Zenimax Media through Bethesda released Skyrim numbers on launch day and a week after launch and a few months after launch. I wonder what's different with eso?
Strange, I remember hours and hours of queues for weeks. I remember Deathwing, the server I played on, crashed and didn't come back for 28 hours. Maybe you're memories of day 1 Wow are a bit hazy?

The difference is one has online subscribers and the other is a standalone solo game. Hmm, wonder if that difference matters?

I think the be in 5 guilds is one of the mistakes they have made and no AH being in just one guilds bring people together more I see constant posts of VR'S moaning about content being too hard solo.
wheres your guildmates to help you out ?

They often can't help you anyway because of phasing.
Wow had class balancing issues for more then the first year! I played a warlock which on day 1 and beta was to "OP" and got nerfed all to hell. It was almost a full year before I could 1v1 a damn rogue and not die in a complete unescapable stunlock EVERY TIME...... All the same problems ESO is having are the same problems every mmo has which is my point, and some of those other big problems like infrastructure planning is a MAJOR part of a release and pretty damn important. I can bet if ESO had those sort of problems like wow had, you would all be QQ'ing about it and how badly planned it was, etc etc etc.

Do I need to remind people of WoW's queues to get into the game (some that were in the THOUSANDS just to get it)?

Using your reasoning, Wildstar won't be releasing their sales numbers either.
I think your logic will be shown to be wrongheaded. Very soon.

That was 10 years ago. Back in the MMO Stone Age. Why not remind us of Agincourt while you're at it.
And seriously, ESO sold a lot of games; there isn't any data available to say otherwise. The problem is with declining subscriptions. An MMO needs to be able to sustain a population. Out of the gate sales don't really tell enough of the sustainability story, so your prediction is pretty meaningless.
Crimson Prophet wrote: »Who knows, probably less complainers then there were. More players then people think there are.
If they release sub numbers, probably in the 100k~ range. Which is fine by me. Keep the sub up so it insures the complainers can keep being weeded out.
Crimson Prophet wrote: »Who knows what is profitable? I mean, if you think about it. They had 1 million preorders (rumored). A lot were probably imperial edition. And then the first month of subs was probably a good amount. So who knows their numbers. I do know I would be disappointed if they went F2P. Whatever the case, I still see a good amount of people online. Guess we will see.
WoW was a WRECK the first 6 months of release. hahah. WAY WAY WAY WAY worse then ESO's darkest day so far.

My guess is the even the box sale numbers have been dissapointing since they haven't announced them. Companies won't want to miss the opportunity to trump their own horn with their good sales figures. There's no point in missing out on presstime and free goodwill that good news generates. Either that or there's the most incompetent pr team of the business working at Z.

WoW brought the genre to the masses and all it's launch problems stems from basically not realizing how popular it would be: they were surprised as heck at the amount of people wanting to play and did not have the server cap to handle it. They got on it fast and actually spent the sub $$ to fix the issues. Imagine that!
Anyways, I had no real issues past the first couple weeks of lag in WoW and that's it. You must have been either not playing, making stuff up, picked a bad server, or simply just remembering wrong. Subs went up and up as time went on. Can't say the same here, most definite signs of people leaving; it is noticeable.
Now the difference here is this....I WANTED to play WoW despite it's launch problems...me and my lan mates would sit there hours on end trying to log on. We got hooked big time and we all ended up playing for 6-7 years too....
Then compare to ESO where after 1 month, I detest the game...I have not played in near a week and I don't miss it one single bit. Now I moved to WS...which is awesome imo but let's not go further with that (hint, TRY IT!).
In end I just conjure up in my mind that ol 80s commercial for wendys where the old lady comments to the clerk about a crappy burger she is given that sums up how I feel about ESO....
"Where's the beef?"
Most this game's 'content' is quests....where almost all of them can be (are) botted. /laugh!
Can this all change? Maybe but when it comes right down to it...the basic design of ESO is flawed to it's core and I severely doubt things will improve a whole lot other than bug fixes but you never know. I will make sure to check back once this goes F2P in a year or less though. Ha!
p.s. this long and boring reply was brought to you by a person who paid a whole lotta money just to play the forums (again). 2 months to go! I will give one bit of props to the devs...this MMO made me not want to play it no more in record time. Usual duration before I throw in the towel on a mediocre MMO is 2-3 months...you did it in 1. Impressive!
