I appreciate you posting the thread OP!. In spite of my frustrations with the game, the information you guys provide is informative and interesting. Many times you confirmed my issues with the game, and a few times I was refreshingly educated!

I hope that ZoS takes your advice and information into account along with the experiences of many others in balancing this game. It seems that the experiences of those pushing the edge are no less different then those who are casual players or niche players.

Oki, I got a question for you guys, im in the 11m, 29sec Daggerfall group which are right behind you guys. We didn't skip any bosses or skipped any mobs except for the flame atronachs. With my calculations on what we could have done, I can shave off 1 minute and 30 seconds (or so) off our time. Let me explain how we could have done it faster:

First you skip the flame atronachs, you kill the frost ones (i haven't figured out the trick to stop them from spawning yet), you skip the next trash, you skipped (not possible anymore) the Lightning atronach, you kill the next trash and then skip the trash before the second boss by jumping over. Then you went ahead and killed the second boss with negate magic and ignoring adds completely (thats how we do it at least). You went to the next trash and killed only the essential mobs fast..
The Third boss you do by stopping the adds from going to their positions so that they are stuck on the boss and just AoE them down in a few seconds. Then you go ahead with the fourth boss as usual.

Where did i get it wrong and what have i missed? : P Because our DPS was good enough to down the first boss right after his Pulse attack (I think it was 15 seconds, tops) and got to the burn stage of the mage by the time the first add popped up.. And I have no clue how you guys are so much faster.

Not to take anything away from Alacrity, but the game mechanics make the emperor title less impressive than you might think. I have guested in campaigns where the DC and AD sides were essentially trading the inner ring back and forth so each side could get the title in turn. Trouble is, in my opinion, the list of accomplishments is pretty much meaningless.

I don't know the OP or their guild.

Reading between the lines, I tend to agree with Mablung.

For example, many people who were former emperors and many people near the top of the leaderboard, did so by such things as exploiting the vamps before the devs did the right thing and stopped it (the only time I and my guild hated PvP was when almost every other player was a vamp before they nerfed it).

Only last week guildmates were commenting about how certain players at the top of the leaderboard are never seen in PvP since the vamp nerf, now that they actually have to try and fight.

I suspect its got a lot to do with exploiters being so far ahead as to why Zenimax are ditching the 90 day campaign.

I don't know how the OPs guild achieved what they are saying, for all I know, every former emperor could have been a vamp before the nerf.

What I do know is I would have a lot more respect for him and his skills if he hadn't said they benched everyone using dual wielding, bow, and 2hander.

Because by saying that, I get the impression when the vamps were overpowered, the guild insisted everyone played a vamp.

Or to put it another way, I get the impression they find the quickest shortcut, if they find an exploit inform their whole guild how it works so they can all take advantage of it, then try to use their quick times and Aliance ranks as some sort of valid credentials.

Being told what to play, what to equip etc is exactly what this game was supposed to be getting away from.

I would have far far far more respect for the OP if his guild achieved what he says while allowing his members to use the builds they like.

All his guild appears to be doing is working out the most unbalanced classes (and exploits or things obviously not working as intended), and rather than simply pointing it out to Zenimax and letting his guild carry on playing how they wish, he seems to be saying his entire guild changes their playstyle to totally take advantage of this, and its guilds like his that put people off PvP as any normal guild with people playing using individual builds. stand no chance.

And I presume his answers to questions are all going to be to advise all other players to change to the overpowered builds his guild had worked out, meaning even less enjoyment for those players playing the classes and builds they enjoy.

I have far more admiration for a guild member that has risen to the top 100 rank of their class, with them equipping what skills they want, than I do for the people at the very top who either never slept for a month or took advantage of things not working as intended.

My mains a vet 3 Sorc, I knew about the bolt escape not working as intended, I didn't even bother using one of my spare skill points on getting the skill, I doubt I will ever get to emperor or to the top 100 of my class, but if I do, if I did it taking advantage of something obviously not working as intended, then I would get zero pleasure out of my achievement.
