I'm not really following your logic. You think they won't add a race change based on random things you're pulling out of thin air so I should give up on something that A.) makes Zenimax money and B.) would improve my gameplay experience without negatively affecting anyone else.
Um, please note the following piece of TES lore "the Bosmer are the only race that can transform (excepting Vampirism and Lycanthropy). This is because they saw the Ehlonfey transform into the earth bones, which prevents transformations. However because their ancestors saw said transformation they can alter themselves. Such transformations are the source for most monsters on Nirn"

So technically according to TES lore only the Bosmer can change race, and even then only into a monster.
We are not talking about an in game transformation. We are talking about an out of game transaction
Example 1: Someone is new to TES chooses an Altmer because they like Elves. After playing through the first 40-50 levels they decide actually I don't much like the Altmer they is racist pigs I would rather a be a Bosmer. So they log out, pay £5 wait 15 minutes and log back in. Only the race and passives have changed.
Example 2: A veteran TES fan starts a Nightblade Khajiit with the intention of being an assassin. After playing the game for a while they take up a more warlock type approach. They want to change the passives to suit. They log out etc...
How would any of that effect other players?
@Tannakaobi
If it was something like that it could work but I hope they make you change your characters name. It still irks me though I don't want this to go the way most mmos do.
@Erock25You dont need to buy a race change and I hope they never make anything avaible for money to change your charcter. It would ruin the the game.
You have 8 character slots havnt you? Pick any race you like! Its in the game already!
How in the hell would it ruin the game? Racial passives are WAY too powerful in this game and I'm sorry, I'm not going to replay a Sorc for the 12 or so days I have /played. In what way does changing my race have anything to do with you and why wouldn't zenimax want my cash monies for allowing me to do this? If people really have a problem with this, just let us change our race passives to another race passive PLEASE. It isn't my fault that Sorc melee dps is no where in the same stratosphere as caster dps.
@Erock25
If ZOS changes the passives it would be lore breaking. This is an elder scrolls game not just an mmo everything that happens in this game needs to be ok in the lore, race changes and race passives are already set in lore. If they change the lore for the mmo people TES players will leave.
But how would you know someone changed their race or passives? How could it affect you at all if you did not know?
It doesn't matter if I know you changed your passives or not, in the lore each race has their own passives. The races can't just pick and choose the passive they want. Why can't all of you people just stop trying to ruin the lore. ZOS will lose way more money from ruining the lore, then they would from people who are butthurt over not being able to change their race or passive.
@Erock25
But how would they lose money (aka people being mad enough to un-sub that person A used to be a khajit and is now an altmer or is a khajit with altmer passives) if they have no way of ever knowing person A used to be a khajit?
It seems like you realize you have no argument so you are resorting to using words such as butthurt.
In the lore the wood elves are the only race that can change. I wish you would just give up on trying to make them add in a race change option, They wont do it. This is an elder scrolls game first and an mmo second everything that gets added to this game needs to fit in with the lore.

The choice matters too much. I'm losing a good 10% total effectiveness as a Khajit Sorc compared to Altmer Sorc. That is a bit harsh for a choice I made on the first day of early access when it wasn't common knowledge that resto/destro and magicka based builds were twice as effective as melee builds. I just can not comprehend and am still waiting for someone to explain to me how me changing my race will matter to you at all.

If you don't care about lore that's fine but stop trying to ruin it for others
We can speculate, but I think people asking for this are thing to be disappointed for the foreseeable future. Anyone think ZOS is going to do this any time soon?

I think MMO developers need a steady cash flow and I do not see how they could turn down 20$ a pop from many, many people.

Gulp... I er... I actually think that would be another way of making money. People pay to change the name and class and race and change realms if there were realms. It's easy money for the development of the game.
I just don't really understand why anyone interested in the Lore would care what other players are doing.
I was once playing WoW, happily doing my own thing. Probably leveling an alt. when I came across a group of players. They were literally the fellowship of the ring from LOTR. They were enjoying their RP, I watched for a while and went on my way, happy that other players were enjoying the game in their own way. It was completely against WoW lore.
What's to stop people from doing the same in ESO? Would that cause people to up and leave with claims of Lore breaking? What's the difference.
My point is that anyone who is truly bothered by what other players are doing when it does not effect them are not really worth their subscription fee. Especially if it stops the devs making a load of cold hard cash to put back into development of the game.

Again, just for you to hopefully finally get it, how would anyone who cares about lore be affected by not having a clue if someone changed their race? In Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim I could go into the game files and edit my race no problem. Did other people decide not to buy or support the game because of this possibility? How is that scenario any different than the one we currently have with ESO besides the fact that it would increase revenue and therefore help the game that these lore aficionados love.
This would likely in some way conflict with the ' any race - any faction ' pre-order bonus, do I can see ZOS not touching this.

I actually prefer it is just a racial passive swap instead of total race change because it would be easier on ZOS. If it was a total race change, they would have to implement some mechanic where you are taken back to the character creation screen.

The lore breaking part was if it was an in game transaction not an out of game transaction
but that's my point. This option would not be some quest somewhere in the game which would break the 'lore'
It would be an out of game transformation, like buying a mount. Chances are you would never know. If it was a friend you would, but so what? it would still not effect your game play or your story. Unless of course you are a RP player, in which case that friend is probably not a good choice to share RPing with anyway.

If you want to play as caster NB in pvp, Bosmer racials aren't totally useless. The extra stamina and poison resistance is good for pvp, because stamina is needed for CC break, and there are a few pison/disease shots like venom arrow and meatbag catapults. The stealth bonus is still good because casters NBs also make good gankers.JoseDelgadoCub17_ESO wrote: »
I said make another character. TES is a great series with fantastic lore and I don't want you and other people trying to get ZOS to break it to please you. If you can't pick a race and stick to it that's your problem so once again just make a new character. The wood elves are the only race that is able to change.
Yes... I want to spend another 350 hours leveling another character because ZOS made stamina builds useless compared to magicka. I chose my race because I wanted to play a build that is not viable (stamina NB). I'm not going to spend 350 hours because ZOS messed up. This should be a free option given by quest line. Plus I'm a Bosmer anyway, I should get to change.
