Game kills my connection speed

Hello,

I've recently reinstalled my OS but there also have been patches so I'm not sure what has caused this.

Problem: Game works I have the usual 150ms latency because the servers are in the US. But when the game is open my connection drops from 11M to 3M and trying to listen to youtube videos or have any kind of download running makes me lag tremendously. What is bizarre is how the game is consuming tiny amounts of bandwidth, like 200B/s, but having it open lowers my connection speed 8M.

I don't know if this is due to this game specifically but I'm running out of ideas as I've checked with numerous software that I didn't have malware/viruses, tried TCP optimizer, port forwarding, firewall exceptions, triple check router config which hasn't changed anyway...

Hoping to get useful input (not "reboot ur pc"),

well, it could be your pc is unable to handle processing both streams well. I.e. it could be processor and ram and not jsut your bandwidth.

Processor usage is 25% and memory is half empty. I don't think they should be of any issue, I have a 4th gen i5 8gigs of ram. If that wasn't enough well there would be alot of issues for many people.

I know this may sound a bit ridiculous at first, but hear me out.

If you have Google Chrome installed, force it to check for updates by doing the following:

Open a new Google Chrome tab
Go to the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button (far right side of the address bar)
    Select "About Google Chrome"
An automatic update check should occur. This may take a bit of time, so be patient and let Chrome "do it's business".
Restart your machine, then recheck your connection speed in the same manner as you did above.

Like I said, the above may sound ridiculous, or irrelevant ... but for some reason, my ESO connection issues were solved by doing exactly this.

I have no specific idea why this worked for me, since I do not run a browser while playing. There should not be any interaction between ESO and Chrome, except for *maybe* the news feed on the launcher.

Now, I've been working on computers since '93, and this still has me scratching my head ... the good news though, I am up and running again, and hopefully, this helps to get you there as well. Let me know if it works for you as well.

    I don't have chrome installed :/

Thanks for trying and I understand why that'd have you scratching your head.

In light of what you said I tried to uninstall IE and reinstall mozilla. No effect.
