How many subs does ESO have?

It's almost been 2 months now and I amongst many others would love to know how many other beautiful souls are playing with us.

Obviously the number of how many subs a game has doesn't determine whether I'll play a game or not. But I'd like to know how well the game I love is going, so I can brag about it or cry.

HM, im very patient and i love playing but in getting to the end of my tether now with the game messing up and they fix it and make it worse, sick of customer support, sorry i mean lack of, see what maintenance brings tonight. If basic things are not sorted Il be un-subbing im beyond caring anymore, kinda lost the will to play, i think alot of people probly have already rage quit

Blame all the posters who said that Veteran mode was "too easy" - usually people who run in groups and/or use crazy skill synergies like Dragon Knight Standard and resto-staff spam.

Just unsubbed myself. Didn't even make max level. realized my build/class would be unplayable at higher levels, NB class broken, and don't want to be another Sorc running around. In all honestly this sucks, high hopes for SWOTR, but that failed. Now this...could some other company destroy something else that's near and dear to our hearts please.

Everyone knows that if you unsub, you have to go on forums and tell everyone. Kind of like announcing to a whole room that you're leaving the party now and won't be coming back. Just to make sure everyone knows.

You don't think ZeniMax wants to know why people are leaving? Do they have a retention survey for people who unsub (and does it have open boxes for actual responses or is it like WoW's unsub polls that had very specific complaints they were already planning to fix and nothing else)?

As a privately held company, don't look for Zenimax Media to release this game's sub numbers. They're certainly not going to answer a forum query about it.

Are we counting all the bots they have failed to Ban? I'm sure that makes up 2/3's of the remaining population.....

I rolled an alt the other night, to go check out the lower level areas again (and wait out the storm on my high level)...was so pleased to see so many people in the dungeons......then the reality slowly dawned as I tried to speak to asfjabacsx and his asf-Templar companions LOL

Everyone is a caster. At least 2/3 of the population don't want to be casters, judging from other mmos. After a while the 2/3 that don't really like casters will figure out that you have to be one to "get gud" and will move on.

Honestly, I don't think they should tell anyone until they hit a mile marker. Like 500k or a million. Telling everyone how many subs they have just after the end of the first month of free time is up seems viscerally satisfying but I don't think it's a good metric of how successfully the game will actually be in the long run.

Well I got good news for you both.....soon enough the only people left playing will be BOTS and since they are busy in game cheating and don't speak English....you won't have to worry about them coming here to QQ.

I bought a 3 month sub before the patch and now regret it. Can't get a refund so I play, get frustrated, and come back here to read others being frustrated too. Quitting a subscription only means they won't take more money out of you it doesn't mean you aren't currently paying to play.

It depends who you ask. These forums seams to have fact that ESO doesnt have any players, only bots.

I cant guess, but what I have seen since the first month where the population was the biggest, is that I seam to see slighty more and more people around.

Only few companies dare to make those numbers public (and the most of the time, its only when those numbers are big enough... like.. "12 millions of subscribers")... All the other companies just keep shut about it

Like someone else above me said, we can only have a rough guess.
Its less than a few weeks ago.. and will be even fewer in a few weeks coming (if the most pressing problems arent solved soon).

But we will surely notice they hit some sort of a break even point (on their way down) when marketing annonces something sounding like:

"We know ESO is a wonderful game.. and we want to enable as many people as possible to share the joy with us. Therefore we have decided that from now on this game can be downloaded and played for free..."

Zenimax Media through Bethesda released Skyrim numbers on launch day and a week after launch and a few months after launch. I wonder what's different with eso?

My guess is around 100-200k Subs atm. I think they're working on relaunching the game. Rather than focusing on pushing out new content they should just make the game free for now and focus on fixing broken mechanics.

Pushing out new content when the realm is on fire is not going to work, and on the other hand they can't justify the 15$ if they just fix stuff.

If they cancel the subs, hold back all content, then fix everything then relaunch the game and activate the subs again then release content every 3-4 weeks.
