Forums are depressing - I'm having fun, is anyone else having fun?

Having fun, yeah. However, I'm running a DK which I guess is overpowered? Heavy armour, shield and sword Argonian tank, never abused the shield bash "situation" because it was obviously unintended. Still trucking along at VR 6 soloing everything but some world bosses and dungeons. Kind of annoyed at the rollbacks I keep experiencing, but they only set me back a few minutes every time they happen.

Game's got problems for sure, but I wasn't burdened under any illusions that it would be a masterpiece right out of the gate. I want to at least play long enough to experience all three faction's story lines and quests. Not feeling burned out yet.

Quests, storys, crafting are great and motivating. At Vet3 (heavy armor, greatsword skills with a bit of healing templar) the combat against "trash"mobs is turning more and more from challenging-exciting to challenging-tiresome. Went to the forums to see what I can make better; since I dont' want to reroll or turn the char concept inside out it gets a bit depressing.

And to all the "if you dont like it than leaaaaveIihaa" donkeys: Shut your face; ppl might doing that exactly and thats bad for everybody except those that really wish the game harm. Do you wish the game harm?

So far there's only 2 things I don't love about ESO:

    1) The bugs, bots, class issues, etc (ZoS is working on it)
    2) Traditional MMO players constantly complaining about everything no matter how small. ESO is NOT WoW and hopefully never will be so get over yourselves (nothing ZoS can do about it, we can hope those types just leave the game).

I'm enjoying the game as a whole but the End Boss fights frustrate me a lot. You can say "l2p" but I like to explore/construct so getting a call from an NPC to get beat up isn't something I like.
Oooh look, lot's of Butterflies! Wait! Butterflies? Get out of here Sheo, stop bugging me!

You know what I love: Going around before and after and talking to the locals/NPCs after you've completed the quest objectives in the area. It's amazing how they change and what they say, and who you bump into. They're often humourous and almost always provide some insight into the lore/etc. For instance, I bumped into a man in Sentinel that my character helped back in Stros M'Kai. He's now basically got his memory back, had quite the tale to tell, and found out he had wife!

Similar happens a lot, all over the place. Just recently my character listened to two talking in Evermore about how one was annoyed at herself regarding how she fell for an imperial. The other couldn't agree with her more at the time. That was quite funny.

Another time there was a Khajiit my character got talking to who decided to paint a target on her tummy so the dummies 'looked more like her', and in doing so would hopefully provide better 'bait' for an ambush. That's some novel thinking

I also love some of the voice acting. In particular one stands out for me. There's a girl in a cage just about to change into a werewolf... (Won't give anymore away for spoilers) That was brilliant.

All people have to do is think outside the square a little and diverge from their linear view of quests and their pathing, and they'll discover quite a lot.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I'm tossing my hat in the "having fun" corner. Partly because The Rift is a fun zone with a lot of musical quests, partly because animals have the parts they should have when I need to find them for a quest (apparently only one in 28 of azeroth's zhevra have a hoof).

That's not to say I think the game is perfect and the best thing ever, it has its share of problems and things to improve upon. But for me it's fun, and at the end of the day that's what I want most out of a game.

By the way, it was a brilliant move to put in the /lute emote. If in the future the Bard's College in Solitude opens up and features a skill line giving us more musical emotes, I will squee like a little girl finding out she can have her very own pony.

There is a lot I'm looking forward to in this game. Craftable disguise slot clothing. Dark Brotherhood. Armor dyes. Fix for stamina builds.

Being an explorer at heart, I actually like the fact that veteran content leads you through the other factions' zones. I meant to see them anyway; may as well see them on my main. On the other hand, it may be that the only reason why I've not rerolled is the fact that I don't want to face the guild or main solo quest bosses again.

    Jewel crafting too! lol.

My guild members mostly play AD so even if I make my alt, I'd probably put him in AD too, so I guess it won't matter that much.

So, I hit VR2 and pretty much lost interest in this game. I gave it a shot and stuck with it for a while, but, I am done until they overhaul quite a bit. Honestly, I couldn't care less about raid content and I can't believe they wasted so much time on it when 80% of the classes' abilities are bugged or not viable. There are only 2 classes that function well at the moment and only when they are played a certain way.

I was expecting the game to be diverse like the other Elder Scrolls titles, but, it just isn't. It is also requires a significant amount of grinding for resources that is just a massive time sink. I already have a full time job. I don't want another. I play games to have FUN and RELAX. Not work. Grinding is NOT FUN... If I wanted to grind this much I would go back to Diablo 3 (D3 also doesn't require a sub!!!).

As a casual player looking to enjoy the game I would like to see the following changes:

    100~200% increase to quest XP.

-AoE farming trash mobs 2~3 levels lower then my level should NOT be the most effective way to level.
-This is the main point of the game and should actually be rewarding. The amount of xp you get at the moment requires you to do EVERY quest chain AND still grind... This leads to just plowing through quests without even paying attention or enjoying them.

50-75% Reduction to repair costs, bag upgrades, and bank upgrades.

-Right now you have to farm just to afford repairs and then you end up having to spend most of what you just earned to repair the damage from farming. The game REQUIRES you to farm TONS and TONS of items, but, makes bag slots and bank slots damn near out of reach to anyone with a full time job.

I understand they want to make as much profit from this game over time via subs, but, seriously.... NOT ALL PLAYERS ARE POWER GAMERS!!!! you do not have to gate us by requiring hundreds of hours to just gain another level.... that is not fun.

Since I have unlocked and maxed the very few abilities that are viable for my class and have no other alternatives to work with (or ability slots for that matter) I really have no other reason to keep playing other than for the story line. To be honest, I don't feel like the amount of effort and punishment it takes just to make it through the quest chains is worth it. My skills are already maxed. I have nothing left to gain. My character will not gain any more power relative to other mobs my own level.

