Although the whole ''based on achievements'' thing isn't so bad...it will at least prevent lvl 1 characters from running around in full black & gold sets pretending to be the ultimate bad-ass, which would have caused drama among high-level characters...

There are individual pieces of armor with different colors, than there are a brush and a paint bucket tool - but what is the third Symbol?
any ideas?

However nothing stops you from using a high level alt or guildmate to color it.andreas.rudroffb16_ESO wrote: »ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Dyes will be available for all levels and types of armor. The screenshot posted with the June information update makes armor dying look promising - as well as close to implementation. The range of colors looks broad enough to create some unique armors.
I hope it will be available for all levels of armor - not just higher levels - and all types. Also, I hope its available at all crafting areas.
Thanks for this! It looks good.
with the cave eat : you wont get the color if you havent done the achievement
= no LvL1 will see the color for completing weekly trials
the same for other achievement based colors

You are right in that you have to wear the set so you can not color bound on equip items and give to other players however you can give to an alt as bound items can be used by alts unlike in wow.rayeab16_ESO wrote: »dyes (normal dyes) should NOT BE STATUS SYMBOLS
you allready took the shineys. you allready took the best armour looks in the game
(admitedly, they say it was a bug. but they did not have to change all the 1-49 colour sets to pee green just to make vet gear look even better. vet gear has the shiney overlays, that is more than enough to show off with)
if you look carefully at the picture, you notice you have to wear the gear to dye it
this means that, no, you cannot just make a set in a colour you want, and dye it and sell/ give it or bank it to that alt. you can only dye non bind items
the fact that the achement dye in the image isnt even proper black! is scary. becasue it means that you cant even have 'nearly' the shade you want.
in GW games, black, silver and white (the pure versions in gw2) were the hardest to find. sure, i get that, but it also meant that botting for that, and buying that, becasue the worst thing. if you got a drop of black, you were into platinum, baby! becasue only the guys that were there allday/night could afford to buy them.
there are more than enough showoff things in the game. titals and veteran gears for one. soon enough there will be fancy mounts, fancier pets.
dyeing your gear from rancid butter yellow and guarpee green is not a bonus, its a frakkin NECCESSITY! (and at least that way, you can instantly see who is a goldbot, becasue the rags should not be dyeable)
if you must have fancy achevement dyes, make them metalic dyes. use the veteran shiney overlay part. take the darkest (purest) dyes and attatch the shiney overlay to them.
and, if you realy have to say to players 'because i cannot stand to see others run about in <insert shade i hate here> remove their options but allow ME to have whatever dreadfull combination I personaly must have'
add a button that turns off all dyes on your screen but player dyes.
(its like show / hide helm....have a show / hide other player dyes button in config. that way you can turn off all dyes if you want, but your own)
Might be to reset to default color, other option is to delete a saved set.AlexDougherty wrote: »AleriSadasIndoril wrote: »I like the color system!

In Paint they had a tool that erased that looked like that.
So an eraser to remove a dye would be my guess.
Swtor had armour colouring like that, and dye packs that only dyed the first two colour types, meaning the third couldn't be altered, lol.All the symbols are a bit mysterious, all armors have three color zones, main and two trims.AlexDougherty wrote: »AleriSadasIndoril wrote: »I like the color system!

As for the weapons themselves, let us just dye the small parts like the hilt of a sword and not the actual blade as a pink blade would look silly.

if a dye is one use, it creates desire for it more than if its 'get it once, use as much as you want'
if you have ever played games where the playerbase controls the economy completely *cough goozu/luminary cough* you will realize that what we see here isnt price gouging. when a single item of rice costs as much as a top end horse (here i mean) you might see what i mean.
@ Zaria i had no idea that bound here meant just to your account, i thought it meant to that character. that at least, is a little encouraging, thanks
also, remember that its likely that the achevements required are going to be the new carrot ona stick for us.
do weekly pvp matches, get X amounts of dye achevements
do trials, get X dye
reach new max level, get X dye.
im tired of games ramming down your throat that the so called end of the game, is the point of the game.
that is like saying that your death is the whole point of your life.
its the journey that is the fun part. not the last gasp at the end of it.
if i want to walk through the game. take things slowley. look around me. enjoy the little things, like lore and enviroment and conversations. find Maik the lyer and so on....thats my choice but i should not be told that cosmetic things, things that only have a value in their looks...are beyond me becasue i am taking too long.
taking a long time, is what the game WANTS! the longer you stay, the longer you sub....they should be making content that keeps players resubbing.
and while so called 'endgame' stuff keeps a certain type of player, it only holds them for days-weeks at most. because those that rush content down, dont stop to *chew* their food....then they ether whine about filling their plate up, or move to the next diner....and that is a never ending contest of all-you-can-eat....trying to beat the next game in the list, the next thing.
*shakes head*
EQ was pink, other neon colors and black... dyes are going to make ESO so stupid looking over night...indytims_ESO wrote: »Having various dyes being 'rarer' than others? Especially -black-, which will, as usual, be incredibly popular? Again - lame.
