✭I'd like to see things like mounts, inventory space unlocks, costumes, and XP buffs. Essentially all of the standard non-pay-to-win things game stores typically have. I'd add respecs to that list if they absolutely refuse to lower the in-game cost, but I'm hoping that they will.1 -

Why? It's doing far worse than SWTOR was when it had to go F2P (and then it started making way more money when it did). I'm not saying the game will be free to play tomorrow, but after six more months of Zenimax's poor patches, balancing, big fixes, and customer support...ESO will never be str8 F2P. It may end up like GW2, where you buy the game, and then theres no sub. But I doubt ESO will turn into a full on free game where u can download and play at no cost.4 -

SWTOR F2P is basically a lie. All their F2P is would count as is a long term trial. If you want to play the game at any length, sub up.5 -

I'd like to see your actual facts that support this statement. Like.. sub numbers, actual ones, not guesses. Not things based off anecdotal evidence on the forums. Cause FFXIV:ARR had the exact same stuff (if not worse) posted in theirs, had a worse launch. Character lockouts, no queues on the servers resulting in the only way to gain access being to spam a button for over an hour, halting of digital sales because their server structure couldn't handle it, dungeon servers not functioning properly and preventing people from doing main storyline quests that block essential parts of the games and the first content patch bringing absolutely no new top end progression on top of the end game raid being incomplete-able for the first few months, but them not making any sort of comments on it..oh and severe lag so that a large portion of the playerbase was getting hit by aoe's they were out of, with plenty of videos to support it.. in fact using a tunneling service was pretty much the standard for many players, even those that didn't live far at all from the datacenter. FFXIV forums also included multiple threads on server population.. over six months in and it still has over 1 million subscribers worldwide.
This thread is kinda premature. Yes, all MMOs seem to go the F2P route eventually now a days. I'm sure even WoW will get to that point. However, very few of them have gone F2P within the first year of release... very very few.Edited by Lalai on June 4, 2014 7:07PMFisher extraordinaire!

@OP: Quite cheesy of you to use the word "upcoming" together with "f2p", but not mentioning ESO in the same content. I case you actually meant it more general, I still do not care, because I've never seen any reasonable f2p model so far and can not imagine how a game company can deliver quality without $ income. Regardless if its p2w or not, a f2p model is always just a decoy and usually even more expensive than p2p in a long run. You queston could be aswell: How to feed to playes minds that they are happy with and enjoy it to spend $ for stuff they actually do not need at all? Like fancy vanity pets... Like drug dealing...
