Nothing quite as Ironic as introducing new incentive for dungeon groups (undaunted pledges) and breaking the LFG tool in the same patch... :/

20+ min in que - no group what so ever

Asking for a grp in chat fixes that issue. But bottom line LFG tool does NOT work right now.

I spent a couple of hours searching to tank when I hit the low 40s yesterday and didn't find anything. So I had tank selected when I started the search. I managed to get a group by responding to zone chat spam. When I entered that group I had no preferred role set and someone else that joined the group also had no role. Could it be that the group finder is clearing the selected roles?

It could be. The only official comment to this fiasco is that they are aware of it and they were working on a solution, first week after patch. They stopped looking for it now, as players literally stopped using LFG tool.
It's probably the same as no AH, lag, combat un-responsiveness, patching and other bugs that have been here from start. They either don't have knowledge or desire to fix it.

Agreed @Razzak. Zos is way past overdue for fixing the basics like the those things you mention. Lag, unresponsiveness, weapon swapping and the rest is really no better than it was back in beta. This long after release and I'm thinking theres no way that they actually can fix these issues.

Zeni doesn't even acknowledge all of the issues and what is being done to remedy them. We get the "we are aware and working on a fix" sometimes. Or we get the claimed fix in the patch notes, but that means diddly squat, because these things are still barely working. No faith in them whatsoever.

as said they should concentrate only in 4 things right now till is complete well fixed and then think in other things like content, etc:

    1) responsiveness problem and this is HIGH PRIORITY ISSUE.
    2) Lag.
    3) Primal functionalities as LFG Tool working well.
    4) Broken skills, stats and etc that are not working as intended.

Do this and your game will be fine.

Hey guys, we’d like to give you an update as to what’s going on with the Grouping Tools. We are currently working on a backend fix that will ensure you are placed into a group faster if you meet all requirements, without having to wait for other players in front of you in the queue, and are aiming to get this fix out in the next incremental patch. The actual design of the tool will still remain in that a player searching for a group will require 4 players for the group to form - one tank, one healer, and two DPS - and be within 5 levels (or 5 Veteran Ranks if applicable) of each other.

So just out of curiosity, does this also apply for Vet City of Ash or for the future, the most recent group content? If so, does that mean newer level content will be designed with a 5 level buffer concept?

Which thing are you referring to, @Garbrac? The fix or the design of the tool itself?

Mostly the design. You made mention of how the tool works, and it will group you with someone that is within 5 levels or VR of yourself.

New content is typically designed for max level players, for example Vet City of Ash is more for VR 14 players. I just wanted to clarify that, if queued for that, I will be grouped with VR14 players and not a VR9 player.

This design is why I will never get a group for Craglorn at VR1. It makes sense to limit the range in the 1-50 zones (although I think 5 is too short - maybe 8 would be better), but since everyone is Level 50 at Veteran, whether they are VR1 or VR14, there should not be a five-rank limit on Veteran groups.

Alternatively, since every Group Finder section displays the level on it, allow it to group anyone in that level range, and then go 5 either side for anyone who wants to group outside of that range. So Craglorn would find groups of VR1-VR14, Tier 1 Vet Dungeons would find groups of VR1-VR5 (or VR6-VR10 for Tier 2) as standard, but it would find groups of VR9-VR14 if a VR14 used the tool.

Now that I think about, it's all moot anyways.

Once the Champion System comes out, this whole level thing we're talking about is going to be non-existent. So I guess I can live with the whole "within 5" rule and wait for the champion system to comes out.

After this fix goes in, we need something in game to incentive people to use the LFG tool. The game thus far has done an excellent job of training people to not use it, so we need to undo that problem.

When the tool finally starts working, I think word will spread quickly. Probably no need to reward players for using it.

Yah always good to give people a little thing fore using it. Give people a small exp reward or an small items, fun token, gold or better drop rate or something for forming a groupe this way and not by spamming the chat.

But nothing big. so guilds still find together. or maybe make its a first time reward only just to make people do it and show them it works :)

I was in a group for normal SC yesterday on a lvl 13 alt. It was just me and the healer. I was party leader. We were discussing what we needed when all of a sudden this dude appeared in our group. I hadn't begun a search yet, nor had I invited anyone.

I asked him how he got into the group and he said the other person invited him. She said she didn't, and she couldn't have because I was the leader of the group anyways. The guy mistook my curiosity about the strange circumstances as a slight and left the group. I tried to explain to him why I was asking so many questions, but I digress.

So then I have her group lead so she could invite her BF. After he joined, then another DPS joined. So now we had 3 dps and a healer. I figured well maybe she is just new and doesn't understand the the search tool worked. I figured whatever, no biggie. I'll run with them anyways. So then I opened the party window to see if the LFG was bugging, or if she had set the search to dps only.

I got the error message that only the group leader to view that window. I was expecting that of course, but to my surprise I noticed that it was still actively searching for a group (the little loading circle and a message saying searching for group) even though we had a full group already.

I wasn't going to submit a ticket or post here until I had a chance to try it all for myself as group leader, but I had to work lastnight and your question compelled me to relate this experience.

It's ... better, but not by much. My tank got into a group pretty quickly yesterday, but we were stuck trying to find another DPS forever. I eventually quit and went on to my alt who is also a tank that needs to do Arx. Same problem, used grouping tools and just sat there for hours "searching for group".

I really think the automated grouping tool should be scrapped in favor of a player driven system. Let us access a menu where we can set up our own groups. Allow players to search open groups sorted by level, activity, and roles needed. If they see a group doing something they want to join, let them click a 'join' button. The group leader will see that they have a pending group member and can either approve or decline. Simple. If there isn't a group doing what you want to do, you can start one.
