Music from Gold coast location - everywhere in the world.

My dear moderators of patch-makers, i BEG you - make this annoying music from gold coast STOP!!! It is everywhere - in every location!! It is really boring and has nothing similar to atmosphere of Mournhold or Greenshade - but it sound there ALL THE TIME!!! PLEASE - bring the old music for every location back! I stopped my ESO Plus membering- because I can't play ESO, like i did, BECAUSE of THAT music. The main to me in every Elder Scrolls game was atmosphere, now i don't recognize the world. Only Morrowind changes that for now.
But i don't get - is that a Bug on my version of the game, or you really fond of those violins and really removed good music by THAT..(
Sorry for emotions, but i can't stand it anymore...

Wasn't Dark Brotherhood when they updated the entire games main soundtrack, they added new tracks from other zones and expanded over all.

As much as I love the soundtrack, I will say that I find it odd to hear music that was made for Abah's Landing playing when I'm in Stonefalls. It sounds out of place and takes away from the atmosphere. I get that it is nice for "vanilla" players to have more fresh music, but if the sound design team wrote a piece to fit to a certain location or setting, it should stay in that location. I would like to hear different music in Deshaan to Orsinium, for example.

@SoundMaster is there any chance of this changing in the future?

The only places it should be playing are The Gold Coast, Rivenspire, and the northern half of Glenumbra. If you are hearing it anywhere else, that truly is a bug. Where else are you hearing it...Mournhold and Greenshade?

I don't completely disagree. But like you say...

    > I get that it is nice for "vanilla" players to have more fresh music

...players commented that they were tired of hearing the same small (if three hours is small) selection of music throughout the Vanilla game, so this seemed like a nice way to address that - using the new music in older areas that are a close match in "vibe". I mean while I think Abah's music works in Stonefalls, you're not going to hear it in Bleakrock. :)

Music takes time to fade out when you teleport between zones.

For example, if you are in Reaper's March and port to Vvardenfell, it will take a few minutes before the music changes from the Reaper's March soundtrack to Vvardenfell's (it will be a gradual transition). I think this is what you might be noticing OP.

I love the music in ESO, one of the best game soundtracks ever!

But I must say that I truly miss logging in at Shornhelm and listening to the awesomeee "they did not die in vain" track. :frowning: Very inmersive feeling surrounded by all the breton buildings and distant peaks!

I'm so sorry, but I have to agree.

I absolutely love ESO music, but since Orsinium DLC came out, the original soundtrack of the game has almost disappeared. I barely hear any songs from the original soundtrack, and it became even worse when more DLCs launched. Now, most of it is DLC music, from Orsinium, Hew's Bane or Gold Coast everywhere. Even in Vvardenfell...!

ESO music is my favourite music of all games, the other day in a 9h bus travel I put it in my phone so I could relax. But seriously, I used to love so much Orsinium music, then I grew so tired of it, and same is happening with every DLC music now, because it only repeats itself over and over and over. Please, do something about this xD Sometimes I've even heard DLC music in Cyrodiil.

That's, really interesting. I remember trying to find that track that plays in Northen Glenumbra and Craglorn for ages. It never occurred to me that the zones had internally divided regional tracks though.

I agree. The Gold Coast music gets annoying fast. There needs to be something else in lower Craglorn.

Furthermore why cant we get the Vvardenfel bard music in other Dark elf zones?

I have to say it, but the Gold Coast music, particularly the Kvatch tracks (GC music is split into two halves - Kvatch and Anvil), is my favourite in game. I love the fact that they play in Rivenspire and Northern Glenumbra.

However, I'm a little peeved about only hearing Wrothgar or Hew's Bane music in Stonefalls, Deshaan and Shadowfen. Neither of those two soundtracks fits into Shadowfen at all. I would prefer to have the OST back for Shadowfen, Gold Coast in Deshaan (Deshaan's storyline is after all about a criminal scam/conspiracy leading to the deaths of hundreds of people), and possibly stick with Wrothgar music in Stonefalls.

AD is very boring in that its all OST music across all 5 zones. Maybe mix it up a little? Maybe Malabal Tor could get the Gold Coast treatment, and the northern half of Grahtwood?

