Like everyone else, I had no issues prior to the patch. It seems that they changed their optimization from DX11 to DX9 and failed to tell anyone or at least to implement a drop down option in settings as to what is preferred by the end user. This option is something seen in all new MMOs now and is another example of poor game design.

@Mablung - Where are you seeing this optimization change? This doesn't sound right to us.

I had this bug. I could not see ghosts etc. I renamed the "My Documents\Elderscrolls Online\Live" folder and relaunched the game and the issue was fixed.
I assume it was really the ini file that had something wrong. I was able to copy back in the AddOn and SavedVariables folders to restore my addons and the issue did not come back.

I spent many long sessions through beta and EA and the first month. Sometimes I was in game almost all day long. I was able to pop around to various mules for banking and all was done with little performance issues.
Now, post-patch, I am unable to play much longer than 30 minutes.
Whatever changed sucks for me. I wish I was able to get the same performance as before, I honeslty care little for how pretty the game is, I am a child of the 70's so pretty much anything looks good to me, I just want it to run cleanly.
@ZOS_JessicaFolsom, I just spent over an hour doing a quest that should have taken minutes. I had five ghosts to talk to and one dead one to examine. Why did it take so long? Because I could NOT see ANY of them nor did they have quest markers. I had to FIND them!!! This has to be fixed! Something changed in this update forcing players to use DX11 and MANY of us cannot! This is a game changer and should be considered high on the list of things to fix ASAP.
@JasonSilverSpring, so in the usersettings.txt file you changed SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" to SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OpenGL"?
I wish I would have found this thread earlier, posted one myself and the only response I received was run a repair, which I did and accomplished nothing. I am running DX11 not DX9 and I have this exact issue.
I've found a temporary fix for this issue, assuming you have a DX11 compatible card.
I had actually set my game to DX9 to test out SMAA (still doesn't work), and was surprised to find forcing it to DX11 in UserSettings seems to fix it.
- Navigate to " C:\Users\YOURUSER\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live" (or liveeu if you play on EU megaserver)
- open "UserSettings.txt"
- search (Crtl+F) for "SET GraphicsDriver.7"
- change D3D9 to D3D11

If you are running Windows XP or running in Windows XP compatibility mode, it will not run DX11.ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »Hi folks, could you please check to see if you're running DX9 instead of DX11? I have been seeing this issue too along with graphics driver crashes, ever since the patch. This is good to here since it seem like it may get me on the path to a solution...however...
My computer is running DX11, but the .ini file lists D3D9. i have tried changing it to D3D11 multiple times, but when I launch the game it changes it back to D3D9. This may very well be the problem, but how do I fix it?

If your card is not DX11 compatible you can also try "OpenGL" but, at least on my system, it takes a massive performance hit.
Ghost/projection issues STILL an everyday event. Windows 8 runs DX11 but issues still continue.
