then drop perfected versions of all those helms that you'd have to regrind.

I'm not suggesting I like the idea, but it was popular enough for ZOS to go ahead with it for arenas a while back when they added perfected there so I'm sure they would consider it again.

I doubt very serious that ZOS would incentivize hard modes with anything other than consmetics. They want, or said they want, to make the progression points between normal to vet and vet to vet hardmode smoother. Putting anything functional in hard modes would run counter to that.

If they ever did, and they handled it the same way that they handled vMA, they outcry from the players would be severe.

iirc, there used to be a chance for a blue quality helm to drop from normal. Clearly, Zenimax chose to eliminate that, and it was likely to incentivize doing vet. So I doubt Zenimax will revert that change. Besides, the golden vendor is there for those who do not want to put in the effort of clearing a specific dungeon.

I think it'd be better to offer more of the set style items in other locations so that people not interested in IC/Vet Dungeons could get them.

Personally, I only run Veteran Dungeons for the Helmets so if the Helmets were in normal I'd basically never touch Veteran.

My impression is that some players actually like Veteran so, removing players like me would likely have a negative impact on them.

If the truth actually is that next to nobody likes Veteran it might be worth considering but, I'm not sure that's the case.

They should make Monster Sets with Non-Perfected versions that drop in Normal, and Perfected versions that drop in Veteran, just like how all Trials (except a few) and Arenas do these days. Because Group Dungeons are a key steppingstone into endgame content and should have that same system of progression. And I don't see anyone complaining about Non-Perfected versions of gear dropping in Normal for any of the other content, so why should Group Dungeons be treated any different.

Also, Monster Sets just aren't as special as they used to be. With the introduction of Mythics that are easy to get (just grindy) and usually stronger, most people have no problem choosing a Mythic over a Monster Set.

For what it's worth, I absolutely despised how zos went about the change to vMA weapons, telling us to just re-grind those weapons instead of upgrading the ones that we had already earned. But I think overall it was good change for the sake of progression.

Return to shoulders dropping from normal dungeon runs and Helms from vet.

My idea for The Golden is offer 2 sets per week in rotation helms and shoulders pieces both at the same time. As new sets are added to the game place them at the bottom of the current list. Do the same for the gold jewelry from each dungeon as the helms and shoulders drop.

Example would be Shadows of the Hist week.

    Cradle of Shadows
Velidreth Helm and shoulder pieces. Gossamer, Hand of Mephala and Widowmaker rings and necklaces.

    Ruins of Mazzatun
Mighty Chudan Helm and shoulder pieces. Amber Plasm, Aspect of Mazzatun and Heem-Jas' Retribution rings and necklaces.

Next week would be Horns of the reach DLC.

    Stay safe :)

I mean if you want to increase the issue with speed running normal dungeons 200 fold them yeah go right ahead. Personally I don't see this as a good idea partly for the above reason but also because mythics are locked behind a wall, overworld boss grinds for example, many of which are quite challenging and very difficult without help. It's not a one and done, it takes effort. I probably spent a cumulative 20 odd hrs in game to get the kilt which is less then you would spend working through one vet dungeon, especially base game for things like slimcraw. For the gold vender you need to grind ap which requires significant pvp effort or gold which is at a cost generally out of reach for newer players. Just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
