Even if you have a hang up about the Aldmeri Dominion and you hate it because of Skyrim, remember that this is the 2nd Era and not the 5th. I say that because the Aldmeri Dominion is the best faction to start your character out in.

As someone who's played through them all, I think most people would say that their favorite is AD, then DC, then EP last. By quality of quest and overall presentation and beauty, AD simply wins hands down. DC follows, but not closely. EP is ok due to Naryu being a dark elf hottie with a cute personality, but doesn't add up to the quests and beauty in the other alliances.

The reason it is important to start in AD is because you want your 1-50 experience to be one where you take your time and enjoy the quests. The VR+ and ++ content get progressively harder and you will find it a bit less enjoyable if you're a soloer like me. Plus, you'll likely be burned out of listening to all the quests and taking your time by the time you're in VR+ and ++ content. Regardless, AD's content is purely fantastic. Queen Ayrenn is simply awesome and I'd be behind her as the true champion of the Ruby Throne and White-Gold Tower any day over the other two.

Lastly, it's the khajiit. Guys, it's totally the khajiit. They are the most wonderful furry little kitty cats ever. Their voices, their personalities... you just wanna hug them and pet their little kitty heads all the way through Reaper's March <3 No other race compares to them.

For Prosperity! For Security! For Unity! For The Dominion!

    My advice to new players:

Sorry you wasted your money, but quit now while you're ahead. The character design you probably want to play is going to suck and will probably get nerfed anyway.

Maybe come back in a few months, but probably not even that. Go play Watch Dogs or something instead.

I liked the DC quests better myself...though raz makes up for that...

EP is just odd, it seems like you spend most of your time helping people do something crazy & then when it blows up in their faces, you have to save them from their own creation.

    I hate the AD areas.

I got a character to level 14 there and deleted it.

My VR Daggerfall was sent to AD for vet content ... haven't touched it.

    I hate the AD areas.

I tried an alt in AD, I much preferred EP. I'll admit it's prettier but gameplay wise there's too many awkward to get to places in Auridon

Have you tried rerolling to a Sorcerer or Dragonknight?
Templars do more dps than DK's.

No because they had a decent leveling experience this is how they trick you. But once you reach VR zones its the hamsterwheel situation.

I got fooled into buying more sub then I really needed.

Good advice : if you have fallen into the pit only sub for 1 month at a time.

1-50 is fun. It feels like an elder scrolls game and you can get your money's worth out of the PvE content.

If you plan on doing endgame raids/trials/PvP anytime soon, DO NOT be a Templar. Nightblades are also pretty sh*tty right now. DK's and Sorcs rule at both endgame PvE and PvP. Templars have some major scaling and resource management issues. Nightblades are great but so many of their skills are broken.

It's how haters on the forums feel...but that's true in any game. Even at the very height of WoW's popularity, it's forums were full of people claiming that the game was a failure and that it would be turned off in a few months (and that was like...3 or 4 years ago.)

Does this mean they're all bad cows and we shouldn't pet them or feed them tasty grasses? :/

I has many grasses, but there aren't many nice little cows around to feed :(

Although I agree in theory, the problem with AD is that the same story repeats itself in each zone.
Some close to the queen or zone ruler betrays them. Their leaderships are riddled with traitors.

Excuse me! Are you talking about the right game? WoW forums were nowhere near this negative "at the very height of WoW's popularity". The most negativity it had in its first few years was right after Burning Crusade released.

Go slow and have fun. It isn't a race. Read the books. Get to know the lore. Find some guilds that you are comfortable with. Experiment with the first free level of each crafting profession prior to choosing one and have fun with that. You will die a lot. Reviving is cheap at lower levels. Don't let it bug you. We are just into launch. Expect many bugs. Help the community fix them by reporting them as well as any bots or spammers. Take some sense of pride in that you are here i the beginning and the final result will in some small part be due to your efforts. Stay positive. Kill the NPC trolls and ignore the ones of the player variety, both in game and on these forums.

lol, yeah....there were never tons and tons of "PvP is unbalanced & will destroy this game!" threads, you're right. There were also never any "Bliz let guild X test the raid on the PTS before launch giving them an unfair advantage, this game will fail if bliz keeps helping their favorite guilds get world firsts!"....

Sorry but I really thought before launch by watching streams that AD looked beautiful but I prefer DC now. AD is just forest after forest after forest. DC is forest, swamp, desert, and so on. Riven spire is by far the best questing in any mmo.

The amount of people who advise new players to quit the game is amusing. Have you guys quit yet yourself? If so, why do you still linger here? If I were so unhappy about some game as some people here seem to be, I would sure as hell not bother going to the game's forums either.

On topic: I also like the AD areas better than EP/DC areas mostly due to the environment, which I find to be the most beautiful and interesting. I am not one who listens/reads through every quest so that really isn't a big factor for me. However, given that you get through your first alliance's areas very quickly compared to the veteran areas, it might be better to play in some other alliance to get to enjoy the AD areas as veteran content.

Sounds like my RL actually lol

DC all the way. But, then, I've never been a huge fan of Hib or Mid. ;p

    I thought DC was aight.

I skipped most of the dialogue in AD though as they're the enemy. Progression post lvl 50 means siding with the enemy, killing your comrades in the process. The story really goes off the rails at this point, immersion lost.

For those starting out, take your sweet ass time 1-50 and it's probably a good idea to roll DK or Sorc if you want to do VR group content.

I have to agree with the original post. Play AD first for the beauty and the story lines. EP was the worst of the three and DC was pretty darn good, but I did it so many times in BETA I felt AD was a better place to start (And I was right).

Meanwhile, all the HATE is warranted here about VR content. It's a complete grind that makes you feel like your game just broke once you start to level VR in the other factions. The smooth ride of 1-50 at a good pace is quickly drawn out to a crawl and be prepared to have your hat handed to you by mobs. I was NOT a happy player about VR content. Love the game and will play several ALT characters to level 50, but refuse to do VR content again from any faction. The "Play it the way you want" goes out the door. No XP for Exploration of TWO WHOLE ZONES and you have to do almost EVERY Dungeon, World Bosses, Zone Quests and Dark Anchors in the zone in order to level up enough for the next zone.

I'd suggest the monthly to monthly SUB plan as well unless you really feel confident it's going to keep you busy for more than 2-3 months.

And why is the VR areas different? Its simply more quests?

Note that one benefit with VR is that you can roam around more, even quest in multiple zones at once, 1-50 even the entrance area of the zones have grey enemies who don't drop loot or xp then you are closer to the exit.

Yes you get bored by just doing quests so do something else then go back.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
