No Text Chat and No Subtitles on console basically ruins the game for them.
Way to go ZoS... two things you COULD HAVE included that would allow that person to play, you didn't.

Given that its only one day into release and they have already acknowledged launch issues, I really think this thread is a bit premature.
Any text up on my console (that is a reasonable distance from my couch), that was not so big as to obscure a big portion of my screen, would be frustrating. Plus with a controller it would not be as easy to look back on text history wizzing by. Neverwinter has text and I personally find it pointless.
What it does need is more options for voice channels that you can toggle on and off. While I like the area voice chat, I want a zone voice chat as an option or at least some sort of merchant channel.
from what I was able to test yesterday, given the launch issues, I really like the fading effect as you walk away from each other and the fact you can just turn on and off Area and group, if you want.
Not sure how I am going to feel when I hear peoples favorite music playing in the background when I am trying to hold a conversation with someone, and leaving the area (such as at a crafting station) is not an option.

Why is my blind friend being left out when shouting 'discrimination' rants to ZOS? He has to listen to vc and would be out of the loop if text was added. He loves to listen to the sounds of the game and interact vocally with people on a game. It makes him happy and he seems to forget about his disability while on a game. That would all be taken away from him with text chat...and that is not ok!

@defcon.dealer1b14_ESO Don't try to twist this. Currently, your blind friend can't even play the game if he/she is completely blind. And voice chat is currently in the game.
These people aren't asking for voice to be removed; they're asking for text chat to be added. Big difference bud...

"twist" wat? Are u telling me that my friend who is visually impaired doesn't get a sense of joy and overall happiness with getting on a game to socialize with other ppl as well as enjoy the sounds of the game? That's speculation on ur part and ur being extremely judgmental.
He will be missing out on a lot if text were added because text would be used by some at times. Text is already on the Pc version, so the hearing impaired have a place to go that caters to their needs....console Vc caters to my friends needs....and most console players needs/wants as well.

Stop. Just stop right now. Now he's no longer blind; he's visually impaired. Get your story straight, because someone who is completely blind is missing out on a lot more than just the audio.
Again, quit being a snob about it. You're telling people to jump on the PCMASTERRACE train if they have hearing problems. I don't know what's so difficult about this. People aren't asking for ZOS to remove voice chat, but instead want additional ways to communicate.

You can split hairs all u want, if that makes u feel more supreme....fact is, blind, visually impaired, sight challenged...it's the same...he can't read/see text. I'm sure he would take offense to that awful remark about him missing out on more than just audio......it's a shame that ppl without disabilities are so eager to judge. He has rolled several games with us on console and has a fantastic time.
I'm not telling anyone wat to do, I'm saying if they want text, there is a version of this game with text.

And I would take offense that you are telling those with hearing impairments to go buy a mid-high end PC to enjoy the game...
