Motif Market Crashed - Higher difficulty needed!

People are finding a rare motif practically once per hour (Primal, Barbaric, Daedric, and/or Ancient Elf) and in some cases even faster. The Primal and Barbaric motifs were worth 75-90K gold... and now they can hardly be sold for 20K gold. Meanwhile Daedric and Ancient Elf were worth about 150K and 100K respectively... and now can hardly be sold at all due to vast amount of folks farming them up... they've gotten to the point they're being given away. So the market for those of us who were trying to gain a monetary foothold has been lost in this form. Can I get a response from Zenimax about the future of this issue?

Consider having to actually craft and peddle your crafts as the official answer. I speak as one who can and did look for the motifs on my own. Honestly, 150k for something in this game is out of place IMO.

but there need to be rare things in MMOs... I hate that people felt like they absolutely HAD to have the daedric motif.

The outcry from this I'm afraid will send a message to ZoS that all things should be handed to players.

No rare mounts no rare pets? Nothing to get excited about?

Kids, candy tastes sweeter when you earn it and the low hanging fruit is usually not as tasty.

    Couldnt agree more.
I wish they had ALL motifs super rare so people only could craft their choosen race style, and be hunting for the other styles and get really excited with when they finally come by one of the others.
Read some time before release that crafters where going to have a major role in the comunity and that you could choose to focus on crafting and be lacking fighting skills etc. What did we get? Get as ast as possible to max vet rank and deconstruct highlevel gear= master crafter. Fricking joke of a crafting system!

I confess, I certainly suggested that those who had stacks of motifs may have used a game 'legal' but not particularly admirable technique to obtain those stacks of motifs.

I pretty much stand by it and would add that logging in & out repeatedly to gain something that way rather than by actually playing the game is an example of true mediocrity.

To people who have been fortunate enough to find a bunch during long hours of questing and dungeon clearing simply by opening every container they have encountered I say 'well done' and to them alone I have some mild sympathy if they do not make as much money as before.

    Yeah I rest my case.

You rest your case on the chat in game and a few comments you cherry pick. You need more than that. Which is what I was saying in my first post.

I will say though, during early access, I did muse a little on how these motifs would lose value in a few months when so many have them, and have no need for them. We will see tons in guild banks or given away. I am seeing this with the less common ones already. This is going to happen at some stage.

yeah, you right... like an style merchant selling styles for 2-300 gold? And an offline mode to go with that so people dont need to interact for trading or being forced to buy what they cant craft themself aswell perhaps? No i dont agree at all.

I believe being forced to choose what to specialize on is a good way to enrich ingame market systems. but thats just my view.

That is the unfortunate side effect when your game is so overrun with exploiters and cheaters that everyone and their mom has seen at least one of these offenders.

On another note, don't really see what the big deal is with Daedric motif. When I see low levels running around in this stuff it's more of a "meh" feeling that washes over me. Really don't think it looks all that great. I certainly wouldn't pay for it, but to each their own.

Reminds me of the big diesel truck trend. I have a great idea (hey man hold my beer, I got this), let me take out a home equity loan and pay like 60k for a truck then dump another 40k+ of mods into it. Oh the housing market crashed? Guess I'm not moving for the next 30 years.

TLDR version: Status symbols are lame. People make really dumb life decisions to look "cool". You took advantage while you could, now it's done.

Remember when the game FIRST launched a little over two months ago? Remember how regular motif's like Altmer, Argonian, etc.. were actually selling for 1-3k depending on the time. Now they're a dime a dozen and most of the population has the motifs they want (minus rare). Eventually most of the player base will have the rare motifs they want as well, and then no one will care. The only change I'd like to see is get rid of the grind zones for motifs - that's just stupid. When you hit VR1 content zones give X chance for finding rare crafting regents/motifs/etc.... It can be stupidly low, but at least there is incentive to play through some more.

The motifs should not be so expensive but the mats should...yet I see people selling stacks of these for high $ and armor crafted in these styles are much more expensive. I guess you are upset you can't make 100k every time you farm for motifs???

Agreed... hell Voidstone is hardly worth more than Iron in most guild stores unless it's in ore form. If you have any form of metal ore... people will practically hump your leg to buy it off you... but the metal ingots are apparently worthless.

Because ore is worth more, it serves two purposes. One, it can be refined for a chance at rare upgrade materials and two it can be made into ingots. Ingots can only be made into items and that's it. I'm not going to spend money on ingots when I can buy the ore and have a chance for upgrade materials and have the crafting materials needed to make an item.

I am glad that motifs are affordable now. At last the gap between rich and poor doesn't widen more. Also motifs are usable items which are required for any kind of crafter. It would be an unfair advantage if one can't sell any of their crafted armor because they can't afford it or weren't lucky enough.

I would even take it further and make motifs bound. No money making out of it. I also hope they stop these vamp and WW bites for money. It is simply disgusting to see such rip off (was a lot worth in early days now it has calmed to 5k I think, still such money making behaviour. You literally *** your chars body for money! )
