GAME CRASHING HAS RETURNED :(

Just in case it may help someone. I posted this some time ago in another thread:

    Playing since pre-release. Subscribed.

Since 1.6/2.0 I am experiencing a new sensation while I play. Fear. Fear to CTD. Some examples of CTD during this last weeked (played around 10 hours every day)
    • Entering Elden Root to collect the pledge or the reward. CTD 3 of 4 times (I did 3 pledges and got 5 crashes)
    • Fighting in a group dungeon. right in the middle of the fight. 2 CTD + <<1>>+endless loading screen so around 5/6 mins to be able to rejoin the fight... if I dont get another <<1>>...
    • Entering a wayshrine. 2/3 CTD
    • Coming out from wayshrine. 2/3 CTD
    • Running in the wild, just farming mats. 2/3 CTD
    • Checking the map. 1 CTD
    • Entering a building (usually a bank) 2 CTD
    • Coming out of building 3/4 CTD
    • Doing nothing at all (just leave the character doing nothing and go for a quick sandwich and when I come back, a nice CTD¡¡¡
    • Never had a crash while at a crafting station. I used them all (the 6) this weekend, a no problem there.

Well, I am probably missing some CTDs, (I just wrote the ones I recall),

I also have the graphic glitch when I enter many houses (missing floor and walls) and sometimes if I get inside too quick, I end falling down the void and reapearing in a near wayshrine...

Regarding loading screens, well, several times, specially when you are grouped, they take several minutes to load, but this weekend I just had to kill one of these before i lost patience, so not a big problem with that, but if they could be removed, so much better for all.

I dont recall problems in Cyrodill, but this week I played PvE there, not PvP.

Unfortunately this is a reality. At least in my end. I use the very same computer since the begining, and never had those problems before 1.6/2.0. I have a decent cable internet connection, and 90% of the time the game works fine. However all these crashes and lost time in really annoying and sad.

Congratulations to all the players who do not suffer this, how lucky you are¡¡, but this is my game since 1.6 update.

3 days ago, after reading other threads in this forum, I changed manually the graphics driver from D3D9 to D3D11 in the game's config file (Usersettings.txt). After this change I havent had no crash at all. Not a single crash in 3 days.

I hope this can help some of the players having these issues

Usually after an indefinite amount of time gaming or sometimes just swapping between alts
Also the patchmanifest error despite numerous repairs
What have you done to 1.6 to cause all this

Since 2.0.2, and continuing with 2.0.3, I have had permanent graphics freezes, where the screen stops updating but the sound plays on for a while. Then the game stops completely and needs to be killed from the desktop. I did not change anything in the OS, the graphics card or the graphics drivers, and my drivers are up to date. This issue was introduced with 2.0.2, and it continues to happen. It's particualrly prone to happen if I alt-tab to the desktop to check on some things and then keep playing, but it happens anyway.

The problem is not with my GPU overheating. I have checked that, and it's running cooler in ESO than in other games where I don't have this problem.

This happens on a mid-range 4-core AMD CPU, competent enough to play the game but not a monster, and a silent cooling Nvidia GT640 GPU, also competent enough to play on High settings but not good enough to do all the bells and whistles.

I had random crashing, but not enough to walk away.

Now, suddenly, with nothing changed, I can't take a single step thru Eyevea without it freezing up.
My rig may not be "super powered" but it's still better than average for what folks run this game on. This is getting ridiculous. I'm very happy that I stopped sinking my money into this.
What I lack in gameplaying ability I make up for in smack talk.

    Exactly this!
Does not happen very often, but at a now noticeable frequency. Riften in particular appears to be more prone for this than other locations.
Never had that before... ever. And I was here since EA.

I've been getting the screen graphics freeze freezestefan.gustavsonb16_ESO describes for the last few days. I just want to play the game and I pay $14.99 a month for plus membership. Please fix this as soon as possible this is like my favorite game and I can't even play it at this rate. This freeze occures every 30 minutes to an hour & a half for me. I have a GT 755m 2GB GDDR5, I7 4700MQ 2.4-3.2GHZ, 8GB Memory. I can run at max on 1080p just fine have about 25-30fps more fps on lower resolutions. Can any official ZOS staff, moderator, provide a fix, solution, or at least let us know it's being fixed or investigated? I can't even play the game at all and feel like I'm gonna go crazy as I LOVE this game. Yes I've tryed lower graphics settings doesn't fix it.

