Error 200 is can't reach the megaserver. Could be some IP between you and the server is barfing.

    From the support page:

Error 200 occurs when a player is unable to reach one of the game's megaservers. Players who receive this error should try again in a few minutes. Players who still receive this message after waiting can attempt the following steps:

Make sure that any anti-virus/firewall protection has exception rules for The Elder Scrolls Online.
Make sure the following ports are open on the networking device. Instructions can be found here.
    TCP / UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    TCP / UDP Ports 24500 through 24507
    TCP / UDP Ports 49100 through 54000

well the error 200 happened just once (the first time). Since then it was just stuck on "retrieving character info" and DC (unknown error) or loading screen and then DC (unknown error)

If you want help from ESO Support you might as well include which megaserver you are trying to connect to.

I thought it was obvious from the speedtest pic. Guess not. I'm trying to reach EU server. Over an hour has passed already and still the same problem.

Just because you have a good speed doesn't mean your connection to the server is good.

Doesn't speedtest.net allow you to pick the server you do the test with? It would be interesting to try picking Austin tx and your test server and see the difference in stats. Hmm. Going to have to try this

Ayup. Cut my up and down on my cell phone in half. And my ping quadrupled. But no bad hops so overall still a great connection. Now if the op was to do the same when the problem is happening......

Clicked Austin... but transatlantic connection sucks - that's why we direly need that center in Germany (or wherever it's supposed to be)

My speed to Austin is 271Mbps/674Mbps. If I go in state it is 783Mbps/700Mbps. :) To Austin is a bit slow for me. Level 3 seems to be having some issues in the hops so maybe that is what the OP is running into.

Is the problem still happening? I would have expected it to be worse with the 201 and unable to connects.

It's going to Frankfurt I believe. And they finally gave a date estimate of this summer.

That is what I was thinking too bit can't confirm since I'm on a smart phone and coming from California so it's not likely that I'm taking the same route unless the problem is very close to the data center and it usually isn't. If it was we'd all be having issues

SO why are people trying to connect to austin? The server isnt here. It's like up in main, and i'm pretty sure you guys are wanting to test your connection to the ESO server, not the city it is in.

It was jsut a quick test. And since he was already familiar with speedtest I was curious what speedtest would show by moving the home server from .cz to texas. Its its a routing issue the test is still valid. Unless there is a bad hop and its very close to eso datacenter. Getting someone to traceroute is often more difficult so I wanted to see what could be seen from speedtest. Wow, arent I the defensive one......hmm..

When you came in I felt like a kid whose dad just came in and said "what the heck is going on in here?" Funny considering I'm umm....really old. That is what I meant by defensive

Nope. That was just my reaction. And in retrospect was unwarranted.

Today, the same thing was happening from 11 AM to about 3 PM again.

I'm starting to suspect some bad hop between europe and US, because even these forums and esohead are getting LOOOOONG delays and weird behavior (aka click on link/search for something, page starts loading, stops and freezes mid-way. Have to click refresh. Freezes again -> Refresh and so on till I get some result).

I can reach most other sites without problems. Dunno what to think about it.
