    You asked back in may and I can answer NO in october. Shows how little is happening. All they should do was to add support for standard UTF-8 Unicode.
    I am danish, and can't write in proper danish with my friends as we generally have the same letters as norwegians.

    I have found many games dis-allow most (from the us-keyboard perspective) what can in a culturally insensitive phrasing be termed 'unnecessary extended characters.' Most US persons - on windows based machines anyways - need to consult obscure alt-keypad charts to type them.

    I know from WOW which did allow them they could be a pain in my ass (though easily fixed) because chatting to or inviting said players was at one point very annoying.

    I believe it should be easily implemented in the game's chat function to both allow full extended ascii and enhance the chat functions with a character map and integrate more right-click invite/chat/mail functions.

    While I agree this is an important and needful change I am afraid I can understand from the Zen side why this would not be seen as having any exigency. I hope these enhancements to the in-game communication systems do come soon as aside from being culturally and linguistically appropriate I fail to see how just about any user would not find these upgrades useful.

    Be nice if I could then enhance my character names after - I do heavily borrow from other languages - including that part of the world - when creating characters and sadly was unable to use proper spelling .

    I also have a question: In response to the original post, I saw that Aa and å seemed to my understanding to be roughly equivalent. At least in general spelling (I agree never in proper names) as someone who understands the language - I only have read one short wiki - how interchangeable are they?

    Thank you

    @Elf_Boy‌
    You can exchange other combinations for the letters ØÆÅ, at least in danish, you could write them OE, AE, AA if you wanted, and some of us have been doing that for years in other games, but it still takes some getting used to, since those 3 letters are occuring pretty often in the language, at least in our adjektives and our prepositions.

    They support the languages for which they have recorded audio and translated the UI: English, French and German. That's it.

    Not even Spanish is supported (ñ), and that is one of the largest languages in the world, in fact the largest using the general Latin alphabet. Swedish, Danish and Norwegian? Don't think so. We are a few million people in total, and we are all using English in every possible online situation anyway. If they were to listen to us, how could they refuse to support Turkish, Polish and all other languages with slightly different character sets and more native speakers than all Nordic languages put together?

    In a perfect world, Unicode would be chosen to represent all text in all new software projects, but this world is still stuck with the decisions made by US computer manufacturers in the early 1960's. ("7 bits ought to be enough for everyone.")

    I'm sorry for interruption in this very specific thread. Can you to made UI addon that altered game fonts? Yes, this will be workaround, but you will be able to view special letters. May be even you will be able to write it. But I think input is impossible w/o special codepage or background tool.

    In other side we all must to appeal to the developers for adding Unicode support in ESO. We should not afraid of the multilingual spam in general chat. For this issue, there are chat rules and other channels.

    The fact that they allowed names with characters that are impossible to type in the chat window (even if you cut and paste) is a separate issue. The stupidity in making that mistake is astounding. It is mind-boggling that the design of a large multi-million dollar software project can fail to specify and enforce such a fundamental thing as which character set to use. It leaves you wondering what other basic mistakes they made,

    Hey there @SnowmanDK,

    We have a larger thread going about this same issue here. In order to gather everyone's feedback in one place, we're going to go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to add to the larger topic! Thanks for your understanding.
