Best class/skill pairing for a couple?

OK, if you were starting from scratch and planned to partner with a significant other--what two classes and builds complement each other the most for PvE all the way from level 1 through VR12 in terms of efficiency and being able to mow through anything that comes your way with ease with as little damage taken as possible?

Keeping in mind that some things have to be handled solo, neither could be too dependent on the other for those occasions when they were forced to fight alone.

Also, since this would be impossible to answer if individual play styles and preferences were considered, take those considerations out.

Just the most efficient and viable team in the game, period.

Have you tried rerolling to a Sorcerer or Dragonknight?

    Sigh.

    I was afraid of that.

Well, if you want to play 4mans and other content without waiting, a Sorcerer Tank and a Templar Healer will allow you to move through the game with ease. Just remember to stay in sync with questing and such if you actually want to play together as a team.

LOL @ the responses. It really depends on how you play.

From what I've garnished on the forums, a team of four can take most dungeons - not all, but most. So you're halfway to taking most of the dungeons in the game. :)

A lot of that content is solo player. Two people will help you soar through it. And you have eight character slots, right?

So do the DK&DK or DK&Sorc for those times when you might want to PvP or go into dungeons. I've heard of some people who've done the 4 person dungeons in teams of two.

For the rest of the game, play what you want. I keep hearing how the NB class is gimped. But if you don't rush through but rather try to do all the quests or most of them, you'll end up several levels above most of your mobs and handling everything fine - no matter what class you play.

If you do want to play the entire game in a group with family (or friends) as I do, then please be aware of the forced solo phases for the main story, Mage's Guild, and Fighter's Guild. Add your voice to the list of people who want Zenimax to change the forced solo phases to permit groups to enter.

I would actually argue that Templar and DK are an even better combination. DK has the crowd-control and damage absorbing abilities, as well as some DPS skills. Templar can handle its own DPS when needed, with the added support of healing and stamina recovery abilities. There are two skilled that increase stamina regen, one for your entire group, and one that is an enemy attack/stun attack that an ally can regain stamina from. It is also an area of effect attack.

DK are indeed good, but the latest devolution to Shield Bash has made them a little tougher to do some content with. Sorcerers, however, are still pretty strong in all areas.

There is nothing wrong with any pairing as long as you have some healing and some ability to take a beating. Atm Templar and Nightblade certainly seem to offer less than Sorcerer and Dragon Knight in "endgame" content but Zenimax basically have no choice but to balance this out. The only class type I would advice not using is the melee Templar atm as quite frankly it's hugely lacking.

Two DK's would breeze through the content. You can both spam the standards and just wipe the floor with anything.

Look at esohead skill calculator and get an overview of the skills and how they sync with the weapons you plan on using. Then you and your "significant other" can play with what you chose based on that. Never to early to decide how you want your characters to look in the higher lvls.

Two DKs would go through normal content very easy. Until it is time to do some 4-man dungeons. Then, they will be sitting around going "LF Tank / LF Healer for xxx run".

Of course, you can skip the dungeons until you can faceroll them with the two DKs, but then what is the point of playing an MMO. Might as well play Skyrim.

Why couldn't they be a healer or a tank? Any class can be anything and plus DK makes an excellent tank.

I didn't do a lot of the content in duo but 2NBs can be a lot of fun.in pve. Trying to synchronize stealth kills is nice, Also two siphoning S&B tanky NB healing each other with Sap essence spam and chaining Veil of Blades and Bolstering Darkness while CCin everything with Volcanic rune would melt everything up to Craglorn. If one keeps a resto staff on the second tab while the second goes all the way single target dps on the second tab it would be even better.

DK in cloth w/staves with NB in cloth with resto staff would be the most rewarding in terms of progressing.

If you dont like looking like a granny hobo, you could go with a Tank DK and a Templar/whatever and still be fine all the way through.

The problem is that even if you play most of the game together, the Main Quest, Fighters Guild, and Mages Guild questlines all have some forced solo boss fights. So you both need to be able to get through those fights solo.

My wife and I both play Nightblades. We never had any real difficulty getting from 1 - VR1. Though after realizing the massive grind and little incentive that is Veteran Levels, she's put ESO on the back burner until it's been unf***ed by the Powers That Be.

I, however, am still Nightblade'ing it up.

    We had fun though.

NB was a nice choice because we could not only do enough damage to put down anything we came across but the Siphoning tree also allowed for us to keep ourselves and one another alive with health siphons.
