unfortunately what he says is correct,
I find it bs that such small quest decisions limit you into getting achievements. Nobody would ever abandon the island without finding all the missing people if they knew they would be missing out on a achievement.

Actually for me its just a videogame. I have a life with different achievements.
Anyway i remember in the early acces i was playing with some friends (all gone now) and they were a bit ahead and asked me to join them to stonefalls and i did thinking that i could come back and finish this quest another day. How could i have known this??
