can't login to the game and no answer from customer support!!!!

    If so, that means the client's fine and your computer's fine. Something on their end is messed up and no amount of troubleshooting your machine will do a thing for you.

    We are being told to update our ToS from the main web page and log in, failing that change ports too:

    Please be aware that this issue can have different causes and solutions. First, please (1) Login in to your account on https://account.elderscrollsonline.com and (2) Sign the new TOS agreement. Then, log back into the game.
    If this steps doesn't solve your issue, your issue can be connection related. Would you be so kind as to (3) Reboot router/modem and (4) Connect your computer via cable (not wireless).
    Additionally, if you haven't done it already, you can (5) Open Ports by checking that you have added the "Bethesda_launcher", as well as "eso.exe" to your Antivirus/Firewall exception rules and that your Firewall has not blocked access through the following ports (if your PC does not have an Antivirus, Windows sometimes has a simple one by default. Follow the same steps for it as well as Windows Firewall):
    • TCP / UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    • TCP / UDP Ports 24500 through 24507
    • TCP / UDP Ports 49100 through 54000
    Finally, try a (6) clean boot to disable background programs that could potentially be blocking the connection by following this procedure:
    - Click Start and type msconfig in the search box
    - Right click on the msconfig.exe program and choose "Run as administrator"
    - On the General Tab at the top, click on the Selective startup radio button
    - Uncheck "Load startup items"
    - Click on the Services tab and check the "Hide all Microsoft services" box
    - Click the "Disable all" button at the bottom
    - Click Apply, then click OK
    - Restart your computer
    When your computer boots up again, it will be in selective startup. Try the game again, and see if you have different results. Once you have tried the game, if everything works fine, then one of the service or startup programs was causing the issues.
    Once you have finished this troubleshooting, turn selective startup back off. This is done by opening the msconfig window again and selecting the Normal startup radio button. Click Apply, then click OK, and restart the computer again. For more detailed instructions on this process, visit the Microsoft support page here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Lastly, if all fails would you be so kind as to send us your host.developer log file (located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher)?

    Biggest issue with any of this is that you can NOT log into the ToS link and when you say that to them they do not want to reply.

    Warning!! This can become a major security risk so do so only if you know w hat you are doing. Simply allowing the ESO.exe process will tell the Firewall to open whatever necessary ports for the process. DO NOT just open up these ports, as you may become susceptible to open port hackers (this is how most of them hack into secure networks and cause major problems).

    If you are using Windows Firewall, just allow the necessary processes, or simply put, Allow the Program through the Firewall and Windows Firewall will do the rest.

    Again, opening ports on your computer can cause a major security breach if you do not know what you are doing. ZOS should carefully advise caution when doing this, in fact, they should NOT be advising this at all. Firewall software will open the necessary traffic by simply trusting the process, therefore opening ports is not necessary.

    Which isn't the issue at hand, as I'm quite capable of logging into the EU megaserver without issue. I've already done a LOT of client-side work to rule those out, and short of me completely wiping my machine, there's nothing more I can do.

    It is not client side. If my almost completed Bachelors of Science in IT and multiple IT certifications has any worth at all, I've done everything client side possible to fix the issue. I'm quite certain this is a server side issue.

    It is definitely a server side issue. There is no denying this. It's even been further evidenced in other threads by people who experience this error being able to log into and play on the opposite megaserver. And people in the same home having no issue logging in with their accounts while sharing the same connection( though one is blocked by the 301 error). Further, people with multiple accounts experiencing this error can log onto the game on their server with a different account from the exact same pc.

    There are screenshots in other threads of these things as well. Their server side login/authentication server or process is fubared.

    I agree with what your saying it is not our end but theres yet they are giving us standard GM responces rather then admiting that there MEGA server does not work. Back before they released the game this was mentioned in the BATA yet they told us not to worry and that they could handle it, the more and more i serce the forums for what is going on the more i see people saying that they can not log in, lag issues or error 301/303.
    I for one am having no issues on ANY other on line game and my server conection to them all is very good (for once i can honestly say thanks to BT infinaty)
    They are avoiding the question that has been asked and side tracking us to belive that it is our issue.
    For once i would like to see an MMO say " I fudged up" and " we will fix this and give you all a free month or better as a sorry" but i doubt that this will be the case and it will always be our fault that way they don't except liabialty and have to compisate people for lost time.
    All we can do is hang in there!

