Chat Window No Longer Fades

So I have been having an issue for a while, I can't seem to get the chat window to fade any more. Even while people are not talking I have this big intrusive window sat on my screen.
I tried disabling all my add-ons to check that's not the cause and still seem to have the issue. Any ideas?
Update: So the issue seems to be that my fade slider is set to 100, however I can't adjust that slider at all. Checking with a friend and his value is zero but he neither can change the slider.

wolfydog✭✭✭I have the same problem. I always set my chat window at 100 so it never fades out. I have trouble reading the text when its not on the black backgrounds.
Anyways, some of my toons, I made a long time ago th chat window is fine how I want it.
But if I make a new toon, I cannot adjust the window. The little slider is not there. I also tried disabling addons and such and no luck.0 -
Royalty27✭✭I'm having the same problem. I know I can hide the chat window by clicking the the bottom corner but I don't want it hidden all the time, only when people aren't talking.0 -

Cyrene✭Just today I walked into a crafting station in Rivenspire and out of nowhere and for no apparent reason my chat window dislodged itself from the left edge of screen, zoomed across to the middle of my screen and parked itself there "just because." I have tried all the usual stuff log out quit restart clear caches but nothing works. I now have a floating box (and when that gently fades) floating text right in the middle of my screen. How do I fix this ZoS?0 -

You can wrangle the chat box by clicking and holding any of the "channel" names and moving it. If you haven't made any changes to your chat channels, you can simply grab it by the word Chat and move it where you'd like!
If it isn't able to move, hover over the chat window and select the gold cog in the top right corner. There is an option to lock and unlock the chat window there.0 -

I realize this is a month old but I'm having the same issue and I still don't see anything in patch notes. Is this being addressed?

✭Yes! This issue should be resolved in Update 6. As others have mentioned, for now the workaround is to set the chat box setting back to default. Thanks for all of your patience!1 -
