I would love to do some RP again, but without the textchat, there is just no way for me to do that. At least for that I need textchat.

    No, leave text chat out.
Good to be back on ESO today. I was on defiance and had to deal with 'lfg' texts, 'wanna buy my gun' texts, f-bombs typed every other word, ppl typing racial slurs, typing politics, making fun of my blind friend who needs vc, typing words to songs they were listening to, had to go to my psn virtual keyboard to tell them I was tellin on them and they in return, tattled on me for tattlin.....and that took 10 minutes of tattlin and screenshots, filling out paperwork to tattle..and disrupted my gaming... and all kinds of vial things!!! :/

Glad to be back to vc only, whew!! B) Thank you ZOS!

Given that its only one day into release and they have already acknowledged launch issues, I really think this thread is a bit premature.

Any text up on my console (that is a reasonable distance from my couch), that was not so big as to obscure a big portion of my screen, would be frustrating. Plus with a controller it would not be as easy to look back on text history wizzing by. Neverwinter has text and I personally find it pointless.

What it does need is more options for voice channels that you can toggle on and off. While I like the area voice chat, I want a zone voice chat as an option or at least some sort of merchant channel.

from what I was able to test yesterday, given the launch issues, I really like the fading effect as you walk away from each other and the fact you can just turn on and off Area and group, if you want.

Not sure how I am going to feel when I hear peoples favorite music playing in the background when I am trying to hold a conversation with someone, and leaving the area (such as at a crafting station) is not an option.

There is a deaf player who recently posted on the forums.

No Text Chat and No Subtitles on console basically ruins the game for them.

Way to go ZoS... two things you COULD HAVE included that would allow that person to play, you didn't.

It's quite unfortunate that a person with hearing impairments cannot enjoy the game simply because there is no text chat. They can see and feel, but not hear. Can't even enjoy the game with friends. =\

Because that's what Udefrykte would vote.

(By the way, devs, please bring him somewhere into the game, he's as necessary as Mai'q).

This right here, even if it were the Only reason is enough to have text and subtitles included.
@ZOS you are discriminating against a whole section of the gamer population by not including these features and it goes against all your other anti-discrimination policies in your TOS and Code of Conduct.

Or is Tamriel Unlimited to be actually Limited to those with only whole and healthy bodies to play with?

PC version for the hearing impaired, it has text.

Why is my blind friend being left out when shouting 'discrimination' rants to ZOS? He has to listen to vc and would be out of the loop if text was added. He loves to listen to the sounds of the game and interact vocally with people on a game. It makes him happy and he seems to forget about his disability while on a game. That would all be taken away from him with text chat...and that is not ok!

Works fine on DC Universe on my PS4, I don't find it intrusive at all and is easy to use.

Haven't watched this video, just randomly found it, go to 3:10 and you can see the DC Universe chat on the PS4, easily viewable from my sofa, not taking up much of the screen

@defcon.dealer1b14_ESO Don't try to twist this. Currently, your blind friend can't even play the game if he/she is completely blind. And voice chat is currently in the game.

These people aren't asking for voice to be removed; they're asking for text chat to be added. Big difference bud...

"twist" wat? Are u telling me that my friend who is visually impaired doesn't get a sense of joy and overall happiness with getting on a game to socialize with other ppl as well as enjoy the sounds of the game? That's speculation on ur part and ur being extremely judgmental. His money spends just as well as anyones..and it's not his fault he can't see like u and I.

He will be missing out on a lot if text were added because text would be used by some at times. Text is already on the Pc version, so the hearing impaired have a place to go that caters to their needs....console Vc caters to my friends needs....and most console players needs/wants as well.

Stop. Just stop right now. Now he's no longer blind; he's visually impaired. Get your story straight, because someone who is completely blind is missing out on a lot more than just the audio.

Again, quit being a snob about it. You're telling people to jump on the PCMASTERRACE train if they have hearing problems. I don't know what's so difficult about this. People aren't asking for ZOS to remove voice chat, but instead want additional ways to communicate.

ill be honest i do like it without text chat . the less i see of some of these stupid gamer tags the better
on the other hand communication does totally suck .. its a catch 22
the area voice chat is a bit sad , as i got on for a few and kids were screaming at each other , people were open mics
i mean my first try at it , i shut it down within 5 minutes

There are lots of good reasons in this thread made in favor of adding text chat. They were also all made before hand as well. Anyway, I hope it gets added especially for trade, pvp, and guild reasons.

You can split hairs all u want, if that makes u feel more supreme....fact is, blind, visually impaired, sight challenged...it's the same...he can't read/see text. I'm sure he would take offense to that awful remark about him missing out on more than just audio......it's a shame that ppl without disabilities are so eager to judge. He has rolled several games with us on console and has a fantastic time.