I love the Skyrim (Eastmarch/Riften/Bleackrock) music as well. It worth noting that the one additional Thieves Guild track created for Fulstrom Homestead has now been added to the Skyrim zones.

I am a massive fan of OST's in general, and often listen to Two Steps from Hell, Immediate Music, and Audiomachine even when I'm not playing the game. I also have a lot of Hans Zimmer's stuff.

What the OP should be hearing in Deshaan right now is the Hew's bane/Abah's landing soundtrack, not Gold coast.

Also, can we get an option to turn off combat music altogether so the soundtrack itself is uninterrupted?

Chill out, mkay. The Gold Coast soundtrack is actually extremely nice to listen to, and I don't mind it paying in other areas. Same goes for all the DLC music. While I like much of the original ESO music, I think the DLC soundtracks were significantly better, on par with Soule and Skyrim.

If it's such a huge bother to you, just play your own music. I'm often bothered by the combat music always interrupting the nice soundtrack, so I usually just mute the game and play all the ESO soundtracks, which I have downloaded.

Hm. Seems like the biggest takeaways here are:

    1. There may be an issue with music playing in the wrong zones / not changing when you jump to a new zone.

    2. There's no single solution that will make everyone happy, re: what music plays in what zones.

#1 I can look into. #2 I'll have to think about some more. :)

Oh, and #3 - "bypassing combat music"...that mental debate goes all the way back to day one. One the one hand, it feels odd to me to keep playing the pretty music while you're in combat. On the other hand, when you're out adventuring you're in combat SO DAMN MUCH that it feels odd to me to constantly be stopping the pretty music. I totally get that. In fact one of the first things we did was make sure combat music doesn't play when you engage critters. But for engaging hostiles, it does play.

So...<INSERT STANDARD "I'M NOT MAKING ANY PROMISES" DISCLAIMER>...yeah, I can look into the possibility of a "bypass combat music" button. Just don't get your hopes up, mkay? :)

Going to pick this snippet here...bolded part in particular.

Being a lifelong musician and having listened to hundreds of hours of various symphonies in literally hundreds of other games, yes three hours is a pretty small selection to scale. Particularly when you're playing in a zone for 8 hours or more a day. The Final Fantasy Tactics OST runs about 2 1/2 hours with single loops for a game about 100 hours long or so. (And that's mega ultra completionist "I have to have everyone maxed out" length.) After about 1000 hours, it gets a little old. All the same, I like the new tunes.

My solution for number 3? I have the music turned down so i can hear it when its quiet. When in combat, combat is too loud and dont hear any music. It is helpful to have combat music at the start tho, so I know I went into combat. Just... well..mountain < molehill.

Well, I didn't want to open a different thread for this so...

There's a similar bug occurring in the Imperial City: if you die and there's no district under the control of you alliance you are obviously forced to spawn back in the sewer base and the music of the Death Recap phase doesn't stop, doesn't matter where you go or what you do.

It doesn't definitely fit having a bunch of priests singing at your ear while you're fighting a District boss or another player...
They may be good at singing but it just doesn't fit :disappointed:

The Gold Coast music also plays in Cyrodiil, but I love it. That music is perfect for traveling cross country like Cyrodiil.

The only change in music I never liked was the Hollow City change from the pretty glimmer of Hope music to the very stale "Crow's Wood" oblivion theme. I believe the music that used to play in the Hollow City currently plays in Eastmarch.

However, the music in ESO is gorgeous and I love the new Morrowind music. Love the addition of new music to old zones; brought new life into those areas.

@Soundmaster - Brad, since we have you here... As a fellow composer and producer working in music industry for 15+ years now I'd like to give my kudos to you and your team for those two tracks:

ESO OST - "Whispers of the Ancestors"
ESO OST - "Sands of the Alik'r"

I like how those two simple themes build up in a such smart way, and while imitating their own subsequent motifs, they eventually "blossom" without being grandiloquent/pompous nor overly "decorated". Whether intentional or not, there's also a bit of lyrical EE touch there.

    Cheers!

Yeah, we saw that internally for a bit. I didn't think that had slipped out into the wild. But it appears that perhaps it did. We'll look into it...thanks for calling that out.
