Racism in zone chats.

Before anyone starts in the chat filter does not cover this. This is getting out of control and needs to be taken care of. People spamming racial attacks/slurs and attacking people of faith. Most are repeat offenders, people complain myself and others have taken screenshots and sent in reports but nothing seems to happen. Really how hard is it to investigate? seems like a no brainer to me.

Learn to leave faith out of conversation in an online video game, where people of all sorts of beliefs will exist, and you won't have this problem. If you bring up faith in a conversation and then you can't handle peoples responses, learn to leave it out.

The only reason they would attack your choices was if you posted your personal life. Learn to think before you speak, and maybe you can come up with a valid point.

They do take care of this particular issue. 2 people I reported with screen shots for using some very nasty slurs and saying extremely racist remarks after being asked stop in zone were booted within the week. Haven't seen them since. They were perma banned. The reports on several other anti-religious hate speech people didn't get acted on as quickly but they are gone now too.

Where exactly did the OP state that it's a simple matter of disagreeing viewpoints? Debating faith is one thing... whatever. Being insulting with vulgar and hate fueled comments is quite another. I've seen some pretty bad behavior in zone chat numerous times myself. My rule of thumb is simple... if a statement is so hate filled that it makes my eyes bulge or gasp out loud, then a /report is incoming. Sadly, it happens more often than I'd care to see.

@Dusty5 unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world and never will, racism, preconception, will be everywhere, mainly in internet that you can hide behind your screen.

Well, like many people said here, better keep your faith with you, your real life with closest people that know what you believe and support you for real.

That's the true, and unfortunately we need to learn how to survive in the jungle.

And I'd bet dollars to donuts they screamed bloody murder on forums afterwards claiming... "There I was, minding my own business not doing anything worng, and outa nowhere BAM! I got banned for no reason."

As others have mentioned, people attacking your faith is a totally separate problem from racial slurs. Everyone agrees that racial slurs should get people banned.

Your faith is a personal choice and belief system that you embrace. If you choose to bring it up in chat, you don't get to complain when it's attacked.

@HelpingHand‌ There's an 'and' between those two. And from reading the OP, it sounds more like they are talking about the general awfulness in zone chat, not about any personal attacks. But you jumped to right to that conclusion for some reason.

To OP, click report and click add to ignore. That's really all you can do if you want to keep zone chat up.

If the OP learned to keep his mouth shut in a MMO where people will always find something to disagree about, or talk trash to about, then the OP wouldn't have this problem to begin with. If the OP goes fishing, they are gonna catch more than they bargained for. This happens all the time as well. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. I promise you, someone said something that he didn't agree with, and he opened his mouth about, well you are wrong because blah blah blah. The OP brought it on themselves. That is how it ALWAYS happens. When they can't handle it, they always resort to crying to mama.

Just report and ignore. Welcome to the internet, it's a pretty vile place, where people assume there are no consequences for their actions or statements. I have a very long ignore list. At least you can ignore their whole account :D

    Oh I dunno about that.

If somebody says something along the lines of "All @#$%!! <insert religious faction here> are the @#^$ing bane of the earth and all deserve to hang any their @#$#! for their %@#$!ing evil ways! <insert more explicit vulgarities here in any random order>"

Then yeah... I do believe they are allowed to complain.

Yes, for the profanity. But since most religious debates between people of faith pretty much come down to "[X] is going to burn for all eternity for their beliefs," the rest is to be expected when you bring up faith in a computer game.

The only way someone could attack "his choices" is if they knew about his choices in the first place ...

Personally, I prefer that people speak their mind so that a racist idiot isn't hiding their true nature out of fear of what they perceive to be the "pc elite".

That way I can ignore them immediately.

Why in the world would anyone reveal their race or religion in the zone chat? It's asking for trouble.

But yes, racial slurs are unacceptable. I hope ZOS addresses this problem. Still, it's the internet, you can expect to be insulted at any given moment. Report, put on ignore and move on.

Not really. I see it quite often in ESO (and many other MMOs). There's a plethora of disruptive players who spew some pretty rotten words just for the sake of doing it. They're not waiting for somebody to say "Hey! I'm a <insert relgioun here> faithful" before they run at the mouth. More often than not, it's somebody raging because something in game stoked their anger (missed out on chest loot, died repeatedly from a boss, had a bad dungeon run, bugged quest, etc..) and say something stupid in zone chat like "This @ game is %@#$ me off! Just like those @%$@!ing <insert religious faith, race, sexual orientation>"

Happens all the time. And nobody went fishing for those opinions.

@nerevarine1138‌ If someone does that, report them all the same. Any one who responses and gets into an argument is just as wrong. There's a reason discussions of real world religion and politics is not allowed in game.

Again everyone, click report and click ignore. You don't need to do anything else.

You missed the point entirely where the OP said someone was attacking 'his' beliefs. The only way people know 'his' beliefs is if he stated them. Just stop before you hurt yourself. We aren't defending discrimination. We are offering a solution to the problem. Don't tell people you don't know your personal beliefs, and you don't have the OPs problem. #facts.
