Please desensitize the 'assist' for completing quest objectives

jacoby.swift1b16_ESO
Please make it more difficult to assist another player who happens to be on the same quest as you.

Currently this seems to be set so that everyone in a location is assisting everyone in that location who is also on the quest. This is way too sensitive.

It's really disappointing to be exploring the first room of a quest building, to find yourself completing the quest because someone else in the building has just killed the boss.

This has happened so many times to me that I've changed the way I play - rushing through areas to get to the end of the quest, rather than exploring and enjoying them. Which is far less fun for players like myself who want to explore every nook and cranny. *cough* Open every container they run past. *cough*

Please change this so you have to actively take part in a combat to meet the assist requirements.

I want to watch the bad guy gloat before issuing them a smackdown, rather than hear some muffled dialogue followed by a painful sounding beating from three rooms away.

Or your quest target despawns before you get to it because someone else activated it. Hence quest doesn't update and you are stuck with no way to finish it other than try to relog or abandon and start over....

I agree with this complaint, while it's great that ZOS have tried to avoid the kind of thing that happens in most (but not all) other MMOs where players queue up (or else deal with jerks ninjaing) to 'claim' the mob to get the quest completed, ESO right now is too far the other way as @jacoby.swift1b16_ESO describes.

I don't understand why the normal 'do enough damage to get a drop' mechanism isn't what's used when it comes to quest mob kills, and see no problem with inanimate objects being like there are everywhere else and needing each player to 'use' them, as there's little to no 'camping'; required here.

Nothing more fun than entering a room and having the quest complete and not doing anything...who on earth thought this would be a great idea...

Totally miss everything then unable to actually try yourself because its complete...

What is interesting in that in some other areas the end boss is only visible to yourself and anyone in your group - this though usually requires that the end boss be in a separate area. Thus might be hard to do without moving the final event into its own room or instancing the whole area.

This frustration is compounded in camped dungeons, where you can complete a dungeon by standing in the final cavern, but then can't loot the boss for campers and bots.

Yeah the assist feature goes a bit too far. I pay to play the game, not have someone else play it for me.

I agree with pretty much all of the above.

LOL I suck so I like being able to ride people's coattails.

I usually don't need to group; I just walk into a dungeon and tag along.

    Just being honest.

Im going to overly agree with the OP a LOT of times for some reason if im near the story boss and somebody else drops him I get the credit don't even have to help at all. VERY frustrating as I wanna listen to see if the boss says anything and then I usually want to actually fight the boss as well lol.

Yes... you should only get credit if you attack it, same as Solo Dungeon final boss... don`t know why its different here....

The whole game is like this though. Enter a public dungeon and walk through it, totally mob free. Play a chain event with more than 2 people and you're struggling to get a hit in with your fastest attack.

I ID with everything said including possible solutions, however I would like to compound the problems perhaps by suggesting the solo-only boss battles be dropped allow others in to help drop the boss.

I've given up and won't fight another boss by myself as they exist--totally no fun at all--I need the help. I don't give a rat's ass what 'challenging' fun I might be missing.

Make it optional before entering every or any dungeon including bosses whether you want it open group, private group, or solo if you are a sadistic die-hard and have respec'd your PC just for that boss and his minions.