    Greetings everyone here!

We recommend that players who are experiencing crash issues on their Windows 32-bit PC to follow the steps below:

Locate and access the Usersettings.txt file

By default this file is located here:
    •C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
    or
    •C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu

Find the line SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" or SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9" in the file.
Change the line to: SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OPENGL". Please save the file after making the change.

Should the game keep crashing, please contact our dedicated Customer Support team and include the following information in your ticket:
•A copy of the Game Consultant information: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6690
•A copy of the MSInfo for further investigation: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4463

These files can be attached to the ticket. Please note that these files can be very large and should not be copy/pasted into the contents of an e-mail.

Please be assured that this is a temporary workaround to allow you to enjoy playing the game while we research a more substantial solution to this crashing issue that continues to happen.

Some players have reported success in disabling a specific windows update that was applied, but at this time we do not have confirmation which update it was or whether it was effective.

    Gunna give this a go.

Wow, that didn't work at all. I couldn't get past the loading screen because it was so "choppy"

I'm running 64 bit, so this defiantly does not help.

Okay, after doing a Repair of the game, that made things WORSE if that's possible. Got the dreaded Black Screen instead of the login screen. Rebooted, restored my old UserSettings, and finally at least was able to log in. Game lasted all of 1 minute before I crashed by simply MOVING in Grahtwood.

I NEVER had this many problems with the game and my machine has NOT changed.

Typical tech support would ask why haven't you upgraded your video drivers.

Untypical tech support would ask you why you haven't overclocked your E6850 yet (probably can't because it is a HP desktop system).

    Greetings all,

Thank you for your patience and constructive contributions towards helping each other work towards resolving some of the crashing issues that are being reported!

We want to assure you that our engineers are researching the reports of crashing, and working to determine a cause and solution to as many as possible. At this time, we do want to remind you that crashing is a symptom of what could be several different root causes, and as such a solution that works for one player may not work for another.

We have identified a couple of different sources of crashes, and 32-bit systems in particular are being researched at this time. Some players with 32-bit OS are able to resolve their crashing issues and have a more stable experience by changing their UserSettings to OpenGL, but this may not work for all players or all graphics cards.

Please also be reminded that as our game grows with every patch, the data and system requirements may change at any time. If you were able to play using medium or high settings previously, please try turning all of your settings to minimum to see if that may help resolve any crashing issues you may have.

As our game grows and evolves, our system requirements to play on various settings may also change. We are working hard to determine the best ways to keep you in Tamriel having a great time, and thank you again for your patience.

As always, the best way to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information regarding these issues is to keep in contact with our dedicated Customer Support team. If you have submitted a ticket, please be sure you're responding to the agent if your initial troubleshooting steps do not resolve your issue. The agent will be able to provide further troubleshooting at that time.

Again, been playing since beta and it has NEVER been this bad, so please stop blaming people's build, tweaks, the weather, Congress, karma, etc AND FIX THE DAMN GAME ALREADY.

Typical tech support would ask why haven't you upgraded your video drivers.

Untypical tech support would ask you why you haven't overclocked your E6850 yet (probably can't because it is a HP desktop system).

Well, according to my NVidia update wizard, I am up to date. Also, as noted, all was dandy before the upgrade.

The video card driver in your system was released in 2013, nearly two years ago. You might want to go to the Nvidia site and grab the latest version for your 560 Ti.

Has today's patch fixed the crashing issue?

Not to my knowledge, I crashed in Cyradiil after roughly an hours play time. The game recommends Ultra setting for my rig, but I always put my settings at medium when in Cyradill to reduce the load. I beginning to wonder, on top of the other bugs, if there is not a memory leak also happening.

I suspect there is. I can usually play for 2 hours before my first crash, then I can't seem to play the rest of the day.
