In UO guilds would build a house to put their vendors in one place, and we used to keep note of the vendor name where good stuff could be had - especially consumables.
Unfortunately, perhaps in this fast paced modern world, players just want a fast click/buy option without moving outside their locality. So from my point of view regional AH's would be the solution so every player has the chance to buy/sell instead of being locked into 5 guilds.

The problem with guild stores is they are fundamentally flawed.
Even if the interface was improved (which it desperately needs to be). They would still not provide a large enough base to create a reliable or efficient market.

I thought dividing the market into subsections was the entire idea. It keeps the economy fresh and forces player interaction. Honestly I think things like zone shouting would go away for the most part if they'd simply fix the search utility associated with the current stores.
If we had auction houses, there would be over 9000 bots using that. No auction house is doing just fine. Don't be lazy.

It was the idea. But I would disagree that it keeps the economy fresh and forces player interaction. I think it just annoys people to the point many don't even bother with it.
I also disagree that fixing the search utility would get rid of the trade spam.
People resort to trade spam because they can't find a buyer/seller for their goods due to the limited amount of players they are allowed to interact with using the guild store system. And that would still be the case even if they improved the search functions.

A lot of the reason spam occurs, in my view, is because it's nigh impossible to find a specific item in the clusterf#%& that is the current system. If I could easily search for specific mats and not have to root through literally every single item on the guild store to find it, it would make things a lot easier. I constantly see people selling mats over zone chat because of this. It wouldn't alleviate all of the problem such as people selling armor and weapons over zone, but it would help a bit I think.
I sell a lot of stuff over the guild stores, so I'm not sure people aren't bothering with them. I think they would definitely do so more often, however, if the guild stores were a little more intuitive than their current state.

Maybe someone should just create one or two Mega Guilds where most who want a server based AH can shop and trade.
Basically the guild size needs a huge increase and the resolution would be to create a guild by type vs just creating any old guild.
Auction/Trade Guilds perhaps could have a member size of 5-10,000 members.
Your desire is fine but realize everyone doesn't want this game to be like other MMO games which keeps this different.

That's why you can have five guilds-2495 potential customers.
It would probably help a bit. I can't disagree with you about that.
But as long as these guild stores remain fragmented and isolated from the vast majority of the player base - I think you will continue to see active trade spam. Because their market size is just too small and unpredictable to provide for a healthy market players can depend on to buy/sell their goods.

A fair point, though maybe an ignorable or separate-chat-tab "trade chat" would be a good step in the right direction as well.

That's not enough. Especially considering many of them could be inactive or not even playing the game anymore. Or simply not interested in what you are trying to sell or buy.
If there were an Auction House, I still could dump off these extra Motifs, for some gold, without the hassle of Zone Chat selling or the being rude to my Guild Mates by giving them away via the Guild Bank.
And yes, I know, I could sell the extras via the Guild Store. I just don't think that Motif's are all that "special" or that I should profit from them via my Guild Mates. That's a personal position/opinion though, neither here nor there.

a) Is your guild active enough to keep your guild store viable and fresh?
b) Is it easy to keep yourself stocked from your current guild store?
c) If you are in multiple trading guilds how many still have a full active membership.
d) Does your trading guild offer normal guild activities and if so do you support them?
