How about consistency in server downtimes

@ZOS_MichelleA Can we please get some official response on this? Has the schedule changed? This is the second week in a row the server has come down two hours before the scheduled time...

It is 2014... How about no server down times? Having downtime makes no sense with the current capabilities of technology and data center infrastructures.

K you go make a game if it's so easy

I'm an Oceanic time zone player and I lose TWO nights to maintenance each week during my prime time. That in itself sucks. But when the maintenance is just whenever, that makes it worse. How hard is it to give a little notice?

I hope that at least we get some kind of patch that fixes the brokens, like my Welcome to Cyrodiil quest which blocks progress. I am not able to pick up daily quests. It has been a known issues for weeks.

This. I rush home from work on Mondays and Thursdays normally to arrive home with 1 hour left to play until the servers come down.

Today I rushed home to get my one hour in and wham. The damn things were brought down early and were already down when I got home.

How do you know when they first came out they didn't?

Wow had maintenance EVERY WEEK that lasted four several hours every Tuesday. They did this up til I stopped playing right before Mists came out and after that I couldn't speak for it. The majority of the time it was NOT for any patches. It was just maintenance. Wow also went down just sporadically.

Eve Online goes off for about an hour every morning (EST time) which I kinda liked as it was just a bit at a time instead of a big chunk. Rift when it first came out was having downtime frequently to fix issues (almost daily for a while.) Lets not even mention other online games having server issues and downtime.

So this is not particularly unusual as you seem to imply.

If I remember, it was in late BC or early Wrath when WoW began skipping their 6 hour long weekly maintenace and did 15 minute server restarts instead. After that, they often didn't even bring down the servers during some weeks.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but the fact is that Australia has a population of around 23 million. The US has a population of around 313 million.

    *sigh* here again.

/whineynasalamericanvoice "Oh we have more players than you so you weirdo's who walk upside down on the planet can go jump into space" /end whineynasalamericanvoice

I just want to reiterate that if we didn't like the game we wouldn't be on here protesting about losing an entire evening of playing the game because crapthesda/wakomax can't get the fundamentals of temporal punctuality correct.

If the time has changed to 6am EST on a Monday at least be honest and tell us.

    Lame.

That started to happen in Wrath, but it was not frequent until the Kung Fu Panda expansion.

Fanboys relax. You don't have to defend everything these clowns do. Regular maintenance means.. regular. If it's regularly going to be irregular then just say so and do it whenever you want and force even more people out of the game but at least we'll know.

No it's not the end of the world but in OC timezones Mon & Thurs play until 10pm was not ideal but we knew it was how it set up and just lived with it. But now we find that they just do whatever they feel like and flip us the big bird. How many times does someone sit down for a 2-3 hour session on their favourite game only to find that the vendor has said "screw you - you're not important" before they wander off? It's just dumb business. Smaller percentage, sure, but they're still big raw numbers. You might as well alienate the entire state of Florida or something.

FTR: I wasn't planning on playing this evening. I'm just noticing the disgust from fellow Aussies I know and in other forums who are sick of this company that just cannot get anything right (double charging, erroneous bans, game-stopping bugs, maintenance mess, unplayable pvp lag). Every stupid they thing they do is another straw for some people and another person that I don't get to play with.

The thing that really gets me is that there is a simple enough solution to the our country is bigger than your country debate otherwise known as the "we deserve to play and you don't so there" argument.

    Proposed "new" patch times for the NA server starting immediately;

    North American Megaserver
Mondays at 8:00am EDT (12pm GMT)
Thursdays at 8:00pm EDT (12am GMT)

This solution sees the oceanic get slammed one night a week and the naysayers in the US get slammed the other; If it's good enough for us to lose a night then it's good enough for the rest of the playerbase too.

    Let the whining begin anew...

Based on your comments, I am guessing you have a regular job?

What would happen if your company/boss suddenly told you that one day a week you had to work 6pm - 2am, but also had to be back to work the following day at 8am for your normal shift time?

In this amazing day and age many companies now incorporate flexible work hours. This allows employees to start work early to finish early or even /gasp start later to finish later. It does not take an entire office building to hit the [upload] button on a maintenance routine. Nor does it take a team of workers to press the reset button on the server rack.

I work 12 hour shifts (most days I am at work for 14) and I am on call in the other 12 hours. I work 5 days a week and am on call 365 days a year. I am called out on a more often than not schedule. This means my average working hours per week is greater than 72.

Well, possibly! Or one of those foam sucker-dart thingies would get in someone's eye and extend downtime.

To the aussies: You have ready access to Violet Crumble, if not a completely fair trade off, it is certainly a leg up from us heathens over here in the US. :)

Or they can just stick with the normal times and affect the least amount of players. I know it's a revolutionary idea and way put there, it's not like mmo companies haven't done it that way for years.
