DKs get 6th nerfhammer. RIP Non-staff/non-light armor DKs. Dks lack uniqueness that other class has

    All the whines are kind of ridiculous. DKs still do the most single target DPS in the game by a good margin. Doubling, tripling,or quadrupling up (vs Temps/NBs) is now much harder to do.

    Seriously, the class has been in the light far too long, and the people playing it have gotten used to their OP-ness.

    Everybody's Sorcerers Online. No one will play anything but light armored staff using sorcs anymore. Tanking and Dks are dead in the water now.

    Do you have any facts to back that up? Night blade has some pretty good single target dps. If dks had quaruple the dps we would have been seeing dks doing nearly 4k dps. That, is not the reality. You have no idea what your talking about.

    Buff the classes that need it and then buff the group PvE content accordingly.

They just trow random "fix" without thinking about all the other synergies... that's actually how those OP built made it in the game : the guys who developed the DK skill lines were probably high... because to anyone with half a brain those OP synergies were OBVIOUS...

    I think this just highlights the problem that whoever they gave beta privs to severely abused their circumstances and did not effectively test their game. Or they monstrously botched their game between beta and release. Seeing as they are opening up the test environments to the general public I would hypothesize it was the former rather than the latter. Onto your summation that just because you don't use the overpowered abilities or exploit they shouldn't fix the things that are wrong I don't know how to let you see past your own nose.

    Many players seek to get beta access just for the "supposed" status it gives. "I've played since beta" is an often heard argument these days in attempts to make your statements more valid. It's not so much about testing the game then, but just have been there.

    Though that said, Zenimax Online stands out as a bit of an underdog in the MMO world, they seem to struggle to figure out how to balance the game and how to run the MMO. Developing is one thing, running is another thing. I think that is why we see such massive changes to classes. That and the lack of actual raids, though, I don't think having any raids at this point would be wise, they can't balance classes, so my guess is that raids with several bosses would be a complete mess.

    It was not just the DK skill line design. It was other skill lines.

    PvP DKs got out of control when you combined Banner, Talons, Battle Roar, Combat Frenzy, Emperor Authority, Vampire damage reduction and the Dragonguard set. Talk about a mitigation and Ultimate generation nightmare.

    Well, yes, because that way they nip OP ultimates in the bud for when they actually fix the broken skills and synergies in the other classes.

    Why fix what's broken when it's easier to break what's working(ish)?

    I think it is funny that OP made a thread title trying to complain about the DK nerf and it turned into 10 pages of people supporting the nerf and asking for more DK nerfs.

    Still the best survival ultimate in game

    Still highest single target and aoe dps (nothing for the rest of the skills has changed).

    My personal opinion on the balance of Magicka vs Stamina....

    Magicka is meant to be High Damage low sustainment.
    Stamina is meant to be Standard Damage High Sustainment.

    Stamina relies HEAVILY on Light/Heavy Attack for damage and their abilities are there for support and slight DPS burst, this would still be lower than Magicka burst.

    Stamina builds ALSO benefit from the increased survivability that Stamina builds also bring IE Block, Dodge, Stun

    Magicka is meant to run out bringing the DPS of an ALL Magicka user lower than that of a Stamina user.


    Based off the above theory the system is broken. Magicka users DONT run out of Magicka and if they do its not fast enough nor long enough to really matter in the long run thus creating the imbalance we are seeing in the game.

    melee should always have a large burst . its the nature of end game magica can sit at range and stay out of mechanics easily. Melee should have high enough burst to kill adds fast , and be able to mach a ranged magica build sustained DPS.
    Melee DPs should be high risk high yield.
    Currently it is a sub par low producing high risk build. the reasons have to do with Four major factors.
    1). Armor passives in heavy and medium are severly lacking. they soft cap way to easy and do not return the benefits light armor does at all

    2) there are abilities in game that make you armor cap no matter what armor you wear. making it completely viable for you to mitigate and absorb damage as well as a Heavy wearing Tank build. with out any penalty to health or stamina due to the powerful passives in light. you can AP yourself into health soft cap with a couple of gllyphs. yet still retain endless supplies of magica and all the crit bonuses to your class abilities. niether of these scenario's can exist in heavy or medium

    3).Stamina is used for far to many things in game other then just weapon abilities making a resource starved dynamic.Nor does the soft cap or reduction work like magica does nor have weapons that return them in obscene amounts from simple mouse attacks.

