Warlocks, Magicka Furnace, Arena(or whatever the new player made set is called). Pretty much the same for everyone atm, with the preference of light over other options.
I have couple alts, all classes covered, and currently all of them wear light armour - beacuse it is most effective right now.
Light (at least 5)

All arounders: Magicka Furnace, Willow's Path, Magnus Gift, Seducer
Dungeons and trials: Worm's Raiment (only needed 1 set per group as its benefits do not stack)
Sadly even the originally planned DK-tank build nowdays has to wear a dress ;-)
Light Armour, anywhere and everywhere, it has become almost mandatory. Sure you can wear something else, maybe for RP (or looks?) or to become an outcast.
You might also want to add a staff as your weapon.
Elder Sorcerers Online is what we have right now, it would be hilarious if it wasn't plain sad.
Looking for some input on preferred armor sets for each class ?

People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true! Wizard's first rule

NB siphoning tank. 2H/5L,S&B
Twilight's embrace 5 pieces . 5% spell crit +10% healing
Willow's Path 3 pieces 5% spell crit
With +40%spell crit those Sap Essence and Swallow Soul critical heals begin to add up. You just keep your magicka up with Siphoning attacks and drain them dry .
Regrettably, heavy armor is only useful in a heavy tank situation due to the passive +healing you can get. It really does nothing significant for your damage or ... well, anything that you can nudge with the other armors.
For the Sorcerer im rollin all light armor and using warlock and the sun set. three pieces for each set. The sun set is all fire based so you have to stick with fire destro staffs.
A circle is the reflection of eternity. It has no beginning and it has no end - and if you put several circles over each other, then you get a spiral.
Mixture of Unassailable for the health regen and blocking resist and Akaviri for 15% reduction in ulti cost. Unassailable will change to Covenant for PvP damage reduction once I have 5 pieces.
Heavy for my DK even if everyone is Light everywhere. I don't care meta-gaming the stats I just want my nord with heavy armor and a Big two handed weapon ahah
And I like heavy armor passive. Yes. For my playstyle it's fine
