Am I the only one sick of destro/resto use for all classes?

    Primary weapon: Healing staff.
    Secondary weapon: Destruction staff.

And is that light armor I see? Yes, I think it is ...

He's actually using a resto staff for both of his sets but apparently resto staff does much the same damage as destro anyway so its probably a bit meh either way.

Amazingly ZOS seem to be recommending that more people go and try this build...

This is basically my first MMO since way long ago when I played FF11. I decided to just wing it as I went. And as it turns out I ended up with a DK that uses destruction staff and/or restoration staff. I don't though as it turns out use all the skills that really kick ass. You think you get pressure to change your build when you are using a different weapons you should hear the comments you get when you have the "right" weapons but use the "wrong" skills for it.

I started out using the destruction staff, and then for a while switched to duel wield for a while. After doing a couple of dungeons I decided to try and become a healer and gave up my two daggers. So I ended up destruction/restoration mostly by accident or whim. I was thinking of switching to my other character as my main to get away from what seems to be the cookie cutter build, but decided that would defeat my original idea to not have others dictate my build.

Sometimes in a group dungeon (I'm not VR yet as I play slow) I will switch to the "right" skills because the group needs them for any of us to survive, but for the most part I like the "wrong" ones I use better because they are more fun.

Does mean I run from a lot of mobs I should be able to thump, but that too is part of my guy. He isn't the bravest soul out there and will sneak around a fight when he can.

I know four guys in VR 10-12 right now who do not do Resto/Cloth. One is a NB in medium, using DW and Bow. Another is a DK in heavy, using 2H. I do not hear moaning and groaning from these guys, but - these are Age of Conan veterans. They know how to play MMOs, and find strategies that work under very challenging situations.

There are alternatives to Resto/Cloth, they just aren't *easy*. Consider that a personal choice in how you want to play your character is *hard mode*, and play the game accordingly. The bigger the risk, the greater the rewards.

I play a Naked Nord DK with only 3 pieces of armor (Helmet with horns for the cool looks, gauntlets and sandals).
My main attack is dual wield axes and my 2nd slot is a resto staff to keep me alive.

Judging from all the chatter here on the forums, you'd think my build would be hilariously underpowered and weak and nobody in their right mind would want to play that way.

However, in my experience it's exactly the opposite. It's loads of fun to play, surprisingly easy for all but the most powerful mobs (and even those just require some tweaking of how i fight them).

I rarely die and if i do it's usually because i screwed up.

I simply refuse to let other people talk the fun out of my gameplay because they think they know what is best for me ...

Light armour\Resto\Destro builds are just the current FOTM.

In the end Skill > Gear.

They need to nerf the *** out of staff and light armor.

Forgot the armor part. Right now I know I have at least one of each type of armor, but not sure exact numbers of each. I know I have three heavy because it was the first set I actually managed to find three of, but I'm about to dump if for something else because I'm finding better stuff now I think.

Playing my Templar through the high vr zones I found the resto/destro combo was the most effective way for me to get through most of the content solo. High spell crit, high dps, high magic regen and good cc. I haven't been able to come up with another solution to my Templars magica regen problems thats sustainable.

I played through all of the early game 1-50 with heavy armor and two hand/resto, dw/resto or sword n board/resto and a few combos in between. I just found that I couldn't survive with any other build as well as I did with destro/resto and I'm sure there are plenty of players in the same boat.

Yes they have ruined the game bablance. The clueless devs nerf everything but their favorite child, staffs and light armor

They don't need to nerf staff and light armor so much as they need to buff medium/heavy armor and weaponskills.

Healing staff heavy attack restores magicka. Why wouldn't you carry one?

Don't forget that you also get 10% extra damage with a healing staff.
It sure is balanced. Why the hell does a healing staff have a damage boost?

Because it was designed for healers to do something besides watch HP bars.

The problem is that the resto staff works too well for offensive builds/

Solution: Tie the 10% damage passive to 3% per restoration ability slotted. You'll no longer get benefit with class offensive skills, nut you can slot 3 resto skills and 2 class and still get some similar benefit, whereas offensive builds can no longer just load all non-resto attacks on a resto staff.

Than they simply failed, as a healer i don't care at all about this 10% dmg passive. In fact i would not even put points into it, but i also play DPS so yeah i have it. The passive does absolutely nothing for u as healer and no most healers do not normally DPS in veteran dungeons or trials. We already have our hands full just healing and we also do not have enough slots to even slot a DPS ability.

This is simply a very bad and stupid design decision.

I wouldn't know resto/destro was the only viable build if not for the fine people on these forums to let me know.

Since everyone has a resto staff, where are all the damn healers for the dungeon finder???? Everyone is doing it....just not when I'm online huh!!!

Personally i would like a talent in the medium armor skill line that converts " the fuel"needed to dodge and block from your magicka bar when wearing 5 medium pieces of armor, the game would then operate the same way for stam builds and magikca builds.

Let us fix that so it is right.
