Just as the title says....Ever since launch I have been unable to receive whispers in game. I can whisper others but as soon as they try to whisper back it says account not found. I have submitted multiple reports in game so hopefully ZOS will answer it here

Does the same thing happen if someone tries to send a whisper to your character (rather than directing the whisper at your userID)? It's possible if you have a special character in your userID (an apostrophe, for example), that others in-game will have trouble sending you a whisper.

Yes my account name does have an apostrophe in it....any resolution to this problem?
  • Dag86novanub19_ESO
I think what she is also asking is if that person has tried whispering your character name instead of your account name as a test.

    For example:
    /whisper @thomas'thomas (account)
    /whisper Casper, (character name)

Notice the comma after a character name. This is due to some characters having a space in their name. The comma is important.

    Example:
    /whisper Casper the Gasper,

Then again if you have whispered someone else's character name and they used:

    /r

    or

    /reply

then it should have worked if it was character name based.

Just my thoughts and suggestions. Good luck.

It's a known issue we're looking into. Right now, the quickest resolution would be to ask a member of our support team to change your userID, noting specifically the issues your current name is causing.

Kingslayer I never really thought about that...but would it say account doesn't exist? Cause other guildies are telling me that's what it says

Same problem here, good to hear, that the prob could be the apostrophe in the ID... Reported this prob since release and did not get any solution nor a an idea, where the prob lies, from the support...

At least now I know, where the prob is and that Zeni is working on it...

I won't change my ID, since I like my name and c'mon, when the system allows apostrophes, there shouldn't be issues with it... ;)

FYI, I have this issue as well. My User ID has an apostrophe in it, no one can /whisper it. My character name ALSO has an apostrophe in it, and that works fine.

The apostrophe bug seems to only be a problem in the user ID, not in the character name.

yes it does. I have had that happen and it said account not found. if its everyone then this isn't the issue. if it is just one person then most likely it is and have them set them selves to online

It's a known issue as above and all you have to do is scroll up a little to see that. No point linking a thread that doesn't say anything from anyone at ZOS.

I would just like to know if it will ever get fixed and if not have you blocked new users from making the same mistake.

I hesitate to change my ign as I don't want to lose everything I own because of another "known bug" that hasn't been fixed.

Any news ZOS? Will it be fixed in 1.2?

Still bugged. Can someone from ZOS pm me about a name change. It's annoying that something so simple seems to still be a problem.

I did it that way (though not due to the apostrophe bug)

    So was this ever fixed?

And yes, this is an old thread. I decided to ask here rather than start a new one just to show how old this problem is, and emphasize how much it needs to be fixed. Either that, or remove "you can use one apostrophe in your user ID!" option altogether if nothing is going to be done about it.

No, I want this actually fixed. Either in the code or in the text when creating a userID.

"/bug"ging to get your name changed does not fix the problem. Why the HELL is it even an option, let alone a CONFIRMED OPTION when creating a name? It expressly states that using an apostrophe is perfectly fine and acceptable. If the code can't handle it, it SHOULDN'T BE AN OPTION, let alone one expressly stated as one.

So I ask again: Has this "known issue" that's been "looking into" (though "ignored" seems to be a more apt descriptor) since 2014 been addressed? I'm not interested in what the peanut gallery has to say. I want something official on the topic.
