KILL THE BOTS UNDER THE MAP

I have spent the past few hours attempting to locate Rune nodes in Deshaan. Twice I have the seen the rune disappear as I was about to collect with no other player in site. Yes, it's an MMO. Yes, this is an unfortunate part of the game. My problem is their inability to protect the area beneath the map. Sucks not being able to collect runes except occasionally. Doesn't matter how many times I chase down a node lap. There just aren't any runes present. And it isn't because runes are rare either.

I have been using the AddOn HarvestMap. There are rune nodes in Deshaan. They are just collected soon after they appear by the mysterious demons below.

I always thought it was players in other instance getting the node before me, but I have no idea how it all works..

I believe that to be phasing issues. It happens to me in VR10 zones, and I am pretty sure there aren't bots there.

That makes no sense to me. If that were the case, no resources would exist at all -- period.

EDIT: If it is a phasing issue, what do I do to force the situation so I can collect resources? I waste more time chasing down the fairy-resource mother than anything.

Yes, the botting program they are using makes the player virtually teleport to the location and steal it out of site. They can teleport virtually to any node on the map. Then the bad part is they move so fast that you can't do that report thing unless you screen shot it by luck. This is where a GM is definitely needed for the problem. I hope they help you out soon.

Do a search here, the bots moved underground in droves a few weeks ago to escape GM detection.

If you wait next to a resource node, you can occasionally see their heads pop out of the ground for a second while they harvest the node.

Out of sight, out of mind, i guess ...

I'd be curious to know if that HarvestMap addon itself helps facilitate this type of bot activity.

mind you if they limit it to "can only loot 5 resources every 1minute" they could cut it down a small bit, it's not a real fix but it gives people a small fighting chance and they'll bug out trying to loot something they cant so they are easier to target report

If this is true, then they deserve to get the nodes. LOL, how the hell do you get underground? That's kind of funny and slightly awesome. I never knew there was underground tunnels in Tamriel. Are they diggin them out like the drug guys in Mexico and San Diego?

    All of them? Really?

So Blizzard eliminated bots from WoW entirely? Permanently? That's fantastic news! I assume that there hasn't been a complaint thread about bots on the WoW CS forums in ever....

I suggest you do some serious research on the subject. Bots are a pervasive issue in MMOs, and developers can only react to plug the holes in their code that bot-programmers find. It's a neverending process, and unless some developer found the magic technique that made dishonest and lazy players stop cheating, that isn't changing anytime soon.

remember those bots who use corpses in WoW to spell out a site name by teleporting into the sky and dying at the right angle? something like that.

Solution, cross breed salughterfish and moles. Slaughtermoles 1 foot beneath the surface should take care of these underground bots fairly well. And the chomping sound heard by all those around will provide some entertainment as well.

The solution to flying bots is also obviously slaughterbirds.

Solution = / = bots eliminated. Solution = software mechanism in place to automatically deal with them. At the moment ESO relies on player tickets and probably analyzing log files to find bots, which are manually processes. Definition and heuristic anti-cheat software is extremely effective, and yes it is a never ending process.

Every company relies on player tickets and analyzing log files to find new bots. Anti-cheat software (which ZO has clearly already applies in multiple hotfixes, for those of us paying attention) simply stops the bots/hacks that the developer is already aware of. It doesn't detect new bots.

Doesn't HarvestMap just show where someone else has harvested a node not where a node is?

In other words the map is a collection of possible nodes not where a node actually has spawned.

Then you have lag. I've gone to harvest a node, hit E and couldn't harvest it. About the time I hit E another player pops as he's standing from harvesting the node. I've been accused of being a bot a few times when I was the one at the node first that was invisible to the other player.

If you don't import their database it just collects the nodes you find. I like finding them myself but prefer to have them marked. Of course the nodes are not necessarily there all the time.

They need to monitor the bank. Bots take less than a second to do their banking and then zip away again. I imagine they drop their goods into a guild bank rather than send mail to a specific account that can be tracked.

Just monitor accounts that consistently take less than 5 seconds to do banking.

just how hard is it to test whether a player has TC flag set - and have encrypted- hidden check system for it (redundancy to avoid spoofing it)

if TC flag is unchecked ... then you can fly- pass thru walls. hover underground without falling thru the enviroment ( and looping back to sky and fall to earth)

seems to me if you can get XYZ position from a player you can get TC flag and do a check

There are addons that allow you to setup what your character auto deposits/withdraws from the bank. All of my storage toons take less than 5 seconds to withdraw the items my played toons deposit. Same goes for when my played toons deposit, usually less than 5 seconds, because I have it set up to auto-deposit certain things.

You are offering a solution that will most likely end in another blanket banning that hits legitimate players if implemented.

Yep Banker is a great addon, makes banking fast. It is getting old fast how these bots ruin the game for the rest of us. I haven't seen anything like this (not saying there isn't) in any other MMO game I have played on this scale other than Ultima Online when it first came out.

This issue has been going on a lot longer than the bots going underground. Was happening to me on Bleakrock back in April. My assumption has always been there is only one node that all the phases have access to.

It really sucks for collecting aspect runes. I wouldn't wish enchant grinding on my worst enemy.
