Perhaps ZoS should hang the prophecy up in the break room, lest they forget the future generations that are at stake here.

I think this game was flawed from the initial design. I don't think they thought through the consequences of phasing. I don't think they thought through the consequences of so much work being done on the client. If they can get it all to work, then they have something valuable here. The problem then will be to reacquire a player base.

    BOo WoW, Hooray ESO!

And i wouldnt say there are major major major problems. I wouldnt say there is even a major problem with ESO. the problems ESO is having every MMO has. Balancing, bug squashing, getting out new content. This is normal.

Wow should never be a model of mmos.

Well, like it or hate it, WoW was hugely successful, and got a lot of things right (if right means getting a lot of long term subscribers). So, any company in its right mind making an mmo has to consider it a model of mmos.

It just shouldn't be "THE" model of mmos. Now that the market is glutted with mmos copying it, there should be room for an mmo that does things differently.

    ESO's shadow has been seen!

It's yet another copy cat MMO with its foot in the grave!

Thrashing in its death throws while snatching all your hard earned money and laughing at our petulant pleas for class balance and game longevity or relevance.

Only thing that infuriates me is that "Fallout" will likely be collateral damage of this avoidable catastrophe.

What needs fixing for ESO to work:

    1) buff weapon based specs (would probably be enough to give stamina weapon abilities 1.5 scaling instead of 1.9 - that should give stamina abilities about 22% boost in damage), while also reworking heavy armor (because currently even tanks use light or medium because of stupidly low soft caps) to make it competetive

    2) fix the damn grouping that's been bugged since betas! That thing alone (along maybe with inability to reset dungeon when your quest bugs out, having to regroup, facing no-leader bug again and again) makes some ppl go berserk and leave..

    3) fix the "USE" command range. Seriously, while it's nice to have it "realistic" to jump to use half items, in the long run it gets incredibly annoying, and after a few days downright infuriating.. not to mention some thicker doors won't open now, even if you're standing a micron away from them..

Zenimax is not capable of running an MMORPG. The sheer volume of oversights and horrible decisions dating back to beta should be a good enough indicator that there is absolutely no hope for this game. They have made mistakes that every other MMO learned to avoid 10 years ago. You are deceiving yourself if you think that this game has a future anywhere but a wikipedia page for "Biggest MMO Flop".

No, they can't - questgiver bugged

And let me give them advice the same, as support gives to me after bureport what NPC in Vaults of Madness don't gives quest to me (140609-001735):

    Hail and well met, Zenimax!

Thank you for contacting SilverWF, its always a pleasure to hear from our adventurers at forums

I'm really sorry you are having this issue and I understand it can be frustrating not not receiving the credit for the dungeon. This is an issue we are currently investigating, but we would advise for now that you try and complete the other quests in your quest log before returning to try this one as it may help Gasteau to be a little more chatty!

I'd rather have this game be a WoW clone. As it stands, it's completely hamstrung by its own "innovative" features.

    - No trinity leads to unchallenging PvE
    - No cooldowns leads to poor methods of balancing skills (I can't wait until certain spells start costing 1,000 magicka)
    - Dodge/sprint/CC break means anything that uses stamina is bad

These aren't even innovative, they're just part of the terrible suite that the "action MMO" design regurgitates onto the otherwise clean plate that is the MMO genre.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel.

I really want this game to succeed, honestly I do, considering its one of the "Free-est" games since Ultima Online... or should have been, considering what TES was till now.

I can, to a point, understand as well that all class abilities are made as spells instead of skills (as a note, spell = magicka / skill = stamina). There were no abilities in previous TES games that relied on anything else than magicka, no sort of weapon skills.

However, their, shortsightedness I should say, making abilities that relies on the stamina/fatigue bar is one of their major failures, as well as the huge balance issues between armor/weapon types, not even classes.

Their way of -no classes-, their so called idea to not pigeonhole players into the "trinity"... is actually pigeonholing people into a "unity" instead, which is, wearing a dress and wielding a stick, no matter your class, your race, your role, all you need to do is wear a dress, and probably no underpants for the breeze in these summer days, and wield a stick to wave at each other, voila, you are perfect at anything. The so called "DPS checks" they implemented for their new content is actually, propagating this instead of helping people, making anyone else completely obsolete.

Another, and one of the biggest mistakes they could do, and they continue to do, is not saying a word about any of these issues, which makes people think that this is working as intended, and by all means being the opposite of what a TES game should be.

Most of us, and I'm sure at least more than 50%, although its just a guess, which would, even by a margin would be the majority, is here because it was supposed to be a TES game we all came to love in years and spent countless hours. As much as we hate the people who are running this game to the ground, we still want it to succeed because none of us, I'm sure, wants this game to soil TES brand.

I'm most definitely astonished by the hardheadedness of the team, not even saying a word against the major issue that people are having with the balance that is coming due to NOT classes, but purely because of the imbalance between armors/weapons. It is indeed much more simpler than to tweak all classes one by one, but by completely ignoring every single post about the balance outcries that have been going on for weeks, and nothing on the -Road Ahead- posts either, they are very effectively driving players away, which feels like being done almost on purpose for who knows why. Even if you said "Yes we want everyone to wear dresses and wave sticks", it would be a much better situation than it is now.

People who are still playing this game, people who are lurking on the forums, hoping to catch a glimpse of things getting better, we most definitely want this game to succeed, we just do not get why you people are trying to ruin this game. So please, for the love of all that is Holy and Unholy, Sacred and Profane, get your heads out of where they are buried, and look around, make a statement for a change before you completely ruin everything.

Great post. ESO has a good foundation to work with but does need a lot changed/fixed. Something more dynamic or as you said horizontal. Just too many rails and roadblocks. Too many that negatively effect multiplayer interaction, groups & guilds.

I only hope Zos recognizes some of this stuff (and soon) because I get the impression at times they think everything is fine how it is.

    I'll say this;

There have been worse releases. FFXIV had me stoked, and when I discovered my computer couldn't even run it I went and got a better one. Then I found just how bad it really was. People here speak of ghost towns and tumbleweeds, how this feels like a single player game. Well, first release of FFXIV matched that perfectly. I saw a total of three other people, and of course none of them wanted to group. The problems that game had were severe. I watched as the free month got extended for another. Then another. Then another, finally resulting in an indefinite free month. Six months later, they just shut it down and got back to work.

Is ESO in a bad spot? Does it have problems that need fixing? Yeah. Do the problems warrant a hard reset and complete overhaul, as I've seen suggested from time to time? No.
