I dont really "prefer" , i only play in third person.
I usually only play the single player TES in first person , but ESO fights are completely different and are clearly desgined around the MMO concept , which makes sense ofc , still it makes me play it like a MMO , which is third person.

Makes it more difficult not knowing what the *&@# is going on for the other 270 degrees around my character, but seeing is overrated. Isn't it? Maybe that's not right...
I prefer first person for better immersion but I feel the combat kinda forces me to play in 3rd. So hard to see area effects and the like in first person.
I prefer to play in 1st person. I think the game Looks better as a whole and I love the perspective. However, due to the need for more awareness around my character I find myself needing to switch out of 3rd person more often. However, I really wish that there was a 1st person availability when mounted.

Really? I feel like combat forces me into first person, which is why I keep the camera so close to my avatar. Fighting with the camera zoomed too far always makes me hit the wrong target!
My biggest problem with 1st person view is that its not realistic so it is very handicapping. No peripheral vision, no ability to turn your eyes and head easily from side to side automatically as everyone does. Right now 3rd person is the only way to get a good consistent sense of what is going on around your character.
On Skyrim I play First Person strictly for Archery aiming, other than that its always Third Person, this game First Person is really awkward and just a faster way to die.
I think first person would be cool in pvp if everyone was forced in to it. Would allow for more tactics and flanking etc. Right now if someone flanks you you can see him right there on your screen with the other guy in front of you.
Would also allow for sneak attacks because even though they are in range you still won't be able to see them if they are behind you.
First person, by far. First person makes me feel like I am adventuring in Tamriel. Third person makes me feel like I am pulling the strings of a marionette that is adventuring in Tamriel. I think 3rd person gives an edge in combat, but I just can't put up with the visual effect.
