What would you like to see if/when ESO goes f2p?

Lots of doom and gloom about if/when ESO goes f2p. I think, at this point, it's sort of an obvious conclusion. The launch did not go as well as hoped, the game continues to struggle, and people are leaving for wildstar, or just leaving. We cann wish for it to stay they way we want but, in the end, I think the question is WHEN ESO goes f2p, will you guys still be around to support the game?

Or we could wish that they'd do what FF14 did when it failed. Get rid of trash people in charge and resurrect the game (with a monthly pay cycle) with hard work and A LOT of interaction with the community.

If it goes f2p every person I know (in a VERY active guild) and myself will leave without question. Either or, the point is its only a forgone conclusion if they don't wake up, stop being apathetic and so mute to their communities concerns.

My friends that I ran a static with have returned to SWTOR, over the issues with the game.

Ironic. My wife and I resubscribed to SWTOR, because we can group all content there, while in ESO we see forced-solo instances.

Just because i am curious what game did they go to when Swtor crapped the bed? Or did they only move to Swtor once it was free?

    I'll bite: ehr, what?

Well considering that no mmo in the last 5-10 years hasnt gone f2p

Actually Eve Online hasn't gone f2p and they just hit 11 years.

Also Dark Age of Camelot, hitting 13+ years old is not f2p or p2w- but the poster will conclude they are out of his 5-10 year range. Only 2 known games went F2P- Sw:ToR and War: Online- both horrible games built on hype. Also very bandwaggony games.

Rift, Age of Conan, and Tera also went F2P, however all were also out for a good while before that happened. CoV/CoH also went the F2P route for a bit before closing if I remember right.. Pretty much any MMO that launched in the 5-10 year range has.. so that's at least right. However very very few, if any save for the two you listed, went F2P within the first year.. which is where this thread majorly jumps the gun. Add to that Zeni doesn't seem keen on the F2P idea and I don't see it happening within the next few months.

To add to the list of old games that are still sub based. Ultima Online :)

Update: After checking, even Warhammer Online was a few years before shutting down, and it looks like the F2P version of the game never officially launched. It got shut down in open beta in 2013. So.. that leaves the only example I can think of where a game went F2P within the first year of it's release to be SWTOR.

Second update: Someone has pointed out to me that SWTOR actually lasted 13 months. So it also did not go F2P in under a year. TSW seems to be the only game that has.

DC Universe Online when F2P in just over 6 months.

Does it matter that they enjoy SWTOR more than ESO? And btw, they pay a sub.