    4). Melee abilites are severly underpowered and become restricted by animations.Add in the fact all boss encounters are extremely punishing to melee with one shot mechanics near bosses. as well as knock backs you rarely get a chance to do enough rotations to even make it worth the effort.

    Dk's needed adjustments for sure but not in the utility department. its counter productive to the group mechanics ZOs designed. Tanks were supposed to be Taunting utility that controlled the battlefield . there is very little utility a DK provides now with talons nerf. when Zos throws 12 to 16 trash mobs at you routinely in VR dungeons the limit of radius and potential targets limited to 3 you might as well just take the ability out it sucks ass. its become a VR spam fest on every pull. there is no skill involved its rune and AOE. and some of the VR bosses are not doable for the average joe with the horrible tools we have for these encounters. the damage shields suck , damn near broken for the cost of them if you wear heavy armor. talons i wont even use anymore it wastes a slot. in hale is a joke now . it used to be an Oh crap handle for those situations the healer fell behind. Others exploited it for Ulti building in light armor but to each his own. i never used that chicken *** easy mode build.currently as it stands Zos will need to dumb down the content even further and water down Group mechanics to a window licking drool pace to balance out the massive nerf's they are handing down. Believe me its not gonna stop at DK.

    I already see people shouting for tanks and tanks saying too bad weve been nerfed too much in zone now, as a tank I agree, weve been destroyed as a viable style.

    Yes it is no longer any fun. it was already shoddy when geared out and you could light armor resto destro your way through the content with out any tradtitional mitigation type play style.

    i don't think people are complaining about the banner nerf . its all the utility nerfs that are making the class just completely bad for most VR dungeons . most of the crazy crap DK's were doing has to do with the horrible imbalance in armor's and the resto destro staff.

    the lack of tanks has absolutly nothing to do with DK specific nerves - if you would be honest DK tanks have had the least drop in numbers due to the shield nerf wich prety much gimped all otzher tanks into oblivion...

    Yes, I totally agree with you that the poster painted a big ole bulls eye on himself.

    Finally, Yes.. I also agree that more NERFS to the DK are needed, but some real BUFF's to lower classes should be made first (NB/Templar) to bring them up to at least SORC level of DPS. (With Nerf DK's are still OP DPS)

    FYI - Yea.. I'd like to have a 11 min trails run with 11 other Templars, but our class got the big ole nerf bat in BETA and has been poor DPS since then.

    MOAR Nerf. PTS Patch Notes 1.2, now Burning Talon DoT is decreased as well, so Talons are getting nerfed into oblivion ontop of activating only 50% of the time.
    Other parts I hardly use so its meh but, well, yea just ignore Talons, don't bother using, Volcanic Rune is the way to go.
    Well at least DK Staff users would be less OP with Lava Whip only affecting Ardent Flame.

    Please o powerful DK if your so knowledgeable please post your tanking load out for VR end game dungeons. and some of your epic strats for lets say spider boss in DC or EH. Craglorn i wont even ask as i know you have never even set foot in a trial

    One, talons dps was garbage, it was used for CC. But since it doesnt work for *** since 1.1.2, why not nerf it more? Couple that with blocking/1h &S abilities being nerfed to douing less damage than a resto staff user, why dont you tell me why we are pissed?

    What are you talking about? Are you comparing templar dps to dk tank?
    How is that even relatable? All classes can have dps skills with resto staff.

    Compare tank dk/temp or dps dk/temp and we'll see. If you loose this race as dk, your doing it wrong.
