Just found this on the internet, well worth a read. IMHO the author hits the nail on the head.

Spot on, good review. Thanks for posting the link. However, I feel that this will give ESO a green light to swing the nerf hammer hard and heavy. That will put a nail in the coffin for this game.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Rather like starting a sentence with a "full stop" ?

Very good review. It was fair and without belaboring points, really outlined some of the major issues with TESO.

OP, i would advise you tag your post so it might hopefully get SOMEONE at ZOS to possibly take a look at the linked article.

Every player with a basic amount of experience in ESO knows the class power heriarcy is Dragonknight, Sorcerer, Templar, Nightblade. In almost every leaderboard in PvP the top ranks consist of Dragonknights and Sorcerers. In the newly released Trials (timed dungeon events with leaderboards) the top teams are made up of mostly... you guessed it: Dragonknights and Sorcerers. That is the real problem with how long it has taken to address the imbalance: leaderboards. The top times are done. Even if they get balance right and bring the power level down a bit for these classes, that statistic stands. In PvP campaigns that last three months, we are nearly 2/3s complete and there is no way to catch top players even if changes are made at this point, which they won't be because the next large patch for class changes isn't due out for another 4-6 weeks. But, playing through the questlines with each character type will really give you a sense of how imbalanced they are. Content that seemed impossible with one class was a cake-walk with others. It was really eye-opening in a completely different way than just running into a tough player in PvP or seeing some stats on leaderboards.

    Death Recap for Templars
Have you tried rerolling to a Sorcerer or Dragonknight?
Templars do more dps than DK's.

Very good article highlighting the more pressing issues this game has and my sentiments exactly! Good find!

The review is pretty much spot on. Despite what folks said I tried to make a stamina 2h/bow build of any flavor work. Best result has been the DK stamina build but he's struggling now even at V1 and if I pop werewolf on a group it's a death sentence rather than a 'rawr' moment. I wanted to hit things on the head with 2h weapons and had to pick up the bow to get some ranged damage in first to survive and rely on DK class skills to live through it, fair enough. It just seems like too damn much work for too little return in the veteran levels. I love the game but have a hard time making myself even log on atm because it just feels like a chore now.

Fair review, thx for posting it.
Hopefully someone at ZoS will take notice.
I want you to fix the game because I do like it.
Opinions are like buttholes : Everybody has one, and they usually stink.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

The Author's closing statement is also how I'm feeling right now.

"Be great. We want you to be."
"I want to give you my money, but you are making it hard."
"You need to tackle some of the big problems now, not later."

Dead On. Zeni read this.. I also want to love this game but when he talks about class balances i jumped out of my chair with joy i wasnt the only one with a nb that could move through everything then hit the boss and die 30 times... the game needs more balancing and user customization fast...

Even though this review was made by a person who actually played through the game. It was obvious that he based his opinion on how a MMO suppose to me.

This one is far better. Even if the "score" isnt the best. The person have actually played ESO and understood that ESO is a new type.

    LOL, this tired old comment.

Please describe ONE SIGNIFICANT game mechanic in ESO that in any way makes it a "new type"!

The review itself is one of the more objective, and at least it's literate unlike the facile Angry Joe video which so many of the kids round here like to watch, and ZOS could do well to take it seriously.

    Um

I did say that they have taken alot of ideas/features from other games and changed/added to suit ESO.

But Game mechanics in ESO that makes it a "new type".'

    1. All lore is connected. Even to quests, events, everything. When you read the long term plan for ESO, the LORE is key. You play in a Tamriel where changes/adds whatever, is connected. Your personal choices, may it be from quests, game events or what not, effects the lore for YOU.

    2. Combat system. YES, there are other games with combat system more then autotarget hack and slash. ESO combat system is very simular to conans, yes, But move and you dont get hit. Shoot an arrow and someone moves....you miss.
The combat system is intergrated with you character skills, abilities, overview of your surroundings and player personal skill.

    3. Quests. This is not a mechanic per say, but so many quests that makes sense, even some who have different choices and effects depending what you choose. And vast difference in Quests. Like one I found where there was alot of stages, but last one was to decide the faith of some sleeping/ghost king. It was in 3 parts, and you could choose one of 3 different companions. Bear, fox or wolf I think it was. Each with different abilities to assist you.

When you succeed in this, you got another choice, what to do with this waken king, and that vastly changed how the quest ended.

I got a skillpoint for this one. I use no addons, so I have no idea what quests gives skillpoints or not.

    4. Skill based game. NOT class based. Yes, this is not new either, but they way they done it, adding different ways to get more skillspoints, the complete choices to the player where to put them. EVEN if all skills are avaible to all players, you still need to find a specific guild, like mage guild, choose to be a vampire etc, to access those skills.

And for the regular player, where you put your skillpoint is very important, because you dont have so many that you can put in whatever is avaible.

I am exluding player who play with the addon and have what...600 skillspoints?
If that was not possible and you had to find your own skillpoints, then where you choose to spend the point is way more important, and fun!

    5. Exploring. No other game have this much to explore. Even fallout, which I played 1,2,3, new vegas, did not have this much to explore.

    6. Build your own character. Classes means less. You pick what feels right for you and how you wish to play. And you get better in the skills you pic, by using em.

Feel free to rip this apart, but I am speaking from a players view who do not use addons, google where every lore book or treasure map is.

ESO is a game you can play, and every day find something new, learn something new, or even change your mind because of play experience.

I am having fun every day I play. Can you say then same?