    Do not bother trying to fix this on your end. I was locked out for over 4 days after 1.1.2 came out. I ran one run of WS after the patch. We reformed and I infinite loaded trying to get back into WS for a second run. I alt F4'd and was locked out after that. Once they rebooted the servers it unlocked my account so that I could log in without the time out, 301, time out, 301 minigame. There is nothing that you can do as a player. They need to fix their DB to automatically unhinge/unlock player accounts every 10 minutes. Until they do that to their DB then this will always be an issue which requires them to reboot the servers to fix.

    Just posting this around as this has solved the 301 error for me, also how workaround for the TOS:


    A work around for signing the new agreement:
    Go to Start, documents folder > Elder Scrolls Online > LiveXX (where XX = US/EU) > open the Usersettings.txt file.
    Find the line: SET AcceptedEULAVersion, change the value to "0"
    This will force it to pop up when you try to login and you will have to resign it.



    Also, what solved my (and others) 301 error / login time-outs, is to go to your account page, and change your password to contain Special Characters (!@#$% etc.)
    (for the best result, use lower/upper case, special characters and numbers)

    I am on the fence regarding unsubbing if the issue will not be fixed in reasonable time I unsub. I have big patienceand huge love for ES but with all the bugs and hickups and NB worthlessnes I already regret the moment I fist laid eyes on this game.

    All this "helpfull advice"... none of this achieves anything other than to dilute the issue.
    The problem is server side.
    The problem lies with Zenimax.
    They don't know how to fix it.

    Running the program as an administrator, through Shodan super computer,with 9k open ports, free access to anybody on internet, and editing all my txt logs is no way to sell a game to subscribers.

    I submitted a ticket last night and heard back from them by noon. I appreciate the quick response, all things considered. I was advised to disable my firewall and to allow and exemption in Windows Firewall for the game. Still broken.

    I try to log-in and get a time-out. I try to log in again, and immediate get Error 301.

    All my other games and internet connective programs are functioning properly. I know the issue doesn't rest with my rig. I'm sure the support team is doing their best to resolve the issue on their side, but I repeat, on their side.

    Issuing 'turn off your firewall' suggestions at this point seems redundant. There are hundreds of accounts being affected. What the heck is going on? O.o

    If you're getting error 301 (please say the error code! and don't confuse it with error 310, which is a different issue) then you can play against the other megaserver fine. e.g. if you're on US you can play on EU, and other way around.

    Wow is this still not fixed? I had this same issue a week back. I asked Zenimax CS to Log me of out the server. I think that's what did it for me.

    Except you have to redownload the client, and not everyone has unlimited bandwidth.

    working in email customer service is hard because basically you are not allowed to respond with your own words. you are given a series of form letters and have to choose the best fit. if you expect any answers to questions when there are no answers, you are trying to live in a perfect world that society has not achieved yet.

    if you call in you'll get a polite answer, explanation, and attempts to help you in ways the emails cannot. all of it leads to waiting for the tech guys to figure it out tho in almost all cases. which sucks, but such is life. stop panicking and threatening and screaming and shouting over what is essentially nonessential to life. when they take your job, your food, your house, and your car, then riot. there wasn't this much negativity at a Tea Party Rally and those people are effin crazy.

    Actually that's horseshit. When I have submitted tickets, I specifically request to have a response that isn't RP generated, and I have gotten it since I started doing it. They know those responses belittle and enrage normal patrons of the game, and regardless of why the company thinks it's amusing, the rest of us find it asinine and childish.

    Day 9 - ticket has been escalated - whoo whooo that was 8 days ago - Error 201 issue no it is not my router/ my firewall / or anything else on my computer. For me it is NA server - I can use and am using the EU server with a new character - My 2 char in NA are trapped but I bet my hireling is still dropping me my ingredients and stuff, can't get to that either. Not to mention the fact that I did pay for the Imperial Version and supscription. How sad I really want to pay in the NA not EU, but some of the advantages are not as crowded when I'm on, the streets are empty, but there is a lag and the memory leak still there as well, I just watch the usage go up and up over time, at one point I was at 75% usage and that was after I had travelled to cold harbour to talk to the prophet to do lyris titleborn missions.

    Let's see how the patch of the patch goes?????

    - Did all of the nonsense they suggested - only thing that I was able to find was an out of date graphics driver updated it but it really had nothing to do with game play as it wasn't updated until I created my EU character and played for several hours. I have been able to play on the EU for 6 days now it took the better part of a day to download and install, after I did a complete game wipe and reinstall, keep getting the same error even after repairs and such but change over the launcher to EU and login and play in EU.

    Hi all,

    Understand the fustration, something to try as looks account related.
    A friend had the same error 301 issue.
    He has just gone on to his account and changed subscription from monthly too 3 monthly sub and that worked. Goes to show account issue.

    Edit: might just need some form of update on account details not necessarily sub changed.

    might be worth a try.
