Error 301 so it begins again

Any of you guys getting this like me again
Error 301
Cant login to server

Last time it was like hours before we were able to login again.

Tried repairing the game, still Error 301

You need to wait for next megaserver reboot for it to clear.

Some people had to wait a week last time for it to clear, as megaserver reboot clears it. In mean time you can play against the other megaserver (US or EU) and you will be able to log in (but without characters).

i got 301 after a crash but it seemed every time it crashs my norton secruity would block it from being used so i toggle the allow and then it works again but thats just for me not sure what happens for you guys

Also having the problem as of just after noon today. Very frustrating. Talked with Support by phone, they had me send in several host.developer.log files but I have not heard anything back. Anyone who has had a recent version of this error and has had it fixed since, please share what fixed it for you.

This was the response I recieved today following requesting to have my ticket regarding the 301 error escalated. My 301 issue was resolved with the server restart on Thursday for maintenence. I was out 4 days. I hope it helps:

First things first, with regards to your query regarding a server restart, some North American server maintenance is planned for today at 8am EDT, and a reboot would naturally be part of this. So, it may be that your issue will resolve itself at this point!

However, if not, I'd like you to navigate to the folder where the game's UserSettings.txt is stored (Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live) and open the file in Notepad. Please find the following setting and modify it to this value (it will probably be at "2"):

SET AcceptedEULAVersion "3"

Once modified, save the file, close Notepad, and try and launch the game again.

Please let me know if you require any further support in relation to this issue, and I'll be back in touch.

This error is insanely horrible. I have to restart my internet connection and/or PC about every 45-90 minutes when playing now. One too many times the game crashes and won't let me back in with out restarting my game client and/or my PC.
Guess yesterday's "FIX" was a puff of smoke. Love this game but it's becoming more frustrating with every patch that is pushed out. Breaking more stuff than fixing.

I'm curious what exactly is causing this issue for folks, it obviously should be at the top of zenimax's list I would hope.

is the game crashing or freezing up and being closed and then your locked out?

are those effected port forward/triggering ESO ports?

I only ask because NAT will drop packets from the game unless the ports are open because that's how NAT works. Even if you can play the game with no port forwards, NAT is still dropping packets from the game.

I posted how to port trigger on the other thread, if you have time, do it anyway if your having problems or not, that way any connection issues will be ruled out, and you will get much shorter loading screens as a bonus.

I really hope they get this error sorted out for you guys/gals, this has to be really annoying, and I don't blame anyone for being upset for not being able to play for extended periods of time. They really need to get this fixed asap.

What is NAT? Might sound like an odd question, but i have no idea what you are asking. I don't have a router in my connection so that part of the info was of no use to me.

I tried to log out game was stuck, so i closed it worked fine for the american server today, but not good for the european one as i get login timeouts there. What i do notice, is full packet losing if you look at the betesda thingy, all the other parts are fine.

NAT stands for Network Address Translation. Its what a router uses to share your internet connection with multiple devices. NAT also acts like a firewall, and can cause some applications not to work correctly without forwarding or upnp.

if your not using a router, then this wouldn't effect you.

so you closed the program because it appeared to be stuck. Sounds like a file is corrupted somewhere. Sometimes an application has a file open for write, if the application closes or crashes before it has closed the file, it can get corrupted.

hmmm.....i just wonder which eso file it is? Perhaps the server is expecting data from the client, but the client can't read the data from the file because it contains invalid data.

I have an idea, give me a few minutes, I'm going to go look at those game files, maybe we can fix it.

game crashed in cryodiil about 40 mins ago, now cant get back in due to error 301.

Tried a reapir, tried to reinstall this client.
Flamed this game and unsubbed after 5 days because of crap like this but due to love of game said would give it more time.

Why does my char lock up randomly after 45mins meaning relog.
why does my char lock up on death in trials meaning complete relog.
why does bolt escape cast the animation but does no escape.
why does absorption field work willy nilly
why can you rush out a fix for exploits overnight yet we have to wait ages for serious game breaking issues to go un resolved.

you do realise what is popping for real on tuesday dont you!!!
sort your **** out for ***** sake.

It's not a lie, 1.1.3 patch includes a fix for this. Sadly some people will have their subscriptions expire before the patch hits. ZOS lost money over this one.
