Think of VR zones as a shredder, or a cliff, or a roach motel. People hit 'em, and aren't seen again. The newbie zones are busy as new users start, or those who dipped their feet into VR decide to just re-roll. But we're seeing the loss of the hard core players that sped through. We will see a constant depletion as players level and march into the sea that is VR play.

Just hope the new players, and re-rollers, match the upper-level exodus until they get a real end game solution.

I think it's pretty common for there to be a significant drop after launch. A lot of MMO players will try every MMO and eventually go back to their favorite. Also, there's a lot of hype at launch and some people have low attention spans (was that a squirrel?) and get bored. Add in the frustration that comes with every launch - bugs, unbalance, etc. I'm sure some folks ragequit.

I think it's too early to determine ESO's fate.

I think I, like many others, just decided to take a break. It is a easy game to burn yourself out on. Me and a few friends last night came up to the same decision, we are going to take a month or two break from the game. Not because of game crashing bugs (as there are so few of those compared to what others have brought up), but that the story just got old. I've played through the story 6 times now. I've got 2 medium vet level characters, and 4 other characters I either experiment on, or use as a dedicated grouping character I have with my friends. That last one annoys me because I'm not allowed to play him unless they are all on.

I'll wait till the next major update maybe and see what happens from there. Currently my friends got me into SWGEMU, and I hate them for that. Because of that game bringing me back to my old Star Wars Galaxies days, I find it harder and harder to even load up ESO.

Welp, suspending my account for a bit, see you all later!

50 of us from a 10 year old gaming community started ESO together, all but 8 of us have quit, and those 8 are suffering daily lag, 301 errors, random disconnects etc and getting less happy every day. Draw whatever conclusions you want from that.

Of the 4 guilds I joined at launch, only one of them actually died. And it's being reborn under a new name so I'm not sure that really counts.

I'll wait until ESO's first anniversary to see what sort of game and population we end up with.

I remember when GW2 first added in that whole fractals thing with the Ascended armor. So many angry people left that game in droves claiming the Developers lied to them. Population tanked for a bit and then rebounded. Game seems to be doing fine despite all the doom and gloom predictions going at one time. I personally don't play it anymore, but a lot of people do seem to enjoy it.

VR is easy to fix, just fix the accidental mob buff and wait for the players to come on thru as they were before that happened.

Also some were scared to quest while the achievement bug was waiting for a fix, they are creeping back too.

Yes, chicken little. The sky is falling, better buy an aluminum lined helmet to protect yourself and keep out radio signals.

Can't say I have noticed. Seems to me there are more people now than day one, and there are always cues outside dungeons now, so you never have a problem joining a group.

Can't say anything about guilds as I don't usually bother with them unless they give you something worth-while, and I don't class a swap shop, as being worth-while.

I would say ESO is alive, kicking and breeding. ;)

From what I found the game is active in "alt land" and dead in vet zones. Vet grind is a real pain and there is nothing to do once you hit V12 anyway. Most people seem to be leveling alts.

I don't know if there's any way to check the population of subscriptions in ESO but every guild I speak to is either losing members or dying, when I go to vet zones they are completely empty, and Cyrodiil population seems to have dropped a lot too?

    :/

God i love the doomsayers look like that are even in ESO if we listen to all doomsayer in all mmo the it would not be any mmo at all. Beside have you hear of something call summer time and school holiday which is about 10 weeks here in sweden and have hear of something call vacation which most people get when the work which here in sweden is between 4 to 6 week that mean basically that all population in all mmo well drop down big time. That don't mean that a game is dying.

For me, I really what to play level 18 main char, I need to get my based cover 1st via working on a MAJOR crafting alt (level 43). Once all the research is done, have enough skill points, etc etc... I willing be able to play my main char again.

Just like building a house, the foundation takes the longest to build before the rest of the house (aka other chars) can used it.

Well I think some players are having a break because they want to see something else than Tamriel ^^
Last days I played more BF than ESO for example.

From my perspective, yes, I think this game has been dying the past couple of weeks. Glenumbra & Wayrest are often barren during prime EST evenings. VR 5-8 content reminds me of playing in WoW expansions from years ago. I will see a handful of VR12s running around, and hardly anyone in the level range for the zone.

I guess the only ones having fun in VR are those who grinded craglorn to vr12 and now they are going back through the regular quest.

    The normal zones are populated.

The veteran zones have little to no one in them.

If you want to know why the vet zones suffer from less population, there are many threads and posts about the issues with veteran content.

So much for my evil plans.

I had planned to level slowly so that everyone would outlevel me and be off playing in the veteran levels by now. That way I'd have the lower levels all to myself (which tend to be what happens in most MMOs). But no, you guys had to make alts and crowd out my low level zones, didn't ya?

My character is level 20 and I remain hopeful that many of the issues regarding Veteran zones will be addressed before I get there. It's one of the perks of slow leveling. Sure you aren't the first to get to the end, but usually by the time you get there most of the bugs and glitches are fixed.

This would be very logical but for one minor point.

A lot of the vet level problems (trash having more health and damage than bosses) were only recently introduced during the craglorn patch :)