    TL:DR

    -More Quest XP
    -Less grinding
    -Cheaper repairs
    -Balance/Buff skills
-Make ESO less punishing and more fulfilling

Veteran content is, actually, the only fun/hard content that you will ever encounter...

Cragporn is easier than the regular Vr content :disappointed_relieved:

It's impressive to see casual/average gamers being so overwhelmed by Vr content... and regular/hardcore gamers being totally bored already...

lol to the OP but also i am enjoying this game a lot, have leveled 2 characters to 50 and one to V12. I find my self spending more time exploring then i do questing and honestly having a blast. Sure it has bugs but hey what game does not right? If you rush to end game you will sadly be like most of these complaint threads on here, crying about nothing to do. If you take your time you will enjoy ESO...other then those pesky Vet mobs.

Sure, the game is fun, and forums will typically have more negative voices than positive ones, but right now the criticism on the forums is largely warranted. The launch was cringe worthy, the existence of the same bugs from 'early' betas is shameful (looking at you NB), the slow reaction time to exploits (Darkshade caverns and fungal grotto vet dungeon exploits, Caltrops in pvp, item duping...), the many bugs that are said to be fixed in patch notes but still continually break (passives, mundus stones, progression quests...), and while class imbalance has always been there and noticeable, now with trials and the fact that 2 classes can faceroll the dps needed for a poorly designed dps check boss, and 2 classes need to be fully optimized to do the same dps as the lower end of the spectrum of the faceroll classes (and light armor staff builds), everyone and their mother can see the problems.

Not to mention the inherent problems with stamina vs magicka builds. I honestly can't see them having any viable solution to this for at least months if not longer, they really dug themselves into a hole with this one and need to be careful about how they try to fix the imbalance.

So, do I play a lot and enjoy the game overall? Yes. Is the criticism being lobbed at the devs warranted, absolutely.

Almost a VR3 NB with Bow. Things definitely have slowed down, gotten harder.

NB has some bugs. Have run into quest bugs.

but holy ****, this game is a riot. Assaulting a keep last night was close to taking it and got rolled. Can easily see some tactic changes that would have helped.

just finished the last boss in Deshaan, died three times before taking Vox out, but realized I had to block more.

Enchanting is difficult, can FINALLY make VR1-VR3 glyphs.

Had researched all but three attributes on all pieces of medium equipment, going to take a long time, but doable.

Saved up $42k for a horse, got it to level 21 now.

Crafted a hell of a bow the other day. Got 5 pieces of Kyne's equipment, fricken awesome.

Just used a skill point for silver bolts. wtf was I waiting for? Great skill. But not sure how to fit it on my skill bar. think I need to do Bow/Bow because love the bow attacks so much, but seems like Knockback isn't as good in PvP. Maybe my PvP build will be Sword and Shield. Dam, so many choices, so much fun!

Am I the only one in this game having fun?

I don't do anything other than have fun playing this game. I think it's wonderful. I judge a game by one thing: How much fun it is. If they implement rock collecting, and it's fun to me. I won't cry about game bugs. I will be having fun collecting rocks.

One thing to consider, most of the people who have few or no complaints are busy playing the game. The forum population and mood doesn't necessarily reflect the reality of what is happening in the game.

Since launch there has been a 'the sky is falling' attitude in the forums, but in the game I see most people playing and having a good time. So you have to take the forum postings with a grain of salt.
Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. If you find that you are reading forums more than 24 hours a day, please consult your nearest temporal physicist.

Actually I am posting because I must wait until after the workday is done to play.

Certainly most of the play in ESO is fun. It stops being fun when I hit one of those punishing and sadistic gateway quests. For your type of personality those almost-insurmountable challenges is the very definition of fun. But not all people are your personality type. For many people punishment is at best frustrating. Continuing over and over trying to find the 'trick' is masochism.

Some people have plenty of challenge in their workday (and the commute to and from it). Building the game to only your type of player (who is already bored: boredom is a symptom of the lazy mind) will leave only your type of player playing it. And given your tendency to migrate quickly, you won't be playing it anyway.

My working hypothesis is that the locusts already bored by the game are the only ones who really need VR5 mobs in Cyrodiil. Zenimax isn't stupid. By the time the rest of us (who bought the game seeking a relaxing adventure to top off our days) get to the regular level cap Zenimax will have had time to build something more rewarding to MY type of player. But those gateways we find punishing are eliminating our opportunity to enter Veteran ranks.

In the meantime I am struggling to keep my interest up. Not from boredom, but because I don't enjoy working all evening.

Here's a bit of news: Alpha types aren't also dumb. So prove you might be an Alpha with an intelligent response rather than eliminating yourself with something ill-conceived.

    Yeah, it's fun.

I kinda sorta wish combat was more responsive, but it seems to get better over time. So, good job programmers.

I also would like xp to be more evenly distributed - in pvp, public dungeons, where ever. Not just quests. The quests are good, but after a while it becomes "ok, open map to see arrow. Go there, get thing, go back to npc. Finish, look on map for next stage" etc. Never ending!

So, yeah, sometimes I just want more variety.

Oh, and more sandbox. The "ok, dolmen will spawn here" and "ok, pretend random spawn will spawn here, with a cute little blue cloud above it's head" is nice, totally fun to engage, but then kinda dull the second and subsequent times it reappears. "Didn't I just kill that? Hey, guys, let's break the anchor structure! Anyone have a pick? Of course you do, you pull them out whenever you mine iron."

Otherwise, yes, total fun. Great visuals. :)
